| So I said, I'll treat myself today to an old song by Jolofsson, find a hidden treasure amidst the prolific mass that he has produced. And I have been rewarded. As Danman said, I really like how you let your voice come through without as many effects. It's particularly effective with the lines, 'Don't you see/ I'm just me'--it's you in the purest, most clear form. thoughts: I always like to add a little critique for every song because there are no perfect songs, and iComp is, in part, a community about learning and improving. However, I really have very little to say. On my second listen, I feel as though the song could have perhaps finished on a instrumental note, rather than the somewhat abrupt fadeout that you have in place at the moment. Certainly, this is a really impressive start to using logic. I myself have yet to familiarize myself with it though I have owned it for some time. I'm particularly impressed by the cleanness and distinctness of the instrumentation. No sound is out of place...to elaborate on all the parts that I liked would be impossible...but I'll hit a few key ones: Your entrances were impeccable--from the initial entrance of the drums, and then the full scope synth to replace the somewhat flute-ish beginning--to the transitions into the chorus, and the come-back after the break. Secondly, I absolutely love the percussion. The subtle variations between one measure and the next give the song a complexity that is only noticeable listening the third and fourth times. The minor breaks before an important measure give the song a breath, a pause that lets you fall into the next measure without requiring a full buildup. Thirdly, the choice of synth was impeccable. The way in which it begins to slowly pulsate as the note is held longer, fit in perfectly with the music. Lastly, for some reason, I am particularly fond of the single pulsing synth note that comes in only towards the end after the whispering break. So subtle, so brilliantly full and well placed. It's so hidden in the background, yet so vital in providing the strong forward motion and fullness of sound that creates a buildup towards the end without adding elaborate layers of instruments or fuller drum loops. Another favorite Jolo. Without doubt in my mind you are one of the very best composers on iComp. I really hope that you sign a record label of some sort and begin publishing your music. Yours.., u4ea |

| You know, the waves and guitar match so well. And the bird sounds in the background work very well too. Excellent for some soft gentle breezy enjoyment. However, I liked it much better when it got a little busier, with drums (and bongos!) and two or three guitars. The beginning simply didn't sound tight enough. The mix was just dry and the reverby-ness of the guitar was a bit too distinct with little background sound to cover it up. My critiques are absolutely minor however, and are just little nit-picky things that you should probably just ignore. Really I love how this song makes me feel. I was recently at a riverside restaurant where I could see this kind of song being played. Perfect for a warm day soft dance-like background so you can get on your feet and groove a bit, or you can just chill at the table enjoying the gentle warmth around you. Perfectly suitable for both, and thus a perfect all around song, particularly during these summer months. My compliments.., u4ea |

| Julie by jolofsson | 1 year ago |
| Always a favorite jolo, you manage to astound thoughts: the beginning noise sounds too artificial. I notice you have this tendency, and perhaps it is intentional. The initial entrance sounds too garageband-ish, only when the second pulsating synthesizer harmonizes does it really open up into a true musical feel. Your song save my restless soul was the same in this manner however any criticism i make is really insignificant in the total scope of this song. To be honest, this is a masterpiece. the buildup was breath taking. when you come in with the word Julie at the beginning of the chorus, I was shocked: it was beautiful. But the best was the ending. I was so swept away by the fullness, the richness of it, absolutely stunning...I had to listen again. it was emotionally cleansing, thank you u4ea |

| Mm, very nice, good singing, and always a great song to listen to, some advice for Roland: just don't rate the creativity if its a cover! Anyway, some thoughts: Watch you pitch carefully, though it was very good, sometimes it was a little bit blurred when you were changing pitches. Also, production could use some work, for such a nice voice its a shame to have it sound so raw. Of course, I must say that I always prefer an artists original work over a cover, so hopefully you'll write some of your own stuff now! Either way, you have a rich, lower voice that sounds very good and has great potential. Nice work acein.., u4ea |

| Sea Chanty (Ship and the Sea Revisited) by Baboon | 1 year ago |
| hahahaha....love the intro....check that, love the whole song. This thing is really amazing, I just love the feel to it...such a sea song while just happy and light. Thoughts: Usually I like to critique the song, but there wasn't really much wrong with this. I don't know if the accent was natural or added separately, I thought maybe it could do without....though of course if its natural there's nothing you can do about it.... This is just fantastic, the harmonies are fantastic, and it changes up now and then to give a great variety. I love the random-ish guitar licks that ran up and down. Also, I started laughing out loud at the whistling....how it started like a typical shanty whistle and then just went all over the place...it was fantastic. This is a great song, loved it.., u4ea |

| omg...I love that guitar....wow...in the beginning its so smooth and, then the harmony guitar...amazing Thoughts: When you first start humming, your voice could use a little gate on it, the static makes it kinda stand out. Hmm...just a thought, but I could definitely hear a soft sax in here, I think it'd fit right into place, jazz it up a bit. Overall, this is a fantastic piece. Your vocals are very strong, your voice is deep and rich and blends so well with the song. the harmonies in particular were fantastic...so smooth and well incorporated. I just love the feel of this song...so many different songs, but each instrument is sparse in its own accord, but the blend of them is so rich and full. The piano...the keys...guitar...island drums...very groovy. Great song, loved it.., u4ea |

