First came Apocalypse: a collection of four schoolfriends with varying degrees of musical ability. We recorded our first demo, Ruins, in our rhythm guitarist's front room by placing a microphone in the middle of the floor.
Then we changed our name to Lethal Exposure, lost a bassist and gained a bassist/singer, and recorded our second demo, also called Ruins. This was in a real live (evil, vile) studio.
A little while later we wrote another song, X. Actually, we wrote loads, but this is the only one I still have a recording of. This marks my last-ever use of guitars so synthetic they make my skin crawl.
Minus one guitarist later, and with a drummer who was busy with his new band at university and didn't have time to produce any drums for our next demo, the bassist and I changed our name to Schizotic and recorded our third demo, Revisited. This was another home recording, and marks my last ever use of microphones for guitars until very recently. Don't ask.
A couple of years passed, and then I decided to revisit Revisited with the wonder of DI. Another name change, this time to LethalX, and another demo. This was supposed to be our swansong, so it's called The End Times (Ruins).
But then we realised that music is fun, so we continued, changing our name again (because if we kept the same name between releases then, like, the universe would collapse) to The End Times. We're now working on a full-length album heavily inspired by Devin Townsend. It should be out sometime this century. (I don't want to say decade; that's a bit optimistic.)
I've also been working on solo projects for years. Various names (Litany, Liquidark, Draconia) and various influences (Paradise Lost, Anathema); but it wasn't until I reached iCompositions that I finally produced some output. My first album, Shadows, is now complete -- see the various songs tagged [Shadows] and the relevant blog post -- and I'm not done yet. Not by a long way...
That said, don't expect art.
Speaking of art, my nickname is nothing to do with Cristian Stan's "Eidolonia" works (http://www.cristianstan.com/works-eidolonia.html), but I wish it were.
I do, however, use the most excellent art of Carol Watson (http://www.lostcanuck.com/). Investigate her site immediately!
