Requiem for a Dream Cover by JDVLZ 21 days ago
Interesting take on this song.

Have you ever heard "Dead Reckoning" by Clint Mansell? It's the harder version of this song, and you can hear it at the end of the movie "Smokin Aces" or just Youtube it.

Requiem is much more suited for orchestral instruments and dynamics of epic proportions. Dead Reckoning is more your speed.

@Tony2008

Yeah. The ReValver is hardcore in terms of taking up CPU. It's best to close out every program (other than Logic in your case) and make sure nothing is running in the background when using it. It gets even worse if you have multiple tracks with the ReValver on them. You might want to get a faster processor, motherboard, or soundcard. That'll clear up the problem, but until you do any of those, you'll be best off just closing all programs and restarting your computer before using Logic. Small price to pay for the beastly tone IMHO, but I agree it does get pretty damn annoying!
MMXII Klub by Tony2008 3 months ago
I swear by the revalver.

Takes some time to get the tones exactly how you want, but it's by far the best tube amp vst out there.

Forlorn Without You by Fioretti 3 months ago
I agree, Luna, a lot of it was rushed. I do play the keys a lot on my songs, but I always edit them so they're perfectly in time and I'll take out all the sour notes. This time, I felt that I should just leave it in the raw form as it was just some improv thing that I did a while back and never intended on posting it.

This is likely my best piano playing ever, but that really doesn't say much! LOL!

Thanks for listening, and especially for the criticism. smiley

I like!

What guitar are you using? Tone is very niace, and mixed proper. Liking that voice! I heard a crackle here n there, but nothing major.

Love the overall rawness. Acoustic + singing is very powerful, and nothing is more pure. Awesomeness!

I wouldn't say "eager", but I was definitely a little disappointed that I spent my time on this and you didn't post it!

The intro is extremely abrupt and loud. I can't understand a word you're saying, and the vocals are blasting over the music.

Stricken (Cover) - The Remastering by JDVLZ 4 months ago
Try to make the vocals more transparent, and remember to use effects appropriately and seamlessly. You don't want the effects to be obvious. I'm referring to the doubling or chorus or whatever that is. It's waaaay too much, whatever it is.

Overall the vox are just sitting on top and drown out the music again, the notes are wrong, and there's too much of whatever effects you're using.

The goal is to make it sound natural, and it doesn't at all, bud.

Thanks SteveScott!! The synth I used is a patch called "Diamond Sparkle". Pretty sure it was designed to match the synth on this song! LOL. I tweaked it a bit though. As far as the sax? Well, I used something called Liquid Instruments for that.

I did this one quite a while back, Nick. I wasn't very experienced with producing/recording at all, and I didn't have the software that I have now. I've really been wanting to remix this cover for a while now, because I agree 100% with what you're saying: it just doesn't sound right!!

I chose to keep it up to show my progession as a producer. smiley
Zero Signal Cover by ghint 8 months ago
The drums sound too loud in the mix, and a little too synthetic.

It's kind of hard to evaluate the rest of the playing when they drums drown everything out. smiley

The parts I do hear clearly sound good though. Tight playing, good tone.

The Great Fairy Fountain cover by sanny1064 10 months ago
There's timing and mixing issues.

The general idea is cool, but I personally think you should take more time and put it together properly. The drum beat isn't very fitting for what you did on the bass and guitar. It could work together, you would just have to make some adjustments.

Don't be discouraged, I'm not trying to be mean, just offering some constructive criticism! Without it, none of us would get any better.

I just saw that you did this, sorry for not noticing earlier!

The vocals seem to be a bit too upfront, and I hear some pops and booms from the mic. Sounds like you're not using a pop filter?

You should send me your vocal tracks and I can mix it down, I have some pretty cool software. I might need you to re-record a few spots, but I'm sure this can sound really good with a little more work! Appreciate you listening and giving it a go, man, that's good ****.

Sick song, man!

The rhythm guitars are down right beastly. My only complaint is the massive amounts of reverb on the lead. I personally would've liked to hear it more upfront and less processed, but you probably have it that way for a reason.

Either way... good job guys!

edit: I wrote that before I heard the guitar at the end. This needs to be redone entirely. It is horribly out of tune and the tone does not compliment the rest of the track.
