man, i'm not going to have any room in my favorites for other artists.

splendidy spoken, spectacularly spacious synapse suggestions.

the lyrics speak to me as a great forgotten history of our time, playing out unbeknownst to us in the shadows. secretly shaping the trails we are too oblivious to be thankful we have to tread upon.

great title to boot. awesome job!

what a treat through my headphones! this song began rewarding me with it's complexity after a few listens and hasn't stopped yet. i guess i'll just have to keep listening.

to be quite honest, i have listened to this a couple of times prior to today and did not know what to say, or even what to think about it. It intrigued me though, so i resigned myself to coming back to listen on seperate occasions until i found out what i was missing. i realise now that i hadn't been giving myself the proper room to drift away into the miasma of sonance that it provided.

i have now though, and im certainly glad i did. it always amazes me how much feeling you can evoke through your guitar, and in such novel ways. the words/vocals in this one are great and have projected fantastic images behind my eyelids.... and i have to say it's been really enjoyable to try and pick out the unwritten lyrics as well.

i may have said this before but it always seems that songs wich require repeated listening are the ones to delve into the most.

awesome work

I did in fact come in 1st place for the song title i chose in the November tournament!

Don't really know what to make of it, honestly. I'm not sure if there is an added irony for winning with a song titled "I Get What You Deserve" or not...

Excellent. As always.

Don't mean to beat a dead horse but i agree in a sense with polyglot... you write amazing lyrics, and the vocals in this one do sound really good as well and certainly wouldn't hinder the amazing sound if brought out a bit more. You already know i'm a big fan of distorted ambiguity, and that deciphering a message can be half the fun... but i do feel as though i'm missing out if i can't at least read the lyrics. (even a misleading lyric sheet would be cool) Again, this comes from your strong lyrical vision... it's too good to miss.

then again, it shows your damn good at this, because people (including me) certainly want to take the time to find out more...

thanks for making icomp all the more worthwile

wonderful job! the guitar fits really well. intense solo. great tone. great vocal treatment. i was really happy to find this and see what someone else with a "harder" influence had to bring to the table.

i must say this was a great opportunity for me to get some perspective on how i view composing (since i did a version as well... and was able to see where others went from the same basic premise). so thanks to everyone involved!

your playing was spot on and i really appreciate how full on you go with vocal delivery. great structure and flow to the song. a suggestion would be to expiriment a little more with your mixing.... you've got a really great song here and i think with a little tweaking that this would sound insane!

Very well done. Thoroughly enjoyable. Tons of emotion really pulled this piece through. I really like the tone on the guitar and the vocal delivery was very powerful. maybe toy with the eq/pitch on the voice in places to help it along. there is also an odd muffled blast at one of the transitions. i'm nit picking though. It's definately got a great prescence.

Fantastic!

Wonderous intro... that sound is mesmerizing. The drums are produced extremely well and your voice pierces through the dizzy apparatus with stunning clarity. This mix has a really great groove that you get sucked into and smashed about through like a centrifuge set on abrasive.

That's what the music told me to write. This really was a great song to get perspective on... i just want to hear as many versions of it as possible. It's really structurally sound and a great platform from which creativity can blossom.

wonderful lyrics. had you not revealed your method i'd have been inclined to assume them profound and mysteriously placed.... and begun looking for hints at what it "means"... then listen close enough to think there are hidden messages whithin the phrases... amd direly seek out my own absolute truth about what the song means to me and then belittle others with my uber superior "knowledge" of the enigma Euphoria.

Basically, i love it, and think some mystery would add some great listener customobility and replay value.

wonderful atmosphere, GReat distortId pee ann ooo

why haven't you sold out Birdmix? it better not be something foolish such as morals. shame shame.

and Andyfox... damn well administered. i working on an (un)fix of this song as well, and it is very interesting to hear someone go a different direction on it. the proccessing on the vocals in this is spectacular and really brings out some of the best parts of her vocals. mad chill vibe as well. definately mix-worthy!