| really really good stuff....clealy you have some serious experience with music Thoughts: Not a whole lot of criticism I have for this. Normally I try to say something to help people improve their work, but to be honest this is really pretty amazing. Obviously there are minor preferences that I have, but I can't say that those are really critiques. Only thing I didn't like was that synth instrument near the end, not sure what it was. It sounded too artificial amidst all those pure sounding instruments. Overall though, a great peice. Welcome back to icomp! I think you have great potential, keep it up! u4ea |

| Can We Just Be Friends? by Tobz | 1 year ago |
| oh man, with that sultry bass line right at the beginning, I was waiting for some mean sax to come in, or maybe a jazzy trumpet poppin some stuff...no go though I guess haha Thoughts: It was a bit all over the place. The beginning and middle without the piano were both kinda jazzy and lounge-like...but then piano came in which was pop-y. I felt that they didn't really mix so well. Individually both parts were strong, but it was just a bit random and unstructured I thought. I think that this could easily be made into two separate songs, one without the piano, and one with. I really liked the piano part, I found myself starting to sing a little melody to it... the beat behind it was good and the feeling was great but then it transitioned a little too suddenly. Overall I think this has a lot of potential to be made into two great songs, it just needs some work and some structuring.., u4ea |

| Will You? v 2.0 by ciheins | 1 year ago |
| hmmm..not gonna lie I liked it with just the base sort of penetrating through....I don't understand, I still feel like the beat was off though? perhaps that was the objective....from that stand point it was a very interesting piece...perhaps not my favorite but experimental and unusual. I still love the piano blend, especially now with the strings more noticeable since the drums are softer. Very good song though there is something about it that I can't really place that I don't like. Regardless, i didn't like the sudden piano chord at the end, though I guess you just were just getting tired of it...haha. Anyway nice work u4ea |
|
| Will You? by ciheins | 1 year ago |
| mmm...ethereal and dreamy....love the piano especially Thoughts: Drums! mmmm...I didn't like them much for this song in the first place, but I feel like something was terribly off beat. Perhaps that was the aim? But it just made it hard for me to get into the rhythm and really enjoy the song. Also, perhaps percussion is not a bad thing, but the chosen beat was somewhat weak i thought, a little too dry and trite, perhaps some deep timpani or such would have been cool, or maybe some toms with lots of reverb, or some synth beats even regardless though, it has a lot of potential. It is not an exceptional stand out song, but it has a great feel to it that is always enjoyable to listen to. i really love the piano as i said before, but not just the main melody piano part. I also really liked those dark subtle chords that came in here and there. Also the blend of strings and piano was masterful, overall a very nice piece of work u4ea |

| oh damn, love the beginning....lots of ambient percussive sounds without a drum I love the the strokes on the guitar that make nots and lots of clanging...gives it a great feel Thoughts: Lacked any direction or structure....it really didn't feel like it was going anywhere, just kinda all over the place. I think that this would make a great background piece for a high tension movie scene...you know where the good guy is in an exotic place surrounded by mysterious, and somewhat threatening people kinda thing....for that it'd be awesome, but I just don't think it stands alone that well. Overall its a really great concept piece. I absolutely love the feel to it, so wild and exotic, yet still somewhat ominous. I think the fact that it wasn't in tune added a lot to be honest, it gave it less of the professional studio sound and felt more like something you might actually hear walking through the crowded streets of a foreign country. Really cool, I hope you find a couple more old guitars in your attic if this is the result ![]() u4ea |

| Save My Restless Soul by jolofsson | 1 year ago |
| Wow......I hit the favorites button on impulse upon reaching the bridge when you said "save me"...it just took my breath away Thoughts: I really liked the beginning drum beat with the music, however, I didn't like the snare tap sound without any other music. It sounded too....artificial? I know the sound you were feeling, and I don't think that sound does it justice. Also, the trumpet sounded beautiful, but again was too obviously not real. Now if you could get a real trumpet, that'd be amazing. I love how you combined a mixture of pure clean sounds with a blend of synthesizers and artificial noises so seemlessly. Particularly in the vocals. When you said "save me" with no effects after the synthetic vocals, it was so beautiful and shocking and sudden that it just shocked me...in a magnificent way. I can't even describe how much I liked the chorus........ah..........ah.........that first 'ah' is so soft and clear and beautiful, followed by lyrics of inosence and confusion....so pure and sad. Jolofson you blow me away. The song is not perfect by all means, there are minor flaws in balance or vocals that are just barely noticable after listening for a third time; regardless though, this is a masterpiece. It is so well made that even flaws don't detract from its beauty. Also, I'd like to note your use of percussion....brilliant. Completely out of the ordinary, and devoid of cliche beats while still fulfilling this powerful, encompusing feeling that the song provides. Absolutley amazing, this may be one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Regards.., u4ea |

