One big "hell yeah" is cool with me!

Thanks Memphis! I'll be coming up there to visit another friend who plays bass in a blues band and I promised I would come see her band.

I will look you up. Most likely will be in April.

I like this song too, I'm not happy with the mix.

I am in the process of remixing it now and adding the vocals as well.

I've been working hard on my voice and trying to be less shy about singing.

I have taken a course of Logic Pro from Apple and have almost finished it and will be Apple Certified in Logic Pro soon I hope.

Thanks for the comments!

This reminds me of a dark ambient song I found recently...

If I could just find the song in my iTunes database I would tell you who, but I cannot remember the artist or song name right now...

But it's one of my favorites. I like this one, too.

I like the ambience and the darkness here.

Awesome!

Obikaye: Yes, it was created with an app on my iPhone 4!

I guess I should give the folks that created the app a plug:

It's called "Air" and it was created by Sandra O'Niel & Peter Chivers and it's based on concepts by Brian Eno, hence the title of the song. I love this app, it's one of many music creation apps I have on my iPhone. Check for it in the App Store in iTunes. I think it cost like 5 bucks or so, but it's worth it!

Thanks guys for the comments and the kind words on LadyKat's mom's passing. She was the cornerstone of our family and now we are having to learn to move on without her. My father-in-law, "Dr. Zen" as we call him has to live by himself in that big old house now (along with the cats), so we are visiting him a lot and having him over to our house to watch movies to help keep his mind focused. He's a good dude.

Sorry the song's so long. I always seem to get long-winded with my music.

I guess it comes from all those years listening to concept music by Pink Floyd and Yes that affected the way my music comes out. I like to tell a "sonic story" with my music.

Make sure you listen with your headphones. That's where the real "trip" comes in. It's designed that way.

Peace to you all...

Make sure you hug your loved ones as much as possible.

DjDetski,

Thanks so much! I liked the beat as well, it fell together so easily for this song, I used 3 different types of drum machine sounds to get the sound I got, and I'm with you... I loved the beat from the moment I heard it once I had it working!

Sometimes I mix as I record, so I get an idea of how the song is going to come together. I then use sounds that compliment the other sounds and beats. That's how this song came together!

Peace,

Vegetal,

Good to hear from you again, hope you are feeling better!

This tune is another experimental ambient song and not everyone will like this sort of thing. I have one friend who asked me why I wasted my time even creating this one! He's a hardcore rock & roller and thinks anything that's not heavy metal is a waste of time.

I just laugh. I refuse to corner myself in any type of music, I love all kinds (with a few exceptions) and love to experiment. Like I have said many times, I am not attempting to create Top 10 Music here. I'm just having fun!

DJDetski,

Many, many thanks for your words of support and praise. I had so much fun creating the original version, and when I discovered the master tracks on an old hard drive recently, doing the remix and adding more synths and the original speech by Thomas Alva Edison back into the mix paid off quite nicely!

Hey You Robot (Birthday Remix) by DJShadowkat 1 year ago
Thanks for the comments and the ratings!

I actually thought of you while I was doing the synth strings, which I beefed up from the original recording! I noticed that I was a bit sloppy in my timing on the original tracks, so I relaid them completely. This time I used more Cellos and Violas.

I did not do the robot voice, but I did treat the daylights out of it! That's a loop I found somewhere, but where exactly is hard to determine as I have downloaded so many free loops and purchased even more. (I've got about 100 gigs of loops, vst's, EXS sounds and soft synths).

I'll have to pull up the original loop to tell exactly what he says, but it's something like "Hey you robot, you can see, (something) the warnings, doo doo doo".

Wednesday will be a good day for me, I've got a new job and my wife and I plan to go out for dinner with friends and family.

Beat Minister (Original Version) by DJShadowkat 1 year ago
Actually, all the voices are one: Thomas Alva Edison, Inventor of the Light Bulb and so many other things.

I ran his voice through a vocoder, then through a gadget that can change voices into anything you want and then through a phase shifter and then mixed between the different tracks of the voice and faded in and out of each one to get the effect I was trying to get; the voice shifting through time and space.

I think it worked. This is a neat little tune, I like it even though there are mistakes and I could have done better. But I did this song in 2007 or so, I've come a long way and so has my software since then!!

The synths are pretty cool, they are just some standard garageband EXS instruments from the 2007 version. I like them, they are spooky and bubbly all at the same time. There's a couple of loops in there that are cool sounding too.

Thanks for the comments and the stars!