20 stars spent, 19 1/2 meant (4.5-5-5-5)

you get half off the concept because you finished your version first, and mostly just to have something asinine to write about.

allright... i've certainly had enough time to listen to this, yet i still find it hard to put it's impact to words. i've played it over numerous times during my normal activities as well as alone and focused upon it's meandering curves. one thing i know is i wouldn't have changed a thing... it feels as pure emotion streaming through my speakers, a guiding voice that calls from the unknown... soothing yet mysterious in it's agenda.

i for one choose to follow, and if i never return... so be it.

i love the album art as well. there were parts of this that gave me (just a bit of) a King Crimson vibe, which is never bad. (and i only say this because i don't have a proper frame of reference) this whole track is very fluid and it flows beautifully.

i noticed there are 5 downloads (including me)but just one other comment... it makes me wonder why people would like this enough to dl but not reply... (i mean that was me for a bit, but i only waited it so i could listen to it enough before leaving a response)

i really love this... it has a great structure and everything fits really well... and it has a vibe to it that i don't want to refer to as "jazzy" but would just be to describe how much of a soulful feel it has to it. maybe a better way to describe it would be a stroll through lush poppy fields. i wish i could say even more about this great piece, but my mind is strapped for the right words. wonderfully done.

thanks everyone!

yeah the thing with the voice over music... i was recording over an mp3 and it was a bit hard to get the sound level perfect. i tried really hard though because i feel like an *** if were to cover up the great music. any bit lower and it was hard to hear the words clearly and any bit higher and it really covered up the music. but then, it sounds just a bit different on every set up i listen to it on... on some it sounds perfect.

i really appreciate the constructive criticism!!! it's this that helps me grow... so thanks a billion once again.... these are all great comments!!

Thanks everyone!

Yep, this is an example of the ol' Detergent trying to show some range and versatility. You know, Jkane, i have quite honestly always held a certain disdain for that technique as well... but i got to thinking and figured it was just not fair to let others (who i wouldn't dare mention) hold a monopoly over something with so much potential (i think is the right word)... and i am very pleased to hear that someone would think i was able to bridge the gap of association... so very much appreciated!

Art, i think a "cosmic superdrill" is a perfect way to describe his wicked style there... i've literally felt as though spinning in like a... gyroscope shot out of a cannon... when lost in that guitar.

(i understand my replies will only go to those that come hence... but thanks again everyone! and especially FE for making it all possible!)

reminiscent of depeche mode, but trippier. i really like the mix on this one, it's very well proportioned. the voices are phenomenal.

the theremin sounds were done really well within the structure of the sound. and the high pitched vibrating noise sufficiently tweaks me out. i don't know, everything sounds really refined and builds up to a fantastic ending.

allright, i must say this was like a birthday present when it dropped on the 17th. due to all the hussle of the past few days i haven't been able to post until now... but i definately already grabbed a copy and have been daydreaming ever since. i feel i have to download everything you do so i can hear it in "real time" instead of through the internet files that amaze, yet don't do it justice.

the title and flow were both very much on my wavelength as well. very relevant to my life at the moment. and it's beautiful. the drums fit perfect in the haze, and the guitar is as psychadelic and thought provoking as ever. and i think you may be a bit modest about your production value... splendid work.
Gone by lilichi 2 years ago
seriously now, i listen to this song all the time. and this, more than any other song, get's the "wow, who is this" when playing while company is over. i love the attention to detail, and especially the inflection of your voice. it's so chill.. maybe a better word is dissociative. it's seeps with emotion, not merely a lament, but more of a detatched devastation that gleams of reflection and maturity.

now i know this may seem an odd way to compliment a song... but what i am trying to say is that it really comes with a "presence" and can be felt as well as heard.

thanks for this, really.

a very fitting juxtaposition with an articulate sense of positioning. i would have to agree with orange on the volume levels... but i think it is only slightly overbearing and works well as it is, due to the sparse beats.

oh and to add even more to the mystifying revalations:

the picture up top. i try not to make assumptions... but figure as much as that being you. I never have an image (even fabricated) of you in my head while listening... just the music. And in spite of this image, my mind seems to continue on this same path the moment i look away...it feels as though the music just drags me away from this plane, leaving behind anything as foolish as tangible images.

