Music seems the same?

"Yuckie."
Next.
"Gross."
Next.
"Been there, heard that."
Nothing's sounding good. You're so tired of it all.
Next.
"Uggh."
Next.
"This sounds like post-alt-rock-hip-hop-swing. So cliche."
Is that how your brain has been talking lately? I know mine sometimes goes off like that. Luckily, there is always someone doing something new, interesting, comical, or just plain insane on iCompositions. One great thing about iComp is that is it filled with great music to inspire.
Record Holders?
First off, lets just go ahead and talk about Richard Ringer, the local celebrity of the little insane village in the farthest corner of Icomp. The corner where sea urchins pop up and whisper in your ear about candy coated fingernails and the harpsichord being on fire. If I wrote about inspirational individuals and didn't include him someone would cry out and there'd be some kind of lynch mob with treble and bass clefs coming at me (those things are pointy!). Check out "Ballad of Federico" and my favorite, "She Took The Piano" for an instant trip into waves where Richard twists the simplistic with the music the vortex of his own insanity.
Second off, Borris. The reason I really like Borris is because of his podcast. It's hysterical! You must check it out. There's so many noises coming out of his brain I'm sure one or two of them will make you smile and want to dab your hands in that great musical program of choice you have sitting there was a shiny icon.
[Warning: Borris exceeds the limits of sounds, when you hear it; hear it loud]. Check out "A New Kind of Music" which was the inspiration for this topic!
Honorable Mentions for Old-School iComp Inspirational Beings:
Ponkey. What can I say about Ponkey that hasn't been said? If you haven't heard a song, just listen to "Decadence is the New Abstinence" and all the people it's inspired to add to it.
Barretok the crazy artist who is always in the chat with a new rhythm and story a day; he's ALWAYS in the top 10. There's gotta be a reason, right? ( psst... He pays for it!
) Check out "CRAYONS & HORSES".
BossHook who cranks out tunes constantly that he gets your soul coughing ( -- sorry, inside joke!) Check out "Bottom Drops Out"
KeithPetrower - Seriously Hilarious. Blending humor and music beautifully. Check out "Madonna" and "Urban Fashion Customer".
Okay, those guys are pretty much older Icomp-ers and you all (should) know them. So let's movie on...
Newbies?
Sarahgirl is doing some fresh electronic stuff. Besides being an groovy artist, she's a really cool person who likes to talk, so you should visit her music and get to know her, start with "Synthesize" as a brief "Hello".
K2 is doing some nice stuff. Not many comments on his music, very progressive yet has that certain warm-fuzzy feeling you get from those hip indie rock songs you swear you don't like. Check out "Almost There"
PhilJustin just joined Icomp on July 3rd and already he's ripping it up with some fresh jazz and good "cool cat" vibe-y stuff. You know, the stuff you wish you had wrote.
Hidden Treasures?
Daspyda actually has some marching band music up on his page. I don't know if he's the first on icomp to have this or not. But it's got that "live music" appeal that can get your juices going.
Strawn4u has radical sounds twisting into a vortex and sucking you into a music world that you've never quite heard. His music is similar to the band Kent. Check out "King Fall Often" and "Wait for Me".
HavardBlue. His raps are amazing and smart. High quality pro stuff here. Expect to see him go places. Check out "The Word N-----" and "You Will Pay".
Lapskin. This guy produces about a track a day. Sometimes songs, sometimes noises. I've always been a fan of his. He is living breathing inspiration. Some people don't get what he is doing but he is productive and inventive, reaching into himself and expressing it, everyday, track by track.
Some of the music Relkem has been posting will rejuvenate you're tired soul by giving your ears the familiar sound of what it is like to make music for fun again. Check out "Afternoon Song".
The great lyrics of the3rdc0ns0nant in his folk and country music will tear you apart and make your break out your pen. Especially "I Can't See You Anymore".
And as always, artist08 will get your mojo running and remind you of how sexy music can be. He brought it back you know, way before Justin. Check out his bands medlies such as the "Prince Medley" and the "New wave Medley".
Lastly (yes, this Criminally Overlooked is short and sweet) I would like to mention someone who really deserves to be mentioned....
ddball.
Seriously, this guy has commented on nearly every song I've ever looked at on Icomp. He always has a quirky message that makes you feel good. For this he is an inspiration to us all.
Also, if you're feeling iffy. Use the lovely random song generator. You might just find your next muse.
