SAY WHAT NOW?
October 15, 2008 | by jkane
Diavoletto, an Italian artist who sings with passion and writes music from the inside.
"Songs Could Change the World"
Fortunato - you can't visit this artist but he's worth a mention.
I miss you Forti. Thank God for the French!
thoddi, a Norwegian, who briefly visited iComp but left us with some soulful tracks.
"Home 2005"
chokladzingo, Swedish, I believe. He had a band going and posted this but the group disbanded. I love the live feel of this and the woman's voice has stayed with me this past 4 years.
"So it's Over"
GumboStu - I want to say Irish, but he could be from another planet. Truly gifted in a Woody Gutherie kind of way. Needs to be heard by anyone and everyone.
"Midnight Child"
annamaria, is an Italian singer and writer. She has been a huge inspiration to me on many levels and is a gift to the iComp site.
"Sa Nuraghe (a Sardinian march)"
efjay, a Swiss musician that uploaded some amazing work through his previous bands.
"Armed and Ready"
enkibumbu, is a mystery to me (he could be my next door neighbor and I have no idea where he is from). Eclectic to say the least but a true music lover and aficionado.
"Release the Flying Children"
Drugon_voice, Japanese rocker. Reminds me of Lemme. This guy is the epitome of why I love the foreign artists on iComp.
"RainyWalk"
rovert10 (or Trevor, as his name may be) is an Australian with a great sense of humor. The
track that I selected has got to be one of the most creative things that I've heard on this site.
"Oh Crap!"
Now, I know that lilichi & BlackLily don't need any help from me for recognition but this track is really special to me and they are always worth mentioning (Venezuelan & Canadian, respectively).
"I Pretend I'm Happy"
Ian Robinson (OU812) is one gifted Australian. He represents to me the absolute perfection
of what an ordinary music lover can achieve with Garageband and discerning ears. Ian demands that you listen with good headphones and he's right, the audio quality is that good.
"Winterdaze"
My French-Canadian friend ermites needs more listens (and more time). Like many of us, he has a busy personal and would like more time to write music. He has a whole host of other skills beyond music but he's a rocker at heart.
"The Trick"
A Swede (have I mentioned how much I love the Swedes?), jolofsson has this magical touch
for production and arrangement. He sings with such lament but really, I think he does it with a smirk on the other side of his face.
"Gargoyle"
knight posted this most exquisite song and this track has nestled itself inside my very DNA. Listening to it feels like being healed (and what do you know, he's a Swede).
"Africa"
So, there you have it. 14 tracks that I have kept over these last 4 years and have listened to over and over. Like the 45's, 12 inch EP's. Lp's, 8-tracks, cassettes and cd's, these songs have made their way into my life's history and they have meaning for me. I am grateful to these artists and all the ones not mentioned here (I have over 500 iComp downloads!) for giving away their creations and making the world seem smaller and friendlier.
Go raibh maith agat (thank you).
