White Man in Hammersmith Palais (live clash cover) by RadioRebelde 3 years ago
Awesome!
This is my favourite Clash song too.
Here's my band covering it (I usually just do background vocals, but I sing lead on this one).

Zallaz is right, the world could use Joe Strummer right about now.

i had nevr heard the original, so I looked it up on youtube. Boring and melancholy. Your version is way better. Great arrangement, great kick in the chorus. Well done.

This may be the best song I have ever heard on this site. So simple and powerful. Just amazing. I can not come up with enough superlatives.

This is much better, drums are a lot crisper. The song has great energy. Love the backing vocals and bouncy bass line.

I really like this, but I'm trying to decide if the vocals are cool or annoying. It's a very fine line smiley
It certainly chugs along.

A New England (Billy Bragg Cover) by CaptSandwich 5 years ago
Thanks! This was kind of a joke, poking fun at those punk bands that throw an off beat guitar in and call it ska. One take on everything except the bass, no post production at all, just set the track volume and let it rip. smiley

Too funny! I hated this show when I was a kid. Supid canadian content laws.
Here's the lyrics, btw : http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/show/CTVShows/20060412/thelittlesthobo_default/20060412/

Very cool. I like your sound a lot, a little hissy, but that just adds to the lo-fi feel. Do you track these? It sounds like a band sitting around a single mic. The only thing I can find to criticize is that the vocals jump out a couple of times, they don't clip, but the level jumps a lot. Other than that, great stuff.

This is well played and produced, but it gets kind of repetitive, probably because of all the stops and starts with the drums. I really like the surf guitar part. Change it up a little more, a key shift or bridge would make it more interesting

My band does a version of this. Check out a live clip (with guest sax players, unrehearsed):

Loneliness by CaptSandwich 5 years ago
Thanks guys. I agree about the guitars. I originally did this with a more reggae beat and after I recorded it all, I noticed that the beat didn't quite sound right and put a straighter beat in it. That's when I noticed the guitar issue.

Love the DK's.
Cool cover, very heavy. Could use a litle more dynamics to build a lttle more tension, but still very good.
Add vocals!

Excellent. A different vision of the song that maintains the mood of the original. Great harmonies. You should be proud.

Thanks. This was fun. I tried to take it in a different direction than I usually would go. Everything in there was loops & I could have spent days on it.
Storm Warning by CaptSandwich 6 years ago
Thanks. I have re-mixed it to bring uo the guitar, clean up the delay, etc. Give the re-mix a listen. smiley

Excellent cover!
Very ethereal, but still captures the mood of the original.