| Mmm, groovy with a dark depth to it that keeps it driving. Very interesting mood this creates Thoughts: Really great, but somewhat repedative without vocals. I think spanish vocals would be awesome, but personally I'd settle for english over this. Definitely needs a good singer though, I'd go for a somewhat lower richer voice if you can. I loved the guitar solo, but I thought that the semi-off-beat break detracted a bit from the pulsing feeling. Overall though, this was magnificent. It held its own for a song without singing even though clearly it was meant for vocals. I loved the guitar solo in particular. Also I thought the blending of the instruments was well done. I liked how I could distinguish between the guitars, the drums and the bass without it sounding like three different pieces. Particularly the bass, clear but not overpowering. Very nice work.., u4ea |

| Takeover (Cruelty 2 Baboons Mix) by RPG | 1 year ago |
| Wow really really cool. I loved the mix of singing and rapping. Also the rapping was unique, certainly not mainstream. Thoughts: The chorus was sung a bit too often. I would have liked to hear a little less of it, and a little more of the rapping. Likewise, the rapping could've been louder a bit. Lastly, I agree with george that the wavering sound wasn't that great. It made it interesting, but as a whole I wasnt a huge fan of it. Also as others have said, it could be slightly faster. However, this was a really great song. The blend of hip hop and ambience (a little rock too) was excellent. I love a mixture of rapping and singing as compared to all rap and beat with little acoustics. Really great job guys...,, u4ea |

| And Your Dream Comes True (Beach Boys Cover) by Matthew1010 | 1 year ago |
| mmmm....beautiful....absolutely loved the harmonies, quite exceptional Thoughts: I would've taken a little less reverb as a whole, although it did give a very beach boys feel to it. Besides that I have very little to criticize. However, it would be nice if you maybe put some of your own stuff on this site rather than all covers. Excellent singing, excellent harmonies, great work u4ea |

| hmmm, yeah, I have to agree with some others, it is perhaps a bit ambiguous. Sounds like to songs split and pieced together. Guitar solo was awesome, piano intriguing, but it could have been blended together far better I thought. To me, it sounded like two amazingly talented artists that could produce something outstanding, but I admit I was actually somewhat dissapointed with the outcome. I would like to hear this song again remixed, with more flow, more overlap between the parts. However, it certainly had its merits, some really beautiful parts which is why I would want to hear it again u4ea |

| Xenogears - Flight (remaster) by Aafarr2 | 1 year ago |
| Dramatic....wow this is fantastic. I could see this played in a large synphonic hall...or as the theme music at the climax of a movie. The percussion is particularly strong and driving. Realy keeps the piece moving and pulsing. Quite inspirational to hear. Thoughts: As a trombone player, I would have brought out the lower register much more. The higher instruments were somewhat overpowering in all. Likewise, the continuation of the theme in the same instruments made it somewhat monotonous. I would have perhaps varied it. Begun with the higher register, then made it go lower and finish it off with a powerful combination of everything. Likewise, it lacked a break of some sort. Though highly inspirational and powerfully built, a somewhat softer break in the middle would have just climaxed the song that much more. Also, it would have provided variation that helps emphasize the individual pieces of the song, adding to its strength and beauty. That said, it was an excellent piece. Quite astounding that you were able to mix this all together by yourself and create this masterpiece. I feel with that by adding some variation, this piece could become a classic work, and perhaps be preformed by a true symphony. Excellent....,, u4ea |

| A true classic singer....fantastic. Your voice is sultry and full. Excellent form.... Thoughts: I really couldn't find much flaw in this...normally I try to find something the artist could improve on, but to be honest, this is really amazing. Perhaps one thing was to alter the background a little more...it was maybe a little monotonous, but even that was really a problem, the blend of flutes and stings and percussion was really good...classical. Also, one minor technical thing would be to add a little bit of gate to the vocal part to help reduce the static sound. In a way though, the static helped give it that real oldies feel. The background music reminded me of the Moody Blues...and your voice fit quite subliminally with it. Overall it was quite an exceptional work. The lyrics were inspirational, original, and derived from quite an interesting experience. Besides that, it was excellently crafted, and your voice is amazing....,, u4ea |

| You have an excellent voice. Beautiful and in tune. Interesting lyrics too, did you come up with those your self? Or is this a cover? Thoughts: This was an excellent solo preformance, but I always think some harmonies would be an exceptional addition. Perhaps sparing, maybe just a second voice here and there, but to add some variety and harmony to the song, a good layering is nice. I noticed that perhaps some of the lower notes were rather shaky, though i guess that comes with practice. Overall an excellent preformance. You have an nice voice with a decent range, and you hit the higher notes very well.....,, u4ea |

