Driller's Regret by pharmakeus 7 months ago
Love your original stuff the most - and also dug hearing about the method to the madness. I myself always find it a passive aggressive challenge against myself to try to record with a mic while my lava lamp is still on. The twisting, turning and contorting to weird spaces in my basement studio has become a fetish of sorts. Oh, is that too much information? smiley
En Helt Ny Karriär by Dyl 7 months ago
I like the sheer exuberance and excitement Petra brings to the performance. Good energy in the instrumental backing Dyl to match the vocal. Brings back the Kim Deal days for me. Cool band outro taking this out.
Fortunate Son (CCR Cover) by Baboon 7 months ago
I expected nothing less than tour de force balls out of boxer shorts brilliance. And it delivered in every note, beat and measure.

I like the depth you create in the recording with just vocal and guitar - reminds me of the early Paul Simon recordings for the way he used the deep verbs.

Crab Walk by LaFayette 8 months ago
What I like most about this tune is how you let the groove just infect the listener before bringing the lead piano in. Also dig the turn-around lick - cool chords.
Boy In The Blue Sky (Studio Mix) by SteveScott 8 months ago
I really enjoyed listening to the tune while reading the mixing process you achieved. I know you discovered like I have in the mix process that the talents of real engineers with top end pro gear can really make a difference.

You Ain't Goin' Nowhere by BossHook 8 months ago
Thanks for stopping by everyone. I was test driving the new Blue Yeti Pro USB mic which is beastly good - I just didn't have a producer's touch with it yet for correct levels and buffering and that leaves the vocals a bit timid.

But for Dylan and Petra - I'd sing through a paper cone to show my admiration for their musical friendship.

Apologize by Vixen 8 months ago
This is a tour de force that captures all of your wit and vocal dramatics. You sell it so well and the musical arrangement is fantastic. Reminds me of the Bette Midler and Barry Manilow collaboration some years ago - and I mean that as a total compliment.
DOWN ON THE CORNER by KCsGROOVE 8 months ago
Of course I always dig your writing and performance - but here the production shines - like the keyed horn section punches up the groove just right.
LULLABY FOR LUKE by SISTERS 8 months ago
There is nothing more disarming and innocent than a lullaby. Wonderful piano piece, playing and a great vocal accompaniment. You go real low here, don't think I've heard your lower range down there - such a versatile voice!

I applaud your ability to put on your great tunesmith hat and to rise to the occasion Ed. You have a unique ability to put a smile on the face of adversity - like Haggard - keep on truckin, brother.
Plastic Toy Kazoo by Bachthoven 10 months ago
I love the concept of the kazoo slinger - very clever writing and such a fun tune. Don't worry about the white noise, soon enough you can get a decent mic for a few bucks that will fine for guitar and vocal.

Forever Yours (Jazz Version) by LaFayette 10 months ago
The haunting restraint is excellent in both vocal and music performance. Soulful jazz at its best.
Four On Six by mre 10 months ago
The real deal. I am always very impressed by live recording jazz around here - it's the actual essence. Great tone for all of you - even the drummer's cymbals have that right tone!
Carol, Always by My Side by pharmakeus 10 months ago
Feels like somewhere between the Cars and that awesome sax work in the Foreigner tune.
Great collab touches to a powerful effort from Michael.
Someday Maybe by Beatle128 10 months ago
You incorporate the fine arrangement nods from the Fab as well as all those that were borne out of Beatlemania (Grass Roots, Gerry Pacemaker, etc.)

A very well written song - I love the chorus hook. More of that 12 string Rick!

Road To Oblivion by Dyl 10 months ago
Always a right on rawness to your interpretations. Your artistry in making them your own is tops.
Don't Feel Sorry For Me by Naaji 10 months ago
To be a music theory snob you actually do not rip Pachabel's melody because you resolve with a different chord - so no worries! The vocal effect is very 80's retro for me. Your spoken part has a bit of a husky French to it - almost like you were imitating Dyl's voice or something - and I LIKE!
The Way(Fastball cover) by Drugon_voice 10 months ago
I remember this one! You did a fine job with all the vocals and guitar work. I like your vocal passion - do it bro!

Perpetuum Mobile IV by soulima 10 months ago

I love when sound maestros like yourself dig back into the old bag of tricks with the old sounds. Nice emo feel to the tune.
How It Ends by Sabine 10 months ago
To me it is better to record a real piano, warts and all, than the processed fakes. I like the depth of the piano recording. The drama and 'unfolding' of the vocal and lyrics really lends itself to a theatrical production. Nice emotion in your playing and singing.

I Came To Hear The Music by RedthruNthru 10 months ago
I am always amazed returning from an absence of the discovery of such great performances and unique recordings. The combination of the brilliant guitar work and soulful singing here is great. Donna, you bring all the warmth that this song deserves in your singing. Dan - masterful "potting" as I call it working your volume pot on the strat.
The Nearness Of You by RedthruNthru 10 months ago
Wow I missed this earlier - what a fab jazz collab. Great playing and that inimitable voice, so classy and a wonderful vibrato!
I Do Believe by nlsn 10 months ago
The descending major seven progression really sets this up nicely. I like how you kept the mood of this light and airy - fits this fine writing of yours. Reminds me of something John Sebastian might have in his bag of tricks!
Brick by Brick by TessCrazy 10 months ago
The vocal energy is great and the chord progession as Nlsn said is easy on the ears. The echo harmonies are a great hook. Songwriter's critique: The second verse is a winner, the first one could be rewritten a bit more cohesive in imagery. Who's chasing you? The memories? Bill collectors? Other dudes? You get the picture! Good luck.

Faller by brnPetra 10 months ago
There's an undeniable alt country hop a long to this. I like the power you bring to the chorus when you sing out strong. I'm sure Dyl will know this reference but the writing and recording here reminds me of Neko Case, one of my favs.
Waiting in Vain by imadesentana 10 months ago
Very very soulful and beautiful. Your instrument choice is very unique and makes it such a personal version of the song.
Another Fool by aaront 10 months ago
I like the bad a$$ attitude on this. Really tight and I love how you recorded the vocal - the limited processing and whatever you did really gives it presence.
Let Me Be by Bachthoven 10 months ago
