It's been quite a while since I've heard something unique and mesmerizing on Icomp...this is it. Vocals and back-up processed vocals added the hook to the song. Weird, quirky and yet haunting. Production was great...I loved it.

Interesting. Reminds me of the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd on heavy metal storytelling albums. I liked it.

Long time since I've listened to you. I'm the one who has been missing a real treat. Love the song and as usual your voice has a haunting middle eastern ring to it. Love it.

Vocals sound really good in G...keep it up...good guitar.
Always And Forever (final remix??) by pinkjimiphoton 1 year ago
Key of A is easy for guitarist (as is E and G), but your vocals might be better sung in C or D as they are so soft and low, that the distinctiveness of what you are singing sometimes get lost. Like the song and your vocals are fine...just too low and soft.

Good sound and production.

Bass and an B-3 organ would complete the sound. It would be easy to add vocals to this. Good job.

Liked the lead. If you could remix and add a short crunch as a rhythmic bass add in, it would take it up a notch and a half. Really nice playing.

Great sounding track...well played and mixed. Love the slow gituar sustains and doubling.
I'll Be Seeing You by Vixen 1 year ago
Vixen....grew up with this style (parents were professional musicians during the big band era) and so I've had a chance to hear a lot of tunes done poorly. This one was really tasteful and the vocals were divine. Some of you're other tunes are very good as well. I'll try and try and drop comments on them as well.

Igor...really nice production.

WHAT ABOUT ME? by SISTERS 1 year ago
Another very good song. You've got soul. The lyrics are great although I offer a small suggestion that you might consider keeping it in the first person in the line "it's you we have to please" to "it's you I've got to please." Once again, strong vocals. Are there really two of you or are you doubling your own vocals?

As Jim Carrey would say...smokin'

COUGAR LOVE by SISTERS 1 year ago
Great recording. Professional production and very catchy melodic arrangement. The vocals were definitively top 40 (yeah...you can sing) and they image invoked by your voice is a sultry young pop star. In other words...this was really good...maybe the top ten I've heard on i-comp over the past 6 years.

First time for me to comment in over a year. Your song was the reason. Good arrangement with instrumentation and production. Did you use two guitar takes or use a processor to do the dual lead licks. Really nice.

Poetry is nice...good content and the background music is a very nice fit.
Entwined by Naaji 3 years ago
Ramonaji: Vocals were too far back in the mix...good vocals, but hard to hear. Suggest you sing w/out any effects on a track. Copy the performance to a second and if necessary a third track...then add some effect to one track while keeping at least on track minimal with little or no processing. GB has a "clarity" effect for vocals on the podcast side that would press your vocals through the mix. Tweak and keep all three or delete one, but keep playing with some reverb and compression...not necessarily on the same track...until the vocals break through.

Understand, I'm not a mixing expert, but it has worked for me and your voice is way too good to be hidden within the mix.

Liked the song lunatrick. You two are a nice combination.
Baby, Don't Cry by born2rock 3 years ago
Good lyrics and the vocals and harmonies are nice. Only constructive comment would be for the backing musical bed to be a little more prominent in the mix...especially the lead guitar part.

Good job.
Why? by borris 3 years ago
Love the idea to create the melodic line. Production on this puppy is first class (I mean commercial) and the vocals remind me a little of a late 1960-early 70's group called the Association. Really good stuff.
It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) by grathy 3 years ago
That's my girl...back in the genre that you really light up. My mother (who is 97 and played piano and sang professionally in the big band era) currently lives in a nursing home and she got to hear you as I took her to the online computer in her wing. After determining that she couldn't hear it on the computer speakers (little hard of hearing), I slipped on some Bose headphones and cranked it up. She tapped her toes and moved her feet (all from the wheelchair) and whooped it up big time. Then I had to take her to the piano in her wing where she played for nearly and hour getting all the other ladies all fired up.

I've downloaded this song now and may do the same for some of your other period pieces. Thanks for making momma's day...and mine.

Listened to What would happen if we kiss "LittleHooligan." Loved your vocals, but this musical track/genre is more my style...R&B/Blues. You did a great job backing vocals.

ClayPotts...great job, both vocally, instruments and the production. You two can make a career out of this.

I've written two manuscripts (fiction novels) that I'll be pitching this next fall at a writer's conference. I'm doing soundtracks to cover the story lines. I consider you exceptionally talented in this arena and your music is inspiring me to uncover the stories in the same manner that you have.

Excellent...moody, but excellent.

I think this is the first time I listened to you...and if this song is an indicator, it won't be the last. Great job on the entire production. You can play guitar, but the important qualities of this mix is that you blended it wonderfully.

Great job.

R&B and Blues are a large part of where I've come from and this is a great mix. The lyrics hit the spot...the real "thang." You've got some real pipes and the guitar work is awesome.

Was it easy mixing and constructing in Ableton Live? I've still got the four version and have not upgraded and was just curious. The song sounded goo and the mix was a good one.

Just curious.
Take Me Down to the Dungeon by Naaji 3 years ago
This one was different (hence the alternative genre!). The beat and bass lines followed your vocals well and added a presence...while a herd of elephants cavorted in the background?