| This is amazing....your vocals harmonies are amazing and your voice sounds perfectly blended. Thoughts: I didn't really like the effects on the voice, I have always loved the sound of undisturbed vocal harmonies...I just thought that this should have been done without changing the vocals, or getting a more nattural setting for them. Also, someone mentioned before that some compression would take away the effects of the flanger. Maybe that sound was intentional, but I agree that a bit of compressor would have added. However, thi was an amazing song. Every second of it made me realize just how jealous I was that I couldn't sing like that....really amazingly good preformance....,, u4ea |

| Excellent excellent piece, pulsing driving. Love the feel to it, a real classic country rock song. Your voice is excellent too, it had a really professional feel to it. Thoughts: I would have liked to here more of a guitar solo at some point...but I guess thats just preference. Also, though your voice is excellent, I wasn't always convinced that you were singing the right note? Perhaps I just wasn't listening closely, but sometimes I felt like when you said "ain't livin alone" it was on the wrong note. Now, I won't say that it sounded bad, but perhaps a different note would have sounded better? However, I hope you dont take this as too much cticism. to be honest, this was an amazing piece. I really liked the driving feel it gave, and the guitar in the backing was excellent. Also, your singing and the drums were really nice. Overall, an amazing collab...,, u4ea |

| mmmmm.....never a wrong note. Beautiful as always.....DGO, flawless production. I really like that synth that comes in fairly early that kind of sounds like singing but is distant and very rounded with artificial sound.....creates a very cool mood. Thoughts: I perhaps tend to think that you should leave this the way it is and not add a vocalist. I think that that would detract from the beauty of the song. YOur songs are so rich and full that any sort of singing would serve only to divert the attention of the listener from the subtle wonders of sound that are produced. Besides that, there is really little for me to say....perhaps a really strong baseline would have been cool, but not necessary..... This was, as always flawless, you have the unique talent of making songs that are original yet of your own style, and do not require a singer to be interesting and excellent. Your music has the touch of professionality to it.....beautiful, stunning work as always....,,, u4ea |

| First, I wanna say that this is absolutely fantastic. I really like the beating bass line in particular. The whole song is so well produced as well. Each sound stands out distinctly and adds its own uniqueness to it. Thoughts: I recommend baboon to sing this, I think he has sort of the wild singing voice that would fit with this well, however, Leesa, etgilles, and geechi certainly ain't bad singers to choose from . Although I did initially like the slow buildup, I felt it was perhaps too slow. It felt that when the song was beginning to climax, it just when back again. What I would have liked was for a really solid beat to bring the song to its peak. Not just the pulsing bassline and the other drum (a snare perhaps?). I think this would have added a lot, and also perhaps a single instrument that would solo for a while rather than just the repedative sounds they created. However, without those things, it didn't mean the song was bad in any way. In fact, it was really good. The variety provided by all those synths was excellent, enough to keep me interested throughout the whole song. Also, I agree with those above me, I think your own voice might suit this song well if you don't decide on someone else. u4ea |

| Merry Christmas, Baby by Baboon | 2 years ago |
| Well, I have to say, it doesn't seem like the sickness has affected your voice at all....as always your singing is superior. I particularly liked it when you made your voice so low.... Also, those lyrics are fabulous....crude, rough, tough, and sick. Love the feel of this song. Thoughts: I think that a bit more of a drum beat would have made this more ominous. It really would have added to the pulse. The abstract synths were really cool, but I think that you could have really gotten into it more with a bit more support from some drums. Also, I think that at some point you could have done some harmony singing to add to the drama, make for a bit of a climactic build up. Lastly, I think in the end there, you could've used a ripping guitar solo over the synths...like FE or Ignoramus perhaps. However, this song was absolutely amazing. I can't get over the lyrics and the way you turned such a classic into such a dark, dramatic song. The synths were excellent. The random, yet so precisely placed interjections of noise added to this song so much. It helped create this mood of wild, uncontrollability....almost an insanity. Absolutely fabulous. Oh, and have I said your voice is amazing? u4ea |

| Beautiful, all my respect to the veterans. Very nice and sad song very fitting. The snare drums really added a dark kick to it. Thoughts: I think this song could be deeper and longer. Just the snare adds a real sharp destitute sound, but I think you could add a buildup with some cymbals and particularly a timpani sound (if you have the orchestral jam pack). Also, The low strings were somewhat muffled and dulled the pulse you had going. The pulsing strings needed to be louder and sharper and the steady sounds turned down somewhat. However, this was a fantastic piece. I give bravos for the darkness and mood you were able to create for such a sad, yet resolute day. This is one of my favorite if not most respected holiday of the year and you captured it wonderfully. Thanks...,, u4ea |