Great picture though smiley

believe it or not, when i titled our collab it was nowhere in my head that you already had a song with the same name. I had listened to this before, around when i first joined, and i guess it just the floated to the back of my subconscience... because when i was reading your lyrics, "Bloated Alchemy" was the thing that jumped out at me and stuck right in my head. All of the imagery that comes into my head upon hearing it (as well as THIS song) is so vast and open as well as intriguing.

I mean, this one phrase calls up soo many pictures and references in my head... and then to come back here and refresh my ears to this only compunds that effect. So much so, in fact, that this being instrumental w/said title fits so perfect in my brain that i can't even explain it... only listen... and travel... in awe of it's scope...

I'm dLOADING this as i write. I am a big fan of tool and progressive music. This is Great! Very well done.

I gave only a 4 in creativity just because it was based as much around Tool's sound... but only one star off because you do a great job at it and by NO means is it just a blatant rip off. This is great because i feel people should be influenced by the method, not the content, of their favorite artists

Allready the sound of it is really good, but i would agree with you on re-tracking... this has the potential to be INCREDIBLE instead of just AMAZING. did you play guitar, bass, and drums? just guitar? it's all good, so props on whatever you played (as well as synth/loop structure)

I'd be Really Interested in giving vocals a shot on this one if you are indeed searching. If you want, check out some of my stuff and tell me if you'd be interested. Bloated Alchemy is a recent collab i sang on and mixed with FrozenEntropy's guitar skills and is probably the most straightforward display of my singing abilities. if you're thinking even darker: Now You might give you an idea of my range. i try new things with my voice all the time as well, so just because it's in a previous song a certain way doesn't mean i'm not versitile!

DrasticDragonfly: TOOL is into mystery... so if there is a rumor like that they normally don't try to stop it and may even incite it. but it doesn't mean he actually is or that their music is... the way i see it, they want you to find your own truth in their music. so... it's marketing B.S. try not to give up on em' because of something like that.

P.S. i'd even be interested at mixing this track too.. it just sends alot of great ideas flowing through my head...

(sorry i took up so much space)

I'm a big fan of the drum breaks, i like that one sound in there that almost sounds like some type of empty can. this track has great forward motion with the way the effcts change and shift and meld and mix. i really like the short backmasked drum(?) hits that pop in (like the last transtion at the end of the song)

and, of course, excellent production. if you haven't already, you should post some of your mixing tips in THIS thread that yohmar started. (or at least let me know if you've posted tips/methods eleswhere. i want to learn! smiley )

i love the transitions, they help pull off the changes (which work great with the overall sound). very smooth, very proffesional. it has great personality.

etgilles mentioned how well a vocal track could be placed in the mix... and i agree completely. the whole sound is very balanced (and balance is key!)

i wish my computer worked better so it wouldn't take YEARS to listen to all of your tracks. well, i better get started....

i dLoaded this awhile ago and thought i had already posted a comment.... sorry.

i really like the vocals/lyrics in this one alot. the whole song feels very sly and menaciing. Your execution of the lyrics was great. you've got alot of wat i like to call "swagger".

i don't see hip hop too much in this, but i know what you mean though.... regardless... whatever irt is i think it works very well . i like!

i absolutely LOVE the concept for this song, and it is executed in a great fashion... the bleeps, the stop and go motion, all of it... it's light-hearted and fun... gret job!

i'm going to try and download this again as i didn't get the whole thing when i tried the first time...

very creative and imaginitive.
