I'm a singer and a guitarist .. and probably the least prolific long standing contributor to icomps (I've been here over 4 years now !)
I've been described as a vocal chameleon (or a musical tart), I sing / write songs in a range of styles... from country ballads to rock. My listening tastes range all the way from Metal, Rock and Blues to Funk, Jazz, a bit of Blue Grass, Country, Pop and even a bit of Dance.
I love Garageband and iCompositions, it's given me the opportunity to collaborate with some really cool musicians from all over the world .. including some from Brizzel and Brum !
My latest songs ..
STAND FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE
I'm not sure what to say about this one, it just happened .. conflicts in Iraq / Afghanistan, elections are in the air, the forum threads here .. it's all contributed I guess.
It is a political song, without any leaning one way or the other .. it's about standing up for your beliefs whether political, religious or moral.
There's an audio clip at the end of the song, again, not planned, but it seemed fitting and it's the one and only clip I could think of that no one could be offended by .. it also happens to be from one of the most famous, stirring, emotional and iconic speeches ever made .. and never more fitting that now.
.. it's a demo, I think it needs a mid section writing for it, perhaps you'll let know.
DREAMS Did you ever have a dream (s) did they come true for you, or are you still chasing them ? This is my first song done in Logic .. it's been a steep learning curve, but as i've been unable to sing for a few weeks, it's given me ample time to play around. Hope you enjoy it.
LULABYE Another song performed with James Moore (Drums) and Brett Field (Bass). It's an up tempo song originally written as an acoustic lulabye for my son 2 years ago .. it's changed a little, but the sentiment remains the same.
WAITING FOR YOU TO CALL Another 6/8 time sig rock song, kinda John Mellencamp style with a hint of Folk.
TRAVELLING MAN A blues / rock song in the same vein as Cry of Freedom / Bad Company / Free.
CELEBUTARD A tribute to all things Z list celebrity.
THE ROVER a classic Led Zeppelin track from Physical Graffiti, done with icomps legend ArtNeuro .. give it a listen !
My best song (in my opinion) .. and winner of the iComps Summer Song Contest 2007.
THE SOUND OF OUR SUMMER It's a mix of reggae/blues and rock, and features my old band mates James Moore on drums and Brett Field on bass, the perfect rhythm section.
Thanks for taking time to read my ramblings,
have a listen to my tunes and PLEASE leave some feedback .. GOOD, BAD OR UGLY... I will not mind as long as you're being honest, ...you couldn't be more honest than my wife is about my music !!
Dave
This is not a rock shredding machine .. there's no wiggly stick for a start .. but here's my baby ...
In a previous blog I wrote about a song promoting wild life conservation, that I had contributed a vocal too .. well Paul has taken it a step further now and produced an amazing video.
I'm just back from having seen Mark Knopfler in concert ... wow, he was jaw droppingly great tonight
What does Paris do ? Why she's Paris of course .. (I don't even have add the Hilton part, you all know who I'm on about) .. and in this crazy world that means she earns millions from being a trashy bimbo millionairess .. What a talent .. seriously, I wish I could do it ! Maybe I'm just jealous ?
Sometime ago I laid down a vocal for a talented guitarist called Paul Oakley (Paul777), who I’d met through recording with Jay (Ignoramus).
The song seems to be gaining a life of it's own and appears as if it may go on to raise some money for Conservation Charities ...