| Very cool idea. I really love the vocals (two excellent singers) and the show sounds very cool, wish I could go see it someday. Thoughts: I felt the the fuzzy guitar effect was too much. Not enough notes, too much distortion. It really detracted from the singing, which could have been good, but with a lack of true accoustic instrumentation, they just sounded muffled and distant. Also, I felt the beginning was too long and repedative, and overall there was too little variation in the sound. Just drums, distortion, and wailing singing (which does not mean the singing was bad). Also I have to agree with teaks, the drums and vocals were too soft and the guitar too loud. I hope you do not take offense to this, but I believe that two great artists such as yourselves could do a much better job at this song. I hope you'll take the time to really listen and think about the song and possibly do a remix. I would keep the vocals which are very cool, and even make the base line a little more biting to distinguish it more. I would significantly reduce if not totally eliminate the distortion on the guitar, and I would add another instrument at some point to gain more variation. I hope that you take all my comments in stride. To be honest, you are two of my favorite artists on icomp and perhaps my expectations were a bit unreal. However, I have total faith that you can turn this piece into a true masterpiece....,, u4ea |

| Breathe [collab maybe?] by jolofsson | 2 years ago |
| I remember when you first entered icomp, I can still recall your picture art, a sort of impressionist drawing of a face (yours perhaps?) and I remember being one of the first, if not the first person to comment on your songs. I feel that since then you have become one of my favorite artists on icomp. Your music is subliminal....flawless and impecable. The detail put into your work is that of an artist so profoundly astute. It is sparse and yet filling. The silences are so amazingly musical, its mind boggling. Thoughts: Naturally I like to give some feedback as to what the artist could have done better, but honestly, there is little I can think of to comment on except to minor things that are more or less opinion any way. The first thought is that it would have been cool to at some point here the piano go down into some really low notes to layer over the poignant upper notes. I think that they could really add a driving effect to the song that would help add a little more stucture and develope more of a climax. Also, I do not particularly like the ending. The piano solo with the sparse beat, I feel, would have made a very nice, trancy bridge, however, I felt the song needed to end a with a little more finality. On listening to the song a second time, I thought it might be neat to end the song exactly the same way it began with the violin strike and a camera click--and then silence letting the reverb fade out entirely. I do not think that this song needs a singer. In many repsects I feel that it would be better without a singer. The purity and abstract of sound found in in this song is to smooth and flawlessly resounding for human voice. The only possibility would be, I think, for a women's voice of professional quality (which admittidly, there are several on icomp). However, I think it is best left without singing. Another amazing work johan, keep it up, I'm a fan...,, u4ea |

| She's Your Amphetamine,, by itiswotitis | 2 years ago |
| Wow, the opening grabbed me like none other.....an amazingly strong bass pulse....wow...so powerful....itiswotitis: amazing singing.....the beat was excellently crafted as well, the production of this song is amazing, the synths and beat blend so well together Thoughts: Although the pulsing vocals and distant, echoing singing created a really cool mood and feel, I think that the song lacked a true distinct vocal line. I found it hard to understand the main vocals, and I think that there should have been a main setting with less effects, centralized in the panning. This would give the song a core line from which all the other singing would eminate, likewise it would give more profundity to specific words when the song becomes silent and one sentence is said softly off in the left corner of panning. Secondly, I perhaps would have made the song a bit shorter, not because it was too much, but rather because it felt as though it climaxed several times and kept comming back. I would that it climaxed only once or twice, again, giving it a more profound effect. However, this was overall an astoundingly well-crafted song. The vocals were beautiful as always. I particularlyenjoyed the blend of singing and talking that really helped contrast sounds and ideas. It kept it interesting and lacking in repetition. Most of all, however, I enjoyed the musical backing, OA. Really professional and powerful. The synths are strong and well chosen and enter at precisely the right moment. The drum beat has a electronica feel without being overpowering and detracting from the instruments, something unusual in this type of song. Amazing work, the both of you...,, u4ea |

| Wow, really cool drums...good effects too. The mixing of this is fantastic, excellent production and really neat choice of sound effects. Thoughts: Just a personal taste, I would've put the really low piano part in the center of the piano to give it a really dark central feel, I think it would add to the movement flow. Although the song builds up really well I feel as though it never really goes anywhere. There doesn't appear to be a climax of any sorts, rather a constant flow of up and down which tends to detract slightly from great mix of sounds. I feel that if at some point after the particularly big build ups, you would add perhaps a lead guitar or some stand out instrument (violins perhaps, I also like the sound of orchestral brass for buildups even though it sounds somewhat synthetic) to really bring it to a pulsing, dramtic zenith. However, this song was expertly crafted, the diffferent sounds you had in there was phenomenal, the way you integrated so many unique little chunks of soundwave and blended them together to create this well crafted masterpiece. Fantastic...,, u4ea |

| Mmm...wonderfully textured and smooth, such powerfully constructed sounds. I really like the background synths, and the drum beat is very original and neat sounding. Thoughts: The beginning is perhaps a bit slow, it doesn't really build quickly enough and becomes marginally repepdative. The second synth to enter, I felt was bad choice and was too abrubt of an entrance, not enough to startle you/ keep you on your feet type thing, but enough that it didn't flow well. However, when the original sound came back in with additional parts as well that was really cool, and had a fantastic mix of sounds. The piano likewise was excellently played though I perhaps didn't like the ending, I would've faded with just synths and let go of the beat first. Great work though. Your production skills are absolutely fantastic and the blending was overall amazingly done. Beautifully made, u4ea |

