My name is Christian. I'm from Melbourne Australia. I've been writing and recording my own material for nearly 20 years. I love the great english bands of the 60's. I'm a huge Beatles fan, love the Stones and the Who. Paul Weller is also a favorite as is Neil Finn. My favorite aussie band is the Hoodoo Gurus. I'm also quite partial to a texan band named Cotton Mather. They released one of the best pop records of all time in my humble opinion called Kontiki. Recorded on a digital 4 track ADAT machine. It's a pocket classic!

I started back in 1985 with some friends in a garage band using an old reel to reel tape machine. Then when I actually got some money I bought my first 4 track tape machine. I still have it to this day. A Fostex cassette based machine. Noisy as all hell! But it didn't matter. I could finally put all those ideas that were swirling round my head onto tape and my love affair / obession with writing and recording began!

Then in the early 90's I bought an 8 track machine. A Tascam. Now that was a great machine. I think I ran it into the ground. Then after 13 years of bouncing tracks and losing quality I finally made the leap into digital. I'm using a second hand Yamaha AW16G which I got off ebay. Is there anything this machine cannot do!

I just love the idea that a song can transport you away from the drab and dreary existence that we call daily life. I find when I'm tucked away in my studio late at night,I completely forget about all of life's troubles just for that tiny bit.
