| @Cinderella it's a combination of stuff. I play all the instruments in my mixes: the keys, bass, drum programming, synths & the actual production mix & mastering. sometimes i use the original music that the artist has, sometimes I come up with a totally different arrangement. & not all of them are pros, a couple are but most are amateurs. & with their full permission of course. in some collabs that I did with fellow icompers, Tom Devine & Ken (zarizarikun) & Ian (murphymusic), they played the guitar parts that they sent to me, & I mixed those in with the music that i came up with & to be honest, I wouldnt be able to do this without icomps & a few other musician's sites. of course, its not always been smooth sailing, there was one artist that I did a mix for (not from icomps), & before I knew it she was selling the mix in itunes (with no attribution at all to me) & she signed up with a label. I complained to the label about it & they put down my mix & came up with something else, oh well |