| What I was missing by Mystified | 2 years ago |
| Wow....soft and sweet. As always, your voice is amazingly beautiful and rich. Thought: I would have liked to have heard a bit more just piano...also, it seemed that occasionally the chords didn't flow together as well as the could, making the melody seem a bit strange (though I guess that's what happens in an improv). I wish I could've heard some harmonies somewhere in there as well to make a climax. Though it was beautiful, it was perhaps a bit monotonous towards the end. However, all the things I mentioned above are but tiny flaws that I searched hard to find. Overall this song was amazingly captivating. You really have the material to go professional with your music. As a piano improv, the playing was almost flawless and very beautifully done. Likewise, with a voice like yours overtop, this is worthy of selling. If I were you, I'd find a producer right now...you have it made. u4ea |

| A Sailor's Tale (full musical version) by dalliant | 2 years ago |
| Wow the entrance is really gripping and interesting. The sounds are strong and captivating. Also, your voice is really deep and powerful. Very interesting sounds going on here. Thoughts: I wish you had posted your lyrics so that I might know what your story was, because it sounded really intersting. Also, I found that the sounds in the background were perhaps a bit too much overall. There were too many screeching higher sounds and the low brass cracked from being loud. To a degree, this effect was very good and interesting; however, I feel that perhaps it was somewhat overdone. However, I really liked this song as a whole. The production was fantastic. For such an intense amount of layering of sounds, it was really well balanced aand together. The individual instruments stodd out well from each other, and the percussion laid an excellent base for the song to be really powerful. Great work u4ea |

| Wow, excellent piano playing (assuming that this wasn't actually all loops?). I really enjoyed the simple yet rich feel. On second listening, the beginning is particularly potent. Your rhythm is perfect and steady. Thoughts: Whatever instrument you used to supplement the piano was very synthetic and detracts certainly from the pure and clean sound of the piano. I would advise either the exclusion of that instrument altogether, or the choice of a different instrument that does not sound quite so artificial. Also, for such a wonderful piece, it is far too short! I really liked what you were getting at though. If this actually was all premade loops I advise you work on some of your own stuff. However it sounds as though you have a good musical ear, keep up the good work! u4ea |

| Wishes From The Dark Side by Bondiman | 2 years ago |
| Ah! Wish you were here is one of my favorite songs of all time! I recite the entire lyrics from memory (and Pink Floyd is probably my favorite band). The guitar over synth of the beginning part was just amazing! So perfectly Pink Floyd, in particular some of their later albums after Roger Waters had left. Thoughts: In the beginning part, the very minor background noise of (I assume) the guitar recording became distringuishable in the synth pauses. It would've been good to get rid of that if possible (it was a little distracting). The drum beat used also, is perhaps somewhat overused, it would have helped a lot to have a different drum. Also I think that the sound you were trying to get just can't be conveyed very well using loops. Also, I thought that the guitar of the beginning should have occured once again later overtop the synths towards the end to help climax the song a bit. Though this was really cool, it did lack a bit of structure, there wasn't much of a build; rather, it was more like two somewhat separate songs put together with the first guitar song and the second synth part. Lastly, it could've used some lyrics to it perhaps. However, this had an excellent Floydish feel to it. Something that few people get across very well. I really liked the guitar solo of the beginning in particular. The synths of the second part were also very original and well played. Some really complicated and difficult sounding runs that were pulled off magnificently. Great work you two u4ea |

| Masters Of War by ddw | 2 years ago |
| Very cool! I really like your voice, it is very deep and rich which gives this kind of tune a lot of flavor. It reminded me a tiny bit of Tears for Fears in some places. I also really liked the guitar with its distorted somewhat ominous, unharmonious tone to it. Thoughts: Although I liked how your voice had a nice strong base feel, there was too much base to this song that kind of got slightly distorted overall. The vocals, the base guitar, the base drum...it was a bit overloaded. I'm not familiar with the original song, but this version felt perhaps somewhat slow, though I think that could have been fixed if the drumbeat had been somewhat more active and less sparse. However, this was a well crafted piece overall. For the most part, I thought the production was suberb. The balance was excellent and I really liked the instruments that you used. Very nice song u4ea |

| Haha! I love the storm loops! And the drum loops were well chosen as well. The feel of this song is just awesome....the surf guitar is amazing as always. Oh, and I love the pic you used for the song as well. Thoughts: I think this song could have used a really jazzy organ solo at some point and maybe even a nice bari sax would be really cool. Also, I think the song lacked a break of some sort. I think that having the drums go away and having a softer, quieter middle would add some ominous feel as well as add to the buildup. In general, however, this song was awesome. I just love the effects you use on those guitars, and used so well too! Amazing guitar work as always even iff it isn't the hardest part. My philosophy has always been, why do something hard, if the easy stuff sounds better? Great tune, and I'm glad to see your making more of your own stuff now so that, like surf tradition, maybe somebody will start covering your stuff. keep up the great work!u4ea |

