Biography

I started making beats with Garageband about a year and a half ago without any prior musical experience or training. I'll probably eventually spring for Logic when I reach the limits of what I can do with Garageband but with all the Jam Packs, I feel Garageband still has a lot to offer in terms of sounds. I stay away from synths for the most part so I find the arsenal of "real" instruments in Garageband pretty satisfactory. I never use loops, but occasionally I'll take individual drum hits from Garageband drum loops and use them, or (more frequently) take drum hits from commercial hip hop songs, so if a snare sounds familiar, you're probably right. Some of them are more esoteric than others.

My favorite producers are:

Ric Rock for his incredible ability to make wierd atonal melodies sound perfect
Dr. Dre for having the best and crispest drums as well as being responsible for some the sickest melodies to ever grace hip-hop
Timbaland for most eclectic and bouncy rhythms
The Neptunes for having the most variety and unformulaic production

Kanye West's cocky, untalented b**** *** can SUCK IT
