At first I heard nothing going on here, then I realized headphones work better when they're plugged in smiley This is jumpin' Mick! It's got a solid engine turning underneath the hood (the patterns). Is the guitar lead live or loop? Anyway, I like it all. Works. Dig the Chicago style horn bursts.

I don't like it one bit that you're suffering Woody. A dynamic and creative craftsman of audio, metal and wood (and electronics) like you, should live to be 150! I was instantly enthralled with your synth craft the moment I joined iComp 6 or 7 years ago. I don't know how long you or anybody has on this earth--but I do know you've earned the respect of many through your artistry and your courage. You live brightly while others cower in their hollow shells like crabs under rocks. Salute!!

Unavoidable comparisons to Bob Dylan in the rhyming, but I like that smiley And it busts out a lot more energetically and flamboyant than his stuff. Has more "fun" in common with Johnny Cash's "I Been Everywhere, Man" probably than "You're Going to Make Me Lonesome When You Go." Dig it!

It's like a Bowie demo. The raw form of this has character. Perfect for one of those hidden bonus tracks. Exactly what an acoustic guitar was made to do--be out in the world somewhere with someone singing about a girl.

NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE COLORS OF SKIN by Lagusaya2 1 month ago
Don't read too much into it, Stan, lol smiley It struck me, and I was just musing, generically speaking, we seem to appreciate variation of species in everything but ourselves. There are over 150 registered breeds of dogs that people fawn over, and there aren't wars fought between Yorkie owners and Dalmation owners. But even a slight difference of ethnicity, religious belief or ideology in humans can cause xenophobia and bloodshed. We're not scared by differentiation in animals--but at a human level it intimidates us and instills fear, distrust, and tribalism. Even where there are no differences of color, we invent opposing ideologies. There must be a "bickering gene" or something...I don't pretend to understand genetics or anthropology. It strikes me as odd, though, a person may spend thousands of dollars per year to care for a single dog, but casually ignore suffering of hundreds of fellow human beings, which could be alleviated by that same money, because those suffering live in another country, or are of another race or religion. There are those who cry for dogs and cats in shelters, but never once protest civil rights violations, beatings, torture and wrongful imprisonment of *people*. We have more pity and compassion (sometimes) for lesser species than for our own. (I'm not the first person who's said this...it's a reiteration.)
Trinkets of a Pale Moon (Ruff Mix) by Tony2008 1 month ago
I almost want to say it had more of a Ziggy Stardust feel to it than Zep. There's elements of prog rock in it, too, the way the vocals play out. Has a fresh unpredictability to it (complexity).

as described--straight forward rocker...and enjoyed...re the mix, maybe pan the bass one way and the guitar the other 20/80% of each...the rhythm guitar is dominant with the drum in the mix...and put a stereo widener on the lead guitar and vocals...throw in 3-part harmony on the chorus and badaboom-badabing smiley

This came out pretty dang well considering I wrote the lyrics and recorded it in about 3 hours. Nice mixing, Ray! Something to be said for being "in the moment" and "on the spot" heheh. And, as usual, I have to ask Ray, "What *scale* is that you're playing?" Amazing fretwork.

Particularly like the vocal counter-lines on the chorus..."artfully done", plus how can you not like Pat's guitar playing smiley Yeah, they used to make albums full of cool stuff like this in the 70's...blending funk, jazz, rock, and soul. Good to hear a track like this.

Sidewalk Highway by Baboon 2 months ago
Yep, it's more a statement about idyllic childhood landscapes, upward mobility, and losing track of simple pleasures. It's not uniquely American to strive for a nice house in the suburbs and tons of electronic "toys", only to find out they don't make you as happy as when you were a kid living a very modest, unplugged existence. (And via pursuit of wealth ignoring humanity struggling all around us.) This song was inspired by countless summer nights when the whole block full of kids, teens and adults would be out on the lawns socializing. Then I imagined a homeless person looking into a modern, expensive home where people rarely go outside or talk to their neighbors and have every convenience under the sun, while he is told to "move it down the line" (leave town because he's a vagrant)...anyway, a mix-mosh of themes and nostalgia. And we all know most people are only a few paychecks away from being homeless these days...while there are those with more wealth than they know what to do with, yep.
