Biography
been without internet for a while back soon!
I AM THE lo-fiWho: Coreen Leclerc - Audio Production Engineer (believe it yes I went to school for it)Where: From the cold isolated northland called Ponoka, Alberta. Town of 6300.Formerly a resident of Western Canada in in general as I have lived in more places than I care to remember. Including Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. Why: Because of sonic perfection and a good deal of youthful intoxication gone bad. Some of my earlly memories were me deciding to listen to a Santana 8-track cassette and throwing the osmond cassette out. The colors of the artwork drew me in but when I put it in the stereo, the sound lit me up. It was the most incredible experience. Unfortunately it was real loud and I got a good wack on the butt. I was 3 years old. I loved it. It was much later and with no encouragement I found a life with music. Although a self destructive one. Taking sounds and making them my own. Gleefully watching the deconstruction and reconstruction of the recording industry. My roots are independent music lo-fi goodness but I recognize bands can coexists with a major support line with integrity...sort of. Music tastes are dynamic. From Skinny Puppy to Supertramp and Classical to Mingus. Directional influences are bands of substance. Neil Young, Clash. Lou Barlow, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, MC5, Kim Deal, Kim Gordon and Thuston Moore. SImply Saucer, SNFU and the Flaming lips, L7, Buzzcocks. Wendy O, The Muffs and I could go on for hours but lately I have stopped listening to too many other things so I could concentrate on my own. in the 80/90's there was me listening to David Byrne and one interview when he questioned the next "New Wave" and if it will ever exsist. I think thats when industrial music started to develop. That question was answered but was it really the answer? There were other musical directions. I wanted to explore those directions but I was not really into the idea of labels and control over my art (plus I had some major issues I needed to deal with). In 1998 I stopped playing, writing and anything art related because of personal and family issues. It wasn't until 2004 I started helping a friend with his own studio and told him I would never touch another guitar. They encouraged me but I was so fed up with the RIAA and its shenanigans I could not be bothered. My life turned back into music the day garageband was released. I got the software suite that included it and things just fell into place. Made a couple loop compositions and thought it was fun but figured I would experiment one day. Borrowed a crappy guitar and made dissillusionmentitus. I hadn't sang in years... not even in the shower. Now I have a new goal and that is to make the music I always intended but never had the facility. My studio has grown quite a bit in one year and I'm able to establish the direction of the music I am making. I still need a couple items to help with my sound direction but so far the borrowed rivera guitar is doing me great.
