just catching this. how great was this to come across?

can't believe I missed it when it was originally released.

seriously... to stumble on all these artists in one song?

this is magical. thank you!

thhanks gang! i posted this one at the request of a friend of mine who said i should. glad you all liked it!

david, there weren't any monitors and i was pretty nervous. it was my first time playing in front of an audience in many years. i may have simply slipped up. or not. or both. hehe!!!

personally, i love this kind of endorsement. it pains me that more media outlets aren't flocking to sites like iCompositions just for the fact that these sites ARE the next generation of record companies... except without the bloated beaurocracy, political networking, or money-grubbing.

thanks for posting this and congrats on the mention of your name, Vaporman! very cool!

this is a wildly great musical matchup! both of your talents excel and what you create is a "nother worldly kind of style," whatever that means. i really enjoyed this one! thxU!

Dylan is right... this is fanstastic stuff. Thanks, Dylan for pointing this one out in the chat! So glad I stopped in for a listen! i love the poetry of the lyrics and the musical layout is really so well done! thank you!

this is really, really sweet. i love this kind of piece. often times, some performers try writing for children, yet unaware that the receiving audience are adults who actually benefit from it more. i think people need more comforting at 28 than at 8 months! hehe

a terrific, warm, and lovely track! thank you!

hey gang! just got back today! wow! thank you for the kind thoughts! i agree with underground in that i also wish more folks had a positive outlook on things... i know, for me, it often times takes great effort to keep a smile on. i'm happy this one was received as intended - nothing more than a happy, jaunty number! thanks all!

jeez louise! this is truly an inspiring night for me. I discovered itiswotitis' world of sound and now I have stumbled onto this one. The musical bed that travels beneath that wonderful vocal delivery is just fantastic! this is really tight and very rich with a full pallette of sound.

really enjoyed stumbling across your music! thank you!

this is not a song, but rather a mesmerizing piece of audio art. this has such a wonderfully elaborate cinemascape about it. i absolutely love the vocal work... and the instrumentation... and the sound... it's just really fantastic! beautiful!

two words for this one: holy wow!

thank you for an incredible experience!

you know, i try my hand at the electronic biz, but i don't have nearly the understanding for the genre that you folks do. this is just a brilliant example of why i revere and admire electronic assembly musicians so much. incredible movement, uptempo moodscape, and an irresistible riff-like element make this one anyone can dig right into easily. great music! thank you!

this is a fine, mellow and cheerful piece of music. very refreshing and spirited. the percussion nicely rests behind the rest of the instrumental characters and your vocal delivery is top notch! love the sound parade going on here! this was a breath above the clouds for me today! thank you!

FINAL BATTLE by DOCTORBIZARRE 1 year ago
i don't know how someone can compose a song/piece of this kind of intensity. it's just amazing to me. the guitarwork alone is worth every moment of this one. you really took this one to the furthermost point and made it work all the way! it's on the short side, which is only a downer because it is the kind of piece that could have gone on a lot longer. however, with the intensity this piece generates, i'm actually surprised it lasted as long as it did. really well done and glad i stumbled by tonight! thanks, Doctor! nice work!
I Break Twice by nadiestar 1 year ago
i just happened to stumble into this song tonight, quite by accident.

and what i found is one of the most compelling songs i've heard online in quite a while. this is just absolutely fantastic! the vocal performance is wonderful and soulful without being excessive or dwelling. the musical performance(s) are simply outstanding.

this gets my ridiculously good song of the night vote! of course, i was aghast not to see the download button, because this is a no-brain instant download otherwise.

thank you for a wonderful stumbling! looking forward to more!

i didn't expect such a warm, inviting piece of music upon stumbling into this one. i came in off the chat and to my delight, here this piece was. a wonderful performance and a very uplifting and mood setting song. it's just beautiful and personifies what a "sunday jam" should be! thank you!!!
Blue Train by etgilles 1 year ago
what rains nostalgic for me, is that i got my start in the subways of Boston. picturing you down below in that murky setting put me right back with you. i love the person coughing... man, so many memories. that old lady... the sad businessman crying... the drunks... getting mugged for $3 dollars...

your voice is so freaking wonderful. the depth resonates with life experience and carries the intimacy of this fine song into deeper regions than intially i expected. the guitar is simple and clean, yet permits your vocal to really affect the overall performance so well.

a truly inspiring and remarkable piece of music. i am surprised it took me this long to find it, but i am very happy i did. thank you!

and yeah... this song IS dope! smiley

i'm looking forward to what you do next!

