i really like this. my only suggestion would be for you to use the quantisize feature on some of the synth melodies...some of them sound a bit off beat. other than that this song sounds really great though. |

| I can't thank you all enough for your support! really it means a lot I will definately work on the production...I have to confess, I made this track a while ago, and I know there were some aspects that I should have "fixed up" when I mixed Linda's vocals. I'll add more variation to the drums for sure. Ponkey—thanks very very much for your info on making a hook...I don't have much experience in mixing/recording vocals, so I will definately keep what you said in mind. |

 Pros: original idea, beautiful vocals, and nice string melodies. also cool cymbal crash Cons: the levels were off—the vocals were too high, and the drums too low. also, in some sections the vocals clashed production-wise; because vocals are in the mid frequency range, if you have two different vocals (in this case male and female), they partly cancel each other out. the way to fix this is to eq and mix both of the vocal tracks so that they aren't in the same frequency range i.e. have one singer be the "backup" singer and the other be the "lead" singer...or at least thats the abreviated solution. now with all the technobabel aside...Euphoria—while i admire your creativity for making this original song, i have to say i disagree with its main point...i've been to the Gates exhibit, and yes, while i agree it may seem insensitive or snotty to build such a gigantic project while there is so much suffering in the world, you have to understand that there will always be suffering, and there will always be money that *could* have been spent to help people, such as the money multinational corporations rake in, yet you choose to make an example of an artistic project (the gates) that was completely funded by artists selling their works. instead of pointing fingers at art, i say point fingers at the cigarette companies, firearm industries, and large corporations—they should be the ones donating money. also, i find that these kinds of songs are much more powerful if you find a specific issue to support instead of general topics like "wars, famine, poverty"...for instance, the darfur genocide in the sudan is one example... I'm sorry if I seem harsh—I'm just trying to help bring you to your full potential. And I wouldn't have spent my time writing this whole thing if I didn't think you had potential |

i like this one a lot—the beautiful music and vocals compliment each other nicely. the only thing i noticed, which i see others have also, is the sound quality on the microphone...linda im not sure if there's a whole lot you can do about it besides buying a more expensive mic, but what i did when i mixed "love is" was to make subtle fades in and out of your vocal parts...this way, the contrast between the background noise and the underlying track wasnt as evident .but overall great job to both of you! |

| thanks everyone, i am really glad you thought it turned out well. at first i was a little worried because of the noise in the samples, but eventually i cleared that up with the eq. Arn—the plugin i used for that effect was PSP Nitro, i agree it is very cool. In regards to your problem, maybe you need more memory or a faster computer? that is a strange problem, maybe you should post it in the forums. | |