| The Wood Between the Worlds by itiswotitis | 2 years ago |
| Ah! The first book in Narnia! One of my favorites of the seven, and unfortutely quite underread. I remember well the seen you talk about. This song is really original and professional....lots of cool sounds Thoughts: Although this was trancelike, the idea of the wood between the worlds was, in my opinion, a lot more dreamy trance, and less wild trance. It was a sluggish, relaxed, comfortable place, where you tended to lose your memory of your past and anything about yourself in the total captivation of relaxation. In this song I was more under the impression of a sort of confused frantic loss of reality in which everything seems somewhat surreal. Altough this is a very cool idea and was portrayed well, I perhaps think that it was no quite parallel with the story. Concerning the actual music, I found that the drum beat (and vocal loop) was maybe slightly repedative towasrds the end. Similarly, I thought that the song should have perhaps started off more slowly instead of taking off into the beat right away. I would've begun with some soft synths moving slowly and subtly to create some tension before the beat enters. However, this was still an excellent song. The lyrics are interesting and well written even if they don't apply specifically to the novel. Likewise, your voice is piquant and stimulating adding alot to the story. Most of all, however, the production was exceptional, the blend of instrumentation and the exotic drum beat were awesome. An altogether fantastic song..,, u4ea |

| cool cool! I'm afraid, however, that "euphoriatrix" was not actually a part of the iCompilation (hehe) considering he hasn't even been on icomp for two years and his only song is now the iCompilations. An honest mistake I understand.... And the song is absolutley fantastic. I really like this, not because all the stuff blended together sounds the best, but it realy exposes me to new styles and other artists on this site which I likely would never have heard had there been no iCompiliations. great work u4ea |

| GET NAKED by JohnDeeFair | 2 years ago |
| Mmmm....sensual. Not sure there would be any women that could resist a voice like that (though I guess I wouldn't know).... Thoughts: I'm not sure I liked the chorus part. The structure didn't provide a strong enough break from the main. Though it was musically well put together and the lyrics were fine, perhaps the chord structure could be better, maybe slightly more climactic as well. Not sure how I would make it better, but I think it could be a little stronger; one possibility would have been an addition of more instrumental sounds as opposed to drums or vocals. Also, I would have liked a little more instrumentation in general throughout the song. I think this song could really use a nice guitar solo or a true piano part in the backing. However, overall this song was excellent. The vocals were as always, amazing, and I particularly liked the layering of many different voices towards the end of the song, very powerful and moving. The lyrics were inspiring and certainly quite sexual. This song has such a rich feel to it, exotic/erotic. Very well put together u4ea |

| I´d like to thank all the little people I´ve stepped on to get where I am today by jolofsson | 2 years ago |
| Wow!!!!! This is absolutely amazing! The piano was absolutely amazing, and the string layering over top was superb. There were too many good things in this song to describe each every part that I liked. Thoughts: This would have been really cool with real strings, the entrances of the individual notes make them stand out as to synthetic. Also, I felt that perhaps the pulsing strings were a bit strong. On the first drum beat, the bass (I think it was that) drum was distroted, or overly soft and didn't come out well. Not sure what it was. Also, I could here some typani, that'd be really cool. Still, however, this was one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Ingenious and creative. I particularly loved the crafting of your drum beat, original, yet perfectly fitting, so well put together. And, of course, the quotes were perfect as well. Amazing, absolutely phenomenal. u4ea |

| Cool first song. Happy to welcome you to iComp, it's an amazing community. This was well put together and well blended. Thoughts: You'll soon discover that, though loops are fantastic, we want to hear your own work. Everybody can string a bunch of loops together, and almost always make it sound good, and at some point, nearly every one of us has done that. However, as a result, I recognized nearly every loop in your song, which detracts from your oringinality. It is much more heart felt if it is something you created yourself. However, your clearly have a taste for music, and, as you are now on the greatest music site on the web, I hope you will cultivate and expand on your abilities. This was a good mix of loops, and I hope that in the future I'll hear something more from you! u4ea |

