Born in 1957 in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and moved around as a kid (Caracas, Lima, Quebec, NYC, NJ, Quebec (again), Brussels, and Toronto). I played rock/pop/jazz/folk music my whole life, decided to study classical when I finished university, and eventually (15 years later) got a doctorate in music composition (U. of Toronto). I've been teaching composition, theory, and classical guitar at an east-coast university for the past 15 years, and I've been writing music for over 30 years. My wife is also a professor (religion and culture), and I have three kids, ages 17 5, and 2.