Did you use multiple vocal tracks? It sounded like it. Good production techniques and everything was mixed well. Gotta figure where to play this. Not bad, but it takes several plays to latch on to the driving beat and lyrics...elephants?

aesthetically pleasing interlude... nice and relaxing. If you extend it out, it might have a few more formats where it could be used.
White Sand by lewisgreenbaba 3 years ago
While I loved atomic cows (and I'm still chucking over what you pulled off), I liked this better than the other pieces I've listened to as it was totally rhythmic... and oh yeah, I really like jazz with a touch os salsa. Really good stuff.
AC Rhythm by lewisgreenbaba 3 years ago
This did have funk and soul. Organ and brass sections carried it well. Brass could have been louder and more stabs in the mix.
Train Of Life by lewisgreenbaba 3 years ago
Do you like little jazz "diddies" cause this certainly qualifies as one. The quality of the guitar recording picked up about a third of the way through the song. What did you do? Whatever it was, keep it.
Atomicows by lewisgreenbaba 3 years ago
This is so different and so cool. It's a moooving experience. Great guitar work and the bass is driving the rhythm...love the "moo's" and the art cover is.... well, moooving.

You need a song titled "Eat Mor Chickin"

Sorry if I'm having fun with this song, but I love it.
Where Would I be? by RAVENS 3 years ago
One last time...great layered vocals and the harmonies were tremendous. Sounds a lot like Sade and you are commercial...if that's what you want.

Production was top notch and the mix... magnificent.
Whatcha Say? by RAVENS 3 years ago
OK, OK, OK... You two are really good in this collab and both deserve kudos. Barretok, the musical tracks were tasty and in sync with the sexy and rich vocals of Raven (or Dani?) You also were great with the spoken response to her steamy and suggestive vocals..(the lyrics didn't hurt either.

Raven, this is my second listen to you on icomp and you have an excellent set of pipes...and know just how to apply them. Phrasing was tremendous.
Hush Hush by RAVENS 3 years ago
First time to tune you in... it won't be my last. After having read a few of the comments made by others, I would concur that it is operatic in a manner, but the melodic arrangement allowed the mood you expressed vocally to really stand out. I'll listen to some other tunes of yours to see if your vocals are as dramatic and intense. It was good...really good.

Always looking for those who push the envelope and this piece does that. Once again, many of your pieces fit a film/TV documentary or a multi style presentation format. Enjoyed the constantly shifting sonic palette.

Film/TV score material and very good. It does fit the setting you spoke of. It also fits some of teh scenes from Mel Gibson's Apocalypse as well as other lush jungle or mideast settings. Nice.
Ravaged II by Figurochi 3 years ago
Listened to the first Ravaged before I listened to this one. The acoustic build up to begin made this song better in my opinion and the extra instrumentation to compliment the beginning was nice as well.

Liked the drums midway through the pice and the harmonic guitars (and the hammering lead as well.

Ruby...this is good and don't sweat the loops at all. Really enjoyed it.
Tight Jeans by RubyDubidoux 3 years ago
OK, OK... Ruby, Ruby, Ruby... you really can write lyrics. That was amazing... and the steam generated by the vocals was smoking hot. Mick, the musical tracks were well done and the production of the entire piece made it seem as if you were at a club in New Orleans. If you ever remix, add a little crowd noise in the background and it'll fit it to a tee.
Awkward Love by Naaji 3 years ago
This is dance beat, but not a typical dance rhythm (drone...over and over and over a pulsating beat. The talking vocal is cool and I liked this.

Cigarette at the Metro Station (avec BorisLuxx) by Naaji 3 years ago
Production was nice as was the arrangement. Just enough variation throughout so that it didn't become a drone beat. As usual, your vocals were the crowning touch.
Me Vuelvo Loco (A Two-Year Celebration) by herrsolera 3 years ago
Listened to “Comienzo” first and then took the e-train over to this piece. I like both version. Only comment would be to make the entry of the vocals at the beginning as if you were recording at the end. Soft is OK, but it sounded as if the singer was standing in the bathroom and the mic was in the hallway...really distant and faint. It is a good piece and you two work well together and I like the Spanish vocals.

Black 777 -06 - The Price You Pay by Surak 3 years ago
Production level on this one was good. Did you double the vocals with effects (especially delay) because it tended to make your vocals slurred just enough that they were hard to follow (I'm am old man who doesn't listen to a lot of metal...just like the guitar work) on certain phrases in the beginning.

Understand that metal is not necessarily my forte, but this is another well produced piece. Congrats...
Madman Comments 10 "April Showers" by Surak 3 years ago
Caught you featured on the cover page of i-comp and decided to listen to several of your songs (Unplugged Randy Rhodes Dee; Second to Last Reload Garageband; Band 2nd to last and #4 Bad Wolf 2.5 for a few). All these pieces demonstrated your skill with the guitar and you have capabilities that are varied and loaded with talent.

This particular piece was the first one that I listened to that provided a major label recording studio quality to it however. The mood was a fixture that you wove a texture throughout the piece while the mixing levels and the riffs you hammered down fit the song to a tee.

Don't get me wrong, the others were good...but this one was exceptional. I'll listen to some other works you've produced and keep up the good work
Glamorous Sky (Mika Nakashima cover) by Figurochi 3 years ago
Constructive comment if I may. Play it in a lower key where you're not bouncing your vocal s of the top of your range and kess guitar and more effects vocally. It's a good song, but sounds like a "one take special" on one channel when it comes to mixing and producing.

I like your style and just want your best sound coming out.

Going South by Figurochi 3 years ago
Reminiscent of the 1970's "Sunshine of Your Love" intro and then it breaks down into a blues riff and the back into the same bass/guitar riff. Work on some lyrics as this has a hook to it with the bass/guitar thing.

Heaven in your eyes by farfor44 3 years ago
I enjoyed the melodic style (dark David "Bowieish" smiley and the vocal arrangement was reminiscent of a late 1970's Kinks meet Traffic sound. The lyric repetition of "I believe it" fit the melody but the rest of the lyrics didn't tell me much of a story. Sorry about that...just wanted to let you know that I really liked the arrangement...just got lost in the lyrics.
