Biography
I am a relative newcomer to the icompositions web site.
I love just about all music (rap and hip/hop excluded).
Music is truly the universal language of which I can understand but cannot speak. I am fortunately surrounded by many family members who all possess varying degrees of musical talent. My three sons are all musically gifted, although only one is realizing his God given abilities and putting them to use. I have three brothers who are also musically inclined with one performing as a professional musician his whole life.
I love the way music can express so many moods and feelings without having to utter a single word. It can inspire love, anger, compassion, joy and melancholy. Anyone who has been blessed by God with the talent to express these feelings through music is to me on a higher plain of consciousness.
Some of my musical heroes:
The Beatles (of course), specifically the composite genius of Paul McCartney and John Lennon (and not to forget George Harrison). Like the classical masters of yore, this music will never grow old... it is just as fresh today as when it was originally released. The Beatles will live on forever as does Beethovan and Mozart.
I had intended to list some of my favorite influential artists, but there is no way that I could possibly list them here and not forget some. Let me say, therefore that my interests lie in classic rock (60's and 70's), R&B, soul, country & western (mostly the newer, contemporary C&W, but also many of the early songs), some New Age, and some Gospel. I also listen to classical, some techno (love the Blue Man Group!), and many of the vocalists (Celine Dion rules!)
I am grateful to the many artists who have shared their talent with the rest of the musical world both talented and laic. I know that someday, maybe soon, I will hear a familiar tune on the radio and realize that, "...Hey I heard that song on icomp!"