this was a rollicking good time! the moving imagery that this piece creates is just stunning. and while the words you speak certainly don't take anything away, they are actually not even necessary for this one. however, i love that you DID add a vocal track. i cannot really understand what is being said, but that is part of the lure of this one.

a great job on this and the performance is fabulous! brilliant work, as always! thank you!

i'm feeling a bit slack tonight. i've checked into about eight songs and each one has presented something completely unique and fresh. each so different from the last, that i am a bit stricken by it all.

this is absolutely no different. a sensational groove platform that gives you room to explore and experiment without ever missing a queue. the guitarwork is just terrific! really great stuff in this one!

a total joy to step into this piece. really well put together! thank you!

jeez louise! you never cease to impress or amaze me.

this is just absolutely transcendant. it goes beyond the normal pale of song and gets right into the soul of the experience. truly a magnificent gift you've got.

i am truly in awe, and i honestly NEVER say that! this is just flipping brilliant!

thank you!

i can only agree with what the others have said.

to be honest with you, i'd actually challenge you to a piece like this without ANY effects.

your playing is clean and beautiful, but for me, the effects take a bit away from the organic nature of your talent.

just my thoughts. this is a majestic and lovely piece all the way! thank you!

okay, i am posting *before* listening. i know, it's crazy! hehe

i'm posting first to say that the early era of Pink Floyd's music, for me, is something I hold dear. It reflects the prime years of my musical youth and I am more bonded to it more than most of their later work.

Julia Dream is a fantastic, lost gem. I am so delighted that two of my favorite online artists took this one on! I cannot wait to hear it!!! so... here goes! I'll reply back shortly!

---- shortly after...

holy crap!! i don't know what i'm expected to write here, but jeez louise, this was brilliant!!

Vocally: Resbie, you know i love your voice, but you've really just nailed this one WAY beyond expectation. the original is obviously wonderful, but you have taken this and truly brought it home. You own this now. It is signature. absolutely outstanding presentation!!

musically: not a generic cover of an obscure song; rather, a full on remake that is way too uncommon with this type of cover. this is a Hollywood "big budget" remake, but without all the money BS and with ALL of the love and care this song deserves! every tidbit of sound is so eloquantly crafted and homages the original song. yet, the piece remains so unique unto itself, that again, the idea that this is your signature piece, owned and operated by the two of you, stands mighty clear.

simply a stunning song and brilliantly, brilliantly executed and performed. THANK YOU!

* i should note my disappointment at not being able to download this. how can I get a copy?
seriously. this was a real treat for me, and i'm sure, for the whole community!

sparse is my kind of music. your voice is sensational here! something i enjoy doing in my own music, which you do here magnificently, is capture the dimension of space by utilizing a minimal presentation of elements. such a peaceful tune yet so thoughtful! great words!

clicked onto this one from your comment on someone else's song! i like how that works! hehe!

thank you, Stevel! add me to your fanbase!
Children of the Revolution (Cover) by peterbauckham 1 year ago
i really didn't expect this! wow! this is just really a fantastic version! wow! the drive is really heavy and your vocal is really well suited for this! wow! i'm not such a fan of the drum looping, but it is well balanced against the other elements of the song and keeps to itself nicely. good job on that! did i mention wow? wow! great stuff!
Graffiti Artist by peterbauckham 1 year ago
this is such an inspired piece. i respect your feelings on this subject and know that you understand that folks may not share your point of view.

you've taken the bitter frustration to a better and more evocative level and applied it to music. That alone is just wonderful! I applaud your position and the outlet you chose.

art, like music, is such a subjective creature. i'll take this song over a tagged mailbox, anyday!

thank you for your music and the thought provoking message you bring with it!

a remarkable piece of music, to say the least. the vocal treatment is not unique, but the way you handle the dramatic inflections really makes it your own and makes it work extremely well. this is a brilliant piece of music. very reflective of the 1980s, yet fresh and contemporary all the way.

fantastic song! thank you so much! a pleasure and a treat.

holymoly! this is just brilliant! right from the surrealist start into the anthemic take-off!

this is not your typical rock song, it's more like the epic pieces of the 70s and 80s... it's kind of like Styx meets Guns n' Roses. jeez, those vocals are killer!

