| Hey SteveS! Glad you enjoyed it! Lucky you to catch G. Numan! I laughed my way through the composition of this one, it's true. Yep. The original characters who made music like this didn't plan on being silly, for sure. I tried to record and EQ the whole track similar to how they did it back in the day - cheesy Sax sound and all! What do you think of my 80s artwork? | |

| After reading your bio page, I thought I detected most notably the influences of Bob James, Alan Parsons, George Benson, and Telephone. The improvisational quality and instrumentation of this track creates an unusual fusion of style, authentically your own, but rooted in tradition. C'est Jazz! | |

| Great track! Excellent guitar work and vox. I do like the synths. I know what you mean about dead ears after too much time listening. For my money, I'd like to hear a little more pop from the drum kit (kick - snare), but what you have is beautifully balanced. | |

| Great ambient mix. Feels like excellent soundtrack material. Reminds me of Tangerine Dream. Love the random feeling of the pitchy synth. I would like to hear a different choice for the DX Electric Piano - just a personal preference, I've never been fond of that sound unless it's specific for a 80's throwback track. | |
| Lady In The Midnight Show by tricky | 1 year ago |
| This is fantastic! Modern country and retro pop rolled into one. When was this composed? It feels like it could have been written in the 1970's and sounds as if it were recorded today. Such a simple, yet very effective tune - that's so hard to do! Thanks for this. | |

| You're Still You by Jeremy_White | 1 year ago |
| Jeremy, you have a beautiful quality to your voice. Your performance is first rate. I have always admired Josh Groban, and if there is any popular singer these days to emulate, he is an excellent choice. My father taught voice for nearly 50 years, and while I resisted studiying with him (big mistake) and chose to rebel by choosing not to become a singer, much of his "method" wore off on me. Perhaps the hardest element of vocal performance is to remain relaxed (though energized) while singing. You have accomplished that to a great degree. My father used to refer to singing as sustained shouting. Sounds easy. We know it ain't, don't we. Supporting a tone with the right amount of breath is key. My trombone teacher (yes, that is what I chose) used to slap me on the back and shout for me to blow through the note. It's a bit of a metaphysical comment, but that is exactly the key to success for beautiful singing. The vocal chords (or Folds to be more precise) are like a brass player's embouchure, the regulation of air through this mechanism is what produces sound. Too much pressure and the embouchure tires and sounds constricted, too little pressure and the note does not play. You are well on your way (and well ahead of my ability) to singing like Josh Groban. Stay relaxed, work on sustaining your notes with ease and keep posting these wonderful tracks! | |

| The genius of this song - in fact, all of Don McLean's work - lies in it's complicated simplicity. There is a quality in the harmonic structure that some how seems to resonate deep down. Paired with lyrics that are nearly unparalelled for their story telling beauty, I have always been fascinated by McLean's music. Our two versions couldn't be any more disparate; you have captured the humanity of Mclean's words and music (expertly performed!), while I have sought after a ethereal, spiritual rendering. Thank you for leading me here. | |
| All the Young Dooods (David Bowie Cover) by Baboon | 1 year ago |
| An exceptional and faithful rendition of this classic. Brilliantly performed. Don't know if you saw the program, but VH1 did a Top 100 Artists of All Time, recently, and Bowie was ranked 12th. 12th!? Not even in the top ten!!!? Behind Prince!? I don't dislike Prince, but... if it weren't for David Bowie (and the NY Dolls) there would be no Prince! Ok. Great track. One comment, though. I would like to hear more bottom end in the mix. I can't pick out the bass. | |
| Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) Don McLean cover by Citizencal2 | 1 year ago |
| Baboon, I recognize that the whisper beginning can be off-putting. I'm glad it didn't deter you from listening to the entire track. Your critique is correct. I fretted over the beginning for quite some time. I tried singing it, but somehow, I felt it just laid there - perhaps you won't believe me, but I'm very self-conscious about my voice, and often that feeling interferes with my decision making musically. Anywayy, I whispered the first verse out of desperation while arranging this piece, and felt that it was a decent compromise for creating the feeling I was after. Frankly, I've grown a little tired of the whisper, too. Maybe I'll return to this composition some time in future and try a different beginning. For now, thank you for your comment, and to all who listen, thanks! Citi |

| Thank you for the comments, fellow icompers. I really have no way of judging whether what I've posted has been well received unless I get comments, favs, or downloads. Not that you have to like it to leave a comment, frankly, please leave one if you don't like it, and tell me what you don't like. Anyway, it's always good to see that someone is listening. SteveScott, I do have another Bowie in the works, I just haven't felt it recently - there are always 5 or 6 nearly finished tracks, some which never get done. Such is life. | |

| Steve, you can EQ midi drums individually as if you miked them in a studio. I don't remember where I saw it, but if you search youtube under Logic/midi drum/EQ (or something like that) there is a great tutorial about how to best create the effect you need/want for your drums. It involved the EXS24, but I know there are also tutorials using the Ultrabeat EQ's. Perhaps these may help and then I would just mess around with the technique until your ear tells you it's right. By the way, I love this track. Well done! | |

| Snow Angel by obbster | 1 year ago |
| Epic and cool. Track builds nicely. Vocals are well done, but a little dry. This type of "power ballad" could use a little reverb and delay on your vocals - it gives it that "inner space" feeling, echoes of time and that sort of thing, you know? Same for piano, too - a little too dry. This track is very well conceived, nonetheless, and I thank you for posting. Merry Christmas! | |

| Trauma by help420me | 1 year ago |
| I think you've succeded admirably creating your layers. The mix is too dead center, however. Try picking out each track with EQ to give them each their own space in the mix. After that, pan your tracks out wider and this will give your work a more dynamic feel. | |
| Black Ops by survival | 1 year ago |
| Really well done. Has a Hans Zimmer feel to it. Darkly heroic theme. I'd like to hear more. Is that the entire piece? This is worth expanding and creating a complete composition. You've got a great central theme, but I'd like to hear a more developed story. As a suggestion, perhaps try creating some tension before the piece starts with a quiet section, building up harmonically to the Bang! (drum), and then we're off... etc. Just a thought. | |

| Factory by metfan31 | 1 year ago |
| Very visceral, muscular track. I'd like to hear a little more low end. Sometimes these tracks sound one way and then another depending on the method of listening. Kick bass has a nice thump to it - maybe bass line could use a little more separation in the EQ. I'm no expert and frequently torment myself over the mixing process (sometimes I get it, sometimes I miss). I think what you've created is great, very smartly balanced track, just a little more low-mid end frequency. I've listened to this track 3 times now - first on Harmon Cardon Soundsticks, then Roland DS-5 monitors, and finally through headphones (Sennheisser) - and my impression remains the same. | |

Brilliantly conceived pop. Super fun track. Your vocals and that classic 80's guitar solo Pop-Rock! There is real humor in this track, especially in your choices of instrumentation - lot's of sly cliches.
