![]() I really want to give you a 5 for production. For as good as the performance/composition is the production would have given it a 5 IMO. I am giving you hard critique because I know you will persivier. The opening scat(vox) could be panned for both sides and not just the right? Nice phase on the kit&bass especially during the organ , synth solo!! Nice overall dynamic mix, best I've heard here. Allthough it could be more open on the high end-though that could be a mp3 thing. Your conversion was @ 128K???? Would love to hear 192k or AIFF!! Keep it coming, can't wait to here more work from you!! T |

Allrighty then. As far as the synth (in the beginning), its a string patch that arppegiates a bit. I'm not sure why you dislike it Wrao? Mics for the percussion: congas(tumba-1 take, quinto&segun-another take) Senn 421. Pans(steel drums) above-Cascade M20 cheapy(actually free), bottom- Sm81 Shaker and mics perc (different takes) Audix TR40. Most of them went through a Grace 101 pre amp, and MOTU 1224 interface. Your comment about the mix is rather intriguing. I actually used a AT PROVLA stemmed out to get some tube limiting. Kind of a test to see what it sounds like, since its a outboard toy. I normally try to keep the percussion (esp. congas) down since they are in essence in the rhythm section. I guess mixinig is quite subjective as y'all may know. LOL. Could you comment more about the synth in the beginning? I kinda like it the way it is.Maybe I'm attached to it too much?

So the synths bother you? hmm, I'll recheck and see(hear) if I can understand what you you dislike. I won't listen in mono, so it'll have to wait till tonight. Also, I will have to see my session notes for what I used on the perc. Let you know later.

whoa, Wrao LOl, that is a coincidence!! I love the Kalimba Story!! Agreed the transitions are kinda lacking, They are my weak points from what I gather. My goal is to make the transitions a cohesive move (all instruments). I'm trying to get both melody/harmony to mesh with the rhythm to be a unity. I guess you could understand that since you belong in thr rhythm section. Actually I do have a couple tunes in the works. I'll PM ya when I get a chance between gigs, and goofng around. Thanks T

Hey Scorp, yeah that MIDi flute has got to go. Actually I made this a while back before GB. I don't use GB much since I'm just getting into loops and soft synths. It was all sequenced /recorded into DP(Digital Performer) which is my main DAW. I'll see about fxing the flute, and re post when I get a chance.