Powerful and smart. great job on this one! wow!

what a remarkable song. i can't really add much beyond what others have detailed, except that i am just blown out by this one. your vocal is absolutely great. it comes off deep and rich, the way most vocalists merely try to be (myself included!).

the guitarwork is sensational and those wonderful bits of sound traveling through the piece are just perfect. really perfect.

a brain-free download! thank yoU!
Watching The Detectives (Costello cover) by GumboStu 1 year ago
wow! i didn't expect this when i came in the room. you've really taken this classic and made it your own! not an easy task when you're talking about about Elvis. seriously.

and for the record, to "pwned" is "one beyond being owned." therefore, "pwnage" is, in my translation, that you have owned this song, once beyond owning.

i think. ugh.

hehe... really fun cover here, Stu! thank you!
Halloween State Of Mind by GumboStu 1 year ago
i've mentioned this elsewhere, but very much worth repeating.

an terrific, odd song and so well assembled. the charm is the vocal work, though the music lure is a smirking illusion.

i love that that the subject matter is one of fear, oversensory perception, and dischord yet the the delivery is so bouncy and cheerful... playful.

it's as though, despite being completely waffed-up by illusion/delusion and paranoia, the narrator (you) is rejoicing and reveling. you recognize that you are in a prison of the mind, yet happy about it... and that's what's so great!

it's a tricky task to take a subject like this and spin it with such an upbeat glow. It's a testament to your craftsmith and your natural ear. great work as always! loving this one!

jeez louise! this just kicked my butt all over the site!

love the structure of this one. it starts and doesn't let up, but never overwhelms! i also love the balance going on. no character/instrument is out in front of another... equal space for everything. brilliant!

really great on this! thank yoU!
Portrait Of A Fantasy by mbehar 1 year ago
there's not much more i can add to this. you are an incredible composer. i don't quite know how someone can "think" in classical terms, but to be able to pull it off without being stale, boring, or copying something else is something to behold... you, of course, make it seem easy to assemble an inviting work that flares nostalgia and remains incredibly fresh! this should be getting much wider airplay from a large scale audience. excellent work as always!! thank you!

Psycho (no drums) by Geechi3 1 year ago
hey! just realized you were also a Bostonian! excellent!

having sunk into the drum version of this, i was delighted to come back to this version and revel in the silence of it. The haunting quality is remarkable and the honestly of your voice is crystal clear. i love that.

again, i hope someone picks this one up and does something amazing with it.

i hope you don't take this version down. it's a worthy addition to keep in your collection, even just as a demo-able reference for folks to enjoy later.

thanks again for sharing this! great vocal work!
Psycho by Geechi3 1 year ago
i listened to the "w/o drums" version first and it kind of left me curious. then i saw this version and i understood better. i really wish this one wasn't left out in the cold. your voice is fantastic and i love where the piece is going, it just needs a bit of TLC to really be complete.

the drum loop is actually pretty decent and makes for a good metronome for your vocal work. did i mention the vocal is fantastic? yeah. it is.

it would be a shame to see this one not receive the full treatment it deserves, because there is something wonderful waiting within it. i hope some skilled 'smith can conjure up the right stage for this. i'm really happy you shared this! thank you!

oh... and it's hardly boring. not even close!

Bored to death by irok 1 year ago
i found myself bopping along to this. it's got such potential with a vocal track of the right kind to accompany it. as it is, i like the way it moves. it's got a playful nature about it and the brightness is uplifting. however, the downward structure adds a tone of underlying suspense or question. there's also potential for a story in this one.

i enjoyed this, though i don't think "Folk" is the right category for it. "Instrumental," or even "Pop" might be more accurate.

thank you for sharing this!

i've listened to about a dozen songs tonight, and this is the last one. how happy am I that this one was the last? it's the perfect song to end a wonderful, cool summer night in June. I don't have any idea what you're saying, but the mood of the song is just a mellow drive along song, suited for nothing more than reclining and falling into easily.

a wonderful, wonderful song. the wah guitar was a perfect and clever addition! nice going!

thank you for this one!

this one got me right away, just from the clown image. musically, you captured my ear immediately and i fell right in with this one without noticing. i have to honestly admit, i'm sitting here listening again because that drum beat was just infectious. the whole production of this, with all the little audio goodies in there, is just a pure treat.

i kept waiting for a vocal to come in, but when i realized there was none, it allowed me to sink into the music even deeper. this is really well done. congrats on this one! great stuff!

this piece is like sunbathing. i can't explain that beyond the part that is relaxing and the part that is squinting from the brightness in your eyes. both equally wonderful!

MACHINE GUN MAN by Barretok 1 year ago
right from the start of this one, you know you're stepping into something unique. but of course, that's always the case with your music, Barretok. this piece is tight. it really gets to the point of itself and maintains it's fluid movement all the way.

things i like the most are the break points, the strolling bass line, the percussion, the searing guitar - woah, and the signature vocal work. great job on this, my friend! another classic 4U.

thank you!

coming in late on this one.

what can i say that hasn't been said? this is just such an incredibly well produced number, it's almost sinful how good it is. Every performance on this track is sensational. flawless!

you all really need to be selling this kind of music in a large, commercial format. There's just not enough of this kind of music being recorded these days. And the artists that are doing it, well, the good ones are rare and far between.

this is just great music. congratulations to everyone involved.