| Ghost Ship Traveller Part Two by DrasticDragonfly | 2 years ago |
| I really like the entrance of sounds that comes in as a subtle opener then leads into a synth part which once again fades into a mix of sounds that slowly forms a pulse and a beat and continues to grow stronger throughout the song. Thoughts: Although your sound choice was fantastic, I felt at times that you tried to be perhaps, overoriginal? Some rather stereotypical sounds might have fit better. Also, that synth that to me kept going "wa wa wa wa" was somewhat annoying. Something, perhaps an addition, that I thought of when Baboon mentioned too, was this would be a great song for a floyd guitar solo. I can just here the screamingly powerful, but controlled guitar (I recommend Frozen Entropy) or perhaps a crushingly deap tenor sax. On this note, I liked your beginning buildup the best. Though I realize you were going for a story line, I feel you could have stayed with the beginning sounds which you come back to several times. Ahhh... I can just here the solo...it would be amazing. Of course, this is all personal taste. But I feel it could be amazing. Even a bit of psychotic laughing or chatter would be cool (not to get too floyd-like). However, I still really liked this. The depth of thought you clearly put into this is astounding. each note was carefully placed in this novel you wrote. This song is a book in which each word has been carefully thought out, or a painter with his strokes. Absolutely marvelous. I hope that perhaps you take into accound my suggestions and take the beginning part, and make a buildup with a beautiful solo....it would be perfect. If ever you do consider such a thing, send me a message. This was quite an experience, what a ride.....great work u4ea |

| Testing 1, 2 Testing (better mix; AAC 320kbps) by DigiPal | 2 years ago |
| wow! amazing guitar work, certianly a master preformer, seeing this live would be a rave! the guitars are fantastic, I particularly love the solo somewhere in the middle thoughts: The drums were rough as mentioned, not in the sense that it wasnt a good beat, or that it wasnt well recorded, but rather that it did not sit too well in the mix, it was hidden, background filler, which, in this case was fine, but still a truly intense beat could hit it up even another notch. As for the guitars, really cool, though perhaps too much of the same sound, if you understand my meaning? I would suggest perhaps a keyboard or organ of some sorts; that's just personal taste though. Lastly you stayted on the same notes a tad much (I think it was a mid range semi-trill between an A and B?) which perhaps was slightly monotonous. In no way however, was the song bad. As a rule, I try to find everything that an artist could do better, whether or not it was significant. I found this song profoundly entertaining, and a good contribution to a lack of somewhat harder rock on this site. It is becoming dominated by synths and electronica. This was an excellent piece with superior playing skills. A masterpiece. I hope you take my comments to mind and create more of this excellent material. u4ea |

| Day of Days by Balok | 2 years ago |
| Simple and beautiful, a true classic, I can just see this in preformance, not overly pompous, yet still touching and defined Thoughts: The strings had a bit of a synthetic sound, which I guess, you cant really get over using midi instruments, but I would prescribe real instruments to get a truly beautiful song out of this. Likewise, the balance was off minimally in places, adding to the synthetic sound. This was nothing major, but some minor adjustments would help. Overall though, this was excellent. A truly great piece with a marvelous blend of all octaves. Fine work u4ea |

| Rainy Day Sun by pete | 2 years ago |
| Very cool, it is, in fact a somewhat dark and dreary day here right now. This is a very light-feeling song though. I really liked the drum beat in the background, well constructed to keep the mess of sound together and driving. However, the guitars were too slightly over-distorted, I would've prefered a cleaner sound in general. Personally, to help alleviate some of this, I would suggest panning different guitars to one side or the other, leaving the drum beat in the middle. I find that many great bands with multiple guitars do this to help have an accumulation of sound while still keeping it clean with each sound distinct. I that this could really add a ton to this song. Without it, I tended to get lost in a mix of different distorted sounds that all sort of blended. However, I really liked the idea, the concept was excellent and your playing is magnificent, a truly good guitarist. I liked this one a lot..,, u4ea |

| Isolated Foray by becwil | 2 years ago |
| ahh! excellent! I really love the obeoish instrument, how it faded in and out. LIkewise, as nazeri mentioned, the suspended bass note with the mysterious moving strange sounds above it is really interesting. I think though that perhaps the entrances of some instruments are either too abrupt or ot abrubt enough. I would have them either as a sort of shock note, or else have them enter slowly, almost unnoticably until the listener suddenly realizes the sound without any perception of where it came from. Also, I would perhaps have had a bit more of a climax in which all the sounds come together at once in an incoherent mass, until it fades again to nothing despite this though, it was very moody and strong I really love the idea, I had not heard about that place in Guinea, captivating sensational imagery you portray with the title and the music excellent work u4ea |

| Hmm....very interesting, almost would've called this electronica Lots of interesting sounds, certainly very creative However, I tend to feel the blend was not the greatest. I think there could've been a better choice of instrument configuration...namely between synthesizers and drums. Likewise, the song jumped around a bit with little true flow between the parts. Lastly, I felt that the sng as a whole was somewhat muffled. I really like where you wer going with this though, really very creative, fix up a few things and this could be a great song. u4ea |

| I fell in love with the Symphony Orchestra as well....its amazing, n'est pas? I can certianly see you've put it to good use excellent song, mysterious and ominous even the piccolo certainly has a beautiful sound however, it was a bit monotonous after a while particularly since there were few really moving parts in the piccolo solo besides just quarter notes and eighth notes. Also, the notes tended to be too regular, it stayed too often on the high C which sounded beautiful, but should have been reserved for a somewhat climactic note of sorts. excellent piece though, well crafted, I also enjoyed the soft subtle sounds of the background...entrancing u4ea |
