Biography
Causa Mortis is the name of my one-man band; really, more of a pseudonym (real name Andy Akridge). I've been playing guitar for about twenty years and have been in a number of bands, but while I love playing, I enjoy composing even more. I have uploaded a number of rough drafts of my compositions, some of which have very rough mixes. One day I will go back and polish them up (meanwhile, since I've mixed on headphones, you might want to use headphones to listen, otherwise it will sound uneven.) In the meantime, I hope that you will listen and enjoy them. I am not a singer, so it is all instrumental. My most recent efforts tend to be a bit more synth-based and complex, and I play each part (using a sampler to program the drums parts). I appreciate any inputs or suggestions, so long as they are more specific than "That sucks." If it sucks, tell me why it sucks, not just THAT it sucks. By contrast, if it works for you, that information can be helpful, too. In any event, thanks to anyone who listens! [By the way, the artist page banner was a piece contributed by a listener, whom I am embarrassed to admit I can't remember; my apologies to the artist!)

| I finally decided which commercial soft synth to buy. And the winner is... | September 1, 2008 |
My personal hatred of the term "blog". Also, after using only freeware soft synths for some time, I've decided to purchase a commercial one. The strange - no...BIZARRE - reason for switching from guitar-based to keyboard-based compositions, and the basis of my choice for which synthesizer at which to throw my money. Updates as to my collaboration to cover a well-known song...