Neck Romantic by Boris_the_Bull 1 year ago
thank you all for the kind feedback! Lyrics should be there, FYI.

also, someone asked me in a private message what the film was that i borrowed the audio clips from... i have to be honest and admit that all the voices are mine. i am a BIG fan of the campy/cliché horror films of the 1950's and 1960's, so this piece was merely an homage of sorts to that era. The voice over bits are just common clichés you might find from those kinds of films.

The "characters" are: Mary, John, The Professor, and the Crazy Old Woman (laughing).

Thanks again and I'm happy this one was well recieved. It is my first ever attempt at Rap.

probably my last, too! hehe!!

thanks mbehar and Barretok. it's disgusting how much i love baseball. the voice (and the man in the song art) is Babe Ruth from his famous "farewell from baseball" speech. wow, David! this is really exciting stuff! this sounds like the kind of thing where you sat down, turned on, and the result just poured out without much effort! i know that's not true, but when a piece this well mixed and constructed sounds effortless, that means a lot.

really, really great stuff! i'm blown away! ;o)

i love the musical bed floating beneath this piece. some wonderful things going on in there. however, at risk of sounding heady, i think the vocal may be too loud for the music. for me, the words are distracting me. i'm guessing that if you dropped the vocal down to match the musical bed, then there might be a better balance of sound. as it is, the vocal comes slightly overwhelmed my ears while the musical aspect was pushed back a bit.

i enjoyed this one, but i always want to present my honest feedback. hope it was healthy!

The more i hear from you, the more I find your work compelling, interesting, and always unique. you approach each piece with the same sort of pallette, but always wind up with a piece that is different and unlike the previous, but with similar flavor. it's fantastic to be able to do that.

i was actually waiting to hear a vocal part here. not needed, but was waiting for it. hehe!

musically aside, this is a crazy story. unfortunate and painful to hear. wow.

musically, i have to agree with PurePerversity... for me, your music is an event. you present yourself from a position which is uniquely yours and carries a world of experience in it. this piece, specifically, is more avante-garde and performance-grade than say, rock n' roll, and the political point it makes is done so in question form, not finger-pointing... i like that a lot.

i'm sorry you had to deal with this. i can relate a little bit, but not to this degree.

always a great experience hearing you. thank you!
Need to talk (needs collab!!) by Leahbanicki 1 year ago

okay, i understand what you're saying about needing elements to enhance this one. the percussion specifically distracted me in this version (the crashes, especially). the song is too soft for crashes, in my opinion.

i love the temperment of the song and the wonderful message. it makes me think of a woman - my best friend - whom i lost several years ago. the song has that much appeal and has hit-ness all over it.

i would love to hear this with nothing but your voice, and maybe in bridging parts have the flute come in. i don't think it needs piano, guitar, or especially drums/percussion. but that's just me, of course.

however, in contrast, this is the kind of song that could be played with. it could be a soft, lullaby sleeper-type, yet you could really punch this one up and make a rollicking country kicker out of it, too. it's got structure and chemistry about it that could formulate into something powerful. i think of certain songs by Bonnie Raitt (sp?) and more specifically, the song HELP by The Beatles. it was written to be performed slowly and heartfelt, but in the end was done as a potboiler instead.

anyhow, this is a great beginning to a terrific song. i love the message and your voice is gold! nice going!

surprisingly upbeat and magnetic. this piece almost has a lyric to it, playfully moving along with the bed of music beneath it. i really love the way you change elements... it's subtle and never deviates from the songs overall lineation (real word?).

i know it's a silly word, but this is a totally charming piece. it's airy and free and allowed me to just let it ride over me, instead of a lot of songs in this genre which you have to kind of swallow hard to get down. if you know what i mean.

great, great job with this. i really enjoyed this a lot! thank you, JW!

i'm not a huge Neil Young fan, but i appreciate everything he's done. this is one of those songs that immediately gets your attention and like the others have said, you capture the essence of both the artist and the song well here. it's not easy to do unless you really have a good understanding of the base intent of the song. it sounds like you do! nice work!

