| Rich.... I just taught myself in the last couple months. First meditate to sacred music, anything like binaural beats, concert A 432 Hz pieces of music, World music, Frequencies built with 'solfeggio tones' (expanded to 81 Lo shu tones) Long story but if you want to know more details I'll fill you in. The basic idea is certain alternative sounds will stimulate your mind, also dont forget positive affirmations. create your reality. ANYWay, Ive been growing new neuro nets and really trying hard to learn new things, and basically teach yourself. It's taking me a LONG time to get something close to this. There's so many little tricks but if you really like the music I'm sure you'll get it. |

| Rise Above by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| oh I see. cool, yeah I understand now. As for the segments I guess I could put it this way; I have three notes that I want to play in a four beat bar, evenly. I'll try a fourth note... maybe try to balance that way |
|
| Rise Above by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| hee hee, well, actually i have no idea what sidechaining means, really. I just thought maybe you meant have it come in at the same time. I did try that and I think I like it a bit better coming in a bit later sort of an afterthought kick. As for the flute I think I know what you mean about the odd looping. Now I remember when I installed that section. There are about eight segments in that mini measure. Instead of compacting my note pattern, (C, E, G) for example, to fit squarely and evenly, I spread each note out over three segments once, twice, and on the third I only hit the first two notes, then in the next measure it went back to the three, and repeat. I'll go in and look again... |
|
| Rise Above by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Thanks guys I'm working on lowering the flute and maybe having it pan a bit. I'll try the sidechaining you've said, see how that sounds. As for the flute, what I did was edit out the odd note in the pattern. That was it wasn't steady the same way over and over. Just trying to mix it up a bit. Play the confusing card. Trying to cover up a lack of musical experience with technical wizardry. ![]() |

| Unwanted (Reverb/Bass Mix) by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Thanks guys! Blade, do you mean delay on the reverb, as opposed to decay? If it's adding more reverb, let me check it out again.. AS for filtering the vocals. let me see. I used to have a whole bunch of filters. but then i took everything off except a vocal compression with a gentle pre set, some graphic equalizer to clear it up a bit, some 30% echo, and actually the reverb is set to 100%. Also, one thing that i did do that changed things, was i maxed the 'enhanced tuning' bar in the track editor. that sort of gave the vocals a bit of an effect. | |

| Unwanted (Urban Mix) by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Hey, thanks guys, and guess what, I followed that advice of etgilles and noticed that I could increase the reverb of the vocals and better place the vocals instead that way, instead of turning up the volume and making it painful. | |

| Obviously there may be some mixing problems with this one too. How do I get more presence from the vocals, without blasting the speakers? Could be the imac mic and room. No professional pick ups and studio |

| The first melody I hear is the electic piano, that one? or next one, the bass, the 'angelic organ' in the lower octave. that must be the one your talking about! Ok! Well, I'm going to keep it in for now. I've always got to be different and annoying. At least in this early stage of my career. it helps me stand out from the experienced soft handed professionals. Anything to get ahead! JK. I'll post one without that soon. | |
| Unwanted (Urban Mix) by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Hey guys, thanks! etqilles, thanks for the tip, im gonna try that. Blade, which melody? It's early and I am having trouble determining which part you mean. Thanks! Hearing this before I went to bed I think I noticed some instruments beginning to be swamped near the end. I might have to look at it all again. |

| hmmm merging channels..... 80% merge.... maybe not a smart question, but what is a channel again and how do I merge them? Mind you I'm using Garageband, so hopefully I can do that with this. and the stereo separation, not sure I follow you..... Also, what do you mean tbh? Sorry I don't know that much! |
|
| Unwanted (Remix) by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Good point. Do you know how I can do that? There's no panning going on. that sound is somehow built into the loops sample. I wouldn't know where to start to try that. | |
| Unwanted (Remix) by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Ok, point taken, I know it doesn't fit that well. I'll look at changing that or taking it out.... Until I figure out how to make that better. Compression and reverb, ok I'll try that. Stereo phasing, im not sure what you mean by that.. for the drums?? THANKS |

| Good morning! Blade; I'll have to check on the spectrometer. for elimination purposes, your not talking about the visual EQ with that wavy line that you can minipulate, right? C-man; interesting about the mixdown with GB. Presets are good. I'll check out 80'sboy, and vegetal. Thanks for the tips, guys, much appreciated. I'm in learning mode, so critiques and suggestions are very helpful! |

| Crap. Looks like I'm learning something. Looks like I made a difference. I'm serious. I think I just learned how to use graphic EQ. Just running through the whole thing and tried this and that and all of a sudden I think it's balancing. crap. I might need some back up from you all to tell me if I made a difference. I need someone to pinch me and make sure this isn't just a dream. |

| Red; thanks! I'm Definately keeping that in mind and will post a new version with less vocal effects, or better ones, soon Blade; good advice! that helps. gonna try that. as for the midi, its ok, even if you assigned them i might not have them!!! i havn't heard the ones in your piece before. |

| Unwanted by Drastic | 2 years ago |
| Great guys, thanks for the response! Blade; I'm looking for that melody now. I know what you mean. I had a lot of attack problems probably because I changed the instruments. it was hard for me to choose the right ones. Actually, also, when I got your midi, garageband only assigned me pop flute for everything. Either I didn't have your instruments you used, or that's what happens when I import a midi file/s. Mind you I like to change it up, it's just a tall order especially when you managed to pick so many to start and make them balance perfectly for you. I've decided to go back to this, soon, and fix that. Also, everyone please keep up with the critique. I am very interested in support and attempting to balance this better, and make changes if need be. Hip hop; thanks for the tips, im gonna play with that. Darn, I think i need an EQ lesson. I have no skills in that area! As for the bottom and the bass; probably a problem! I don't know how to fix it yet. I notice that with alot of my songs. maybe the bass is too close, and everything else is blended. It's like theres no focus. I've got some bass in there, lots of it, and heavy, but it's also got warbly mods on it, like filters/flangers and phasers. some of the vocals did too. I may just be adding some more work to it and uploading another version in awhile. Maybe not today, but over the next few weeks. |

| Thank you. How could I make it up front more? any advice is perfect for me as I'm still learning. Part of the problem could be that with some many filters/effects on her voice, that the presence is lost. I could remake it without all the effects. Her pure voice would be closer. And thanks, yes, I'm learning so much with GB. I can 'fake' spontaneity by using effects with automatons. Plus lots of trial and error. |

| Nope not abandoned, in fact I'm working on another heavy metal electronica track! | |
| Get-Up! by Drastic | 3 years ago |
| HAHA! Thank you so much, Zef, but that's kind of my point. I would love to give you a steady beat but most of my songs are designed to lead you to the beat, give you a quick experience, and leave you wanting more! I build the songs around a beat and melody, then build it up to the boiling point, but quickly remove the pot from the stove, thus serving you a heavenly meal. Still hungry? ok, I'll go back to the studio. but honestly, I'm still learning about music as I go and maybe perhaps what Im trying to do is use the beat as a listening aid, and not as something I force down the throats of listeners. The beat is implied, and when we listen to the music; we hear the beat even when its not there; a Shared experience between listeners on a deeper level. Ok i'm officially babbling! |

| an Aluminum Lagoon is an 800 degree oven that melts down solid Aluminum and turns it into a liquid, that looks much like lava, although very much more clean and almost mercury like. It also looks very similiar to the popular myths of what Hell would look like ![]() Lake of fire, anyone? Why would anyone want liquid Aluminum? to make wheels of course! I work at a Toyota Wheel production plant. Photos to come! |
