The arrogance of it all

A gutsy move? Nah, just felt like it.

So, as some of you may know, the Fractal Garden project has 3 concurrently running album concepts. But things were just getting muddy. Which song goes in which album, and which album do we complete first, etc. etc. Myself, I was (and still am) just thrilled to be collaborating with so many talented artists, but my cohort John was definitely fixated on figuring out the album. A good team, we are. So, with a bit of inspiration through fermentation, we recently decided that our next album (Pangaea) will be a DOUBLE CD of Fractal Garden goodness with all of our special guest artists.

Yeah, I know the music marketing part of you is saying that's a bad move. Who will buy a double CD from an unknown entity? How long was it before Led Zeppelin came out with Physical Graffiti? And they were of world renown by then. We're a tiny gnat on the thumbnail of some giant musician. The nerve, huh? The thing won't sell, you say!

Well, ultimately, John and I are doing this for ourselves. We both have careers, and we write and perform music to feed our souls, not our families. We just want to be able to hold in our hands a double CD of quality music and art, and know we had something to do with it. If it sells, booyah! That's gravy. If we break even, booyah! If we don't, booyah! We have more for ourselves and for our valued collaborators.

So, recent songs such as One Day... are shared here on iComp and our own web site at , but their ultimate destination is the Pangaea double CD. And at the rate we're going, we'll have all our tracks done by summer.

Have I mentioned this is just too much fun?