Joanna, you more than likely know that I respond easily to this kind of music. For me, this might be the best piece you've ever put together. it's easy, raw, and it's you. Inescapably you.

i love the slight hesitations with the guitar, the confident vocal, and the traditional styling. Structurally, it's right on the heart of the whole "folk" thing, something that actually eludes me. Terrific work on this!

what can i say? i've come to expect great things whenever i see the name, Archie7777. and like everything else i've heard from you, this one comes in right where i'd expect. it's terrific. the mood, the pace, and the content (all the other players comingling in a kind of noodle-stew) all work so well together. the vocal introduction was great, as is the instrumentation.

honestly, i wish i could think like this. i try, but believe me, you make this kind of music sound reaaaaally easy! great stuff!

from the initial phrasing of the guitar, i knew something was coming. the vocal isn't as crisp as the guitar, and i do wish i could've read along with this one.

"we're searching hard for a pulse. there's a chance that one of us will run, but the thought is interrupted when the heater kicks on." brilliant words!

this is the kind of piece that could be done in a variety of ways... very Poppish, folksy, and even perhaps Punk. it translates across genres, both musically and lyrically.

i enjoyed this one a lot. meaningful without being blamey or preachy. great stuff! thank you, THTTG!
Rome by David Ross 1 year ago

as described, this is a mellow acoustic piece. but what the description does not convey is just how warm and sincerely beautiful this lovely piece of music is. while the title suggests many views of what Rome may be (ancient, a trip to Rome, coming from Rome, roaming, etc), the piece communicates the physical state of movement and an emotionally reposed state.

the piece could've gone on for a long time and i wouldn't have minded one bit. this could be considered New Age as well as Acoustic, but for me it is Grounding Music. the kind that you just sit back and ride with. the subtle and quiet effects aren't necessary but work well to keep that motion going. very fresh and again, lovely. thanks David!

jeez louise! this is dynamite stuff! holy cow! this style of music is so difficult to pull off if you don't know exactly what you intend it to come out like. You all make this sound so easy and natural... it's a bit deceptive! the guitar work is just ridiculous, but you probably know that. hehe!

glad to have come across this one! looking forward to what comes next! great job on this!

you've got an incredible voice. but also, the music behind your voice is approached so sensitively that they work incredibly well together. jeez louise, this is great stuff!

i'm happy you posted this. it is my introduction to your music and what an intro! you've got an amazing voice! fantastic piece of music, for sure. your contribution, in my opinion, takes a living song and gives it purpose. fabulous! thank you!!!

the only thing i don't like about iComps is that i often miss SO much incredible music.

the best part of this piece is how long it is. more times than i prefer, a piece like this is cut short and just as the mood and atmosphere begins to permeate the skin, the song stops. not the case here, tho. this one allows the listener to have an experience with the song. the feeling swoons in slow and gets in without violation, like candlewax on the table.

i think mbehar hit it with the great "eavesdropping" analogy. listening to this was akin to being in the room while an artist is deep into a painting, late in the evening when everyone else is asleep. great stuff and already downloaded! looking forward to listening to more of your music! thank you!

this is so great. pure jazz... i don't much about the creation of this genre of music, but i have always loved Miles, Coltrane, Garland, and so on (not well edumacated on Jazz). This is classic jazz, in my ear. and the way it moves seems to follow the traditional style of the classic artists. i can't comment on what is working or not because to me it sounds like everything is working just great. this is terrific music! thank you! consider this one Favorited and Downloaded!

this is what i'd call Friday-night-pick-up-and-jam-rock-after-a-long-week music.

it's got a raw and natural feel which is familiar to any traditional instrumental player. the guitar work is fun and nasty, while the rythym section just drives alone - this would be fantastic in some kind of indie film denoting bad-***edness.

i don't know, i like the quick-cut ending. again, in that indie-film style, it would be where the bad-***ed character walks up to a door and the music cuts out sharply as the character flings the door open and says, "where's my mum?"

i'm joking around, of course, but a piece of this nature can easily draw up a lot of imagery. this was fun!

woah, right off the guitar sears nicely! your jazz influence is highly noticeable here. in fact, while the anthemic nature of this one is "rock," for me it has a much jazzier flavor. i was a little bummed when it closed out, to be honest. terrific music - downloaded!

thoughts from the bull...

from one XBox gamer to another (and an old fan of Blinx, too... although I am quite partial to Voodoo Vince, myself!), this is a refreshing and inspired piece. it's fun, light, and yet contemporary.

some of the sounds could even easily become annoying - that whole "all-digital" thing - but you managed and arranged it well and in a way that it maintained a good flow. this was an easy listen and i am really looking forward to what you all put together next!

thanks Charlene and David! great collaboration!!! made my morning!

(if you haven't played Voodoo Vince, you really need to! the music is New Orleans based and absolutely wonderful! the game is brilliant!)
