Fabulous song and performance. I love your laid back easy vocal style, you pull it off with consumate ease .. so great to have a new Wal4u song to listen to .. Funkier gets a lot of listens on my ipod. Hope the kayak and river are treating you well.
Make Up My Mind by gsharp 13 days ago
... Shades of John Mayer, but with abetter vocal than he could muster, could just do with a few tastey Mayer'ish licks from a Strat on there.
Make Up My Mind by gsharp 13 days ago
Ohhh there it is .. the velvet voice I've been missing, so good to hear you singing again Greg.

I'm loving the song, understated elegance .. nice transition from verse to chorus and back, really enjoy the build of the instruments and the use of slide work in the background. Perfect percussion and cracking bass.

Love it, wish I'd written it.

The Dugong Hunt [2012] by pharmakeus 14 days ago
I really like this song, it has a haunting feel to me .. the differences in feel between the 2 distinct sections are fabulous. Guitars are great, and some fabulous bass playing, my only gripe is I want this in a really high quality recording, more bass and bigger drums. Really enjoyed it.

@pete .. Thanks man

@pharmakeus and @Yankman30 .. Thanks guys, Zep and Whitesnake have always been a big part of my musical heritage, I think it really shines through on this one though.

@gsharp .. Greg great to see you come back now and then .. if only you'd leave us some musical scraps to feast upon too smiley
Dejah Thoris, The Queen of Mars (Guitar Pop Mix) by artneuro 1 month ago
Just caught this on youtube .. I think this is a great song, possibly one of your best, unusually very "straight" for you Art(musically), no zappa'esq curve balls, though "love is outside sprouting like mushrooms" is far from being a bland pop lyric. It would be interesting (to me at least) to hear this with a bit less lead guitar on it, cause I think it distracts from what I think is a great vocal.

@ShadowofNine .. thanks very much, as a bit of a blues stomper it's probably pretty close to anything from the Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Bad Co back catalogue, though with a touch of country thrown in for good measure. I hope I can find the time to get some more tunes finished off .. lack of time and the lure of my bed keep me away from my studio at the moment smiley

@RedthruNthru .. thanks, that's very sweet of you to say so. It's an unusual position to write for someone else, though Hannah's voice is quite similar to mine. Once we have Sunday out of the way I will ask her over to record a vocal and introduce you all to her smiley

@JD .. So good to see you're here again too. Once I'd finished it, I was surprised it was only 2m43s long, I considered making it longer, but I felt it was done, nothing much more to say without it being convoluted and a little (more) contrived. The good news is I'm definitely getting back into the music (yah!)

Thank you all for stopping by, listening and commenting, VERY much appreciated.

The Blind King by Neumuzik 1 month ago
Im with KC, there's a good vibe here .. reminds me of a film sound track but I can't place it. The ending sounds like it should be the intro to the next song.
Dirty Valentine by artneuro 1 month ago
I like this .. in your face from the start. Drums and bass drive the song, but the guitar in the verses is inspired.

I'm loving the Artneuro take on "pretty girls" .. can't beleive it needed a University Study to unearth that little gem of knowledge though, I think most blokes could have told them that smiley

@Ignoramus .. Thanks Jay, hope you're still giving the guitars a good workout.

@jkane .. John, you're right, too many yeahs ... I quickly recorded and mixed this to give the demo to Hannah (the singer)without really listening .. it's irritating!

@Neumuzik .. Thanks nice to see another old icomper still here.

KC, Art, Kw8 .. thanks, I appreciate your comments.

@Matt Granz .. thanks, Hannah's a great singer though .. I'll get a version recorded and stick it on icomps .. and thanks for the offer, you never know...

A fabulous track.

Great composititon with some wonderful choices re instrumentation and sounds.

I love Dans guitar playing, precise, imaginative and flowing but not a blizzard of notes, a truely great player, very soulful.

A great blend of light and dark moments on the track.

The only minor point I would make is the snare/rim sounds a little too compressed and flat for the song. Picky I know.

Thanks Art for asking me to do this, it was a real blast to do.

A beautiful song. It's the first time I've heard you sing, you have a great voice, just a little stilted in the delivery of some of the lines, and of course the guitar playing is without equal.
It has all the feel of an Art Garfunkel song, some harmonies sprinkled in here and there would be the icing on the cake. Love it.

Meanwhile at a mid afternoon puppet show in Sydney the immortal words could be heard ... "Artneuro on bass .. he wrote this"

As a person who doesn't really understand jazz and certainly can't play it .. this sounds like Jazz to me, which is the highest compliment I'm qualified to give smiley

I'm impressed with your playing, for me, jazz has always been the music you go on to play when rock and blues becomes just too easy and dull to play.
