Wow everyone thanks for the awesome feedback, it means a lot. I definitely worked really hard on this one. Eido, I appreciate the recurring listens! I'm glad to hear someone has enjoyed my music as much as I did writing it. I promise a few more tracks to come over the course of the summer. I hope you'll enjoy them as well! smiley Thanks again everyone.

Thanks man for the kind words. I think I showed you some of the riffs during our last jam session so you probably recognized a couple of them. The intro I've had for a long time and absolutely had to put it in there, the progression underneath is what really makes it. Actually the lead that follows is pretty complicated to play at that tempo, because it's partly palm-muted (which is what gives it that tight sound) in the beginning and there's a couple of hammer and pulls in there that really jam up your fingers.

Honestly though, I really don't think the acoustic part sounds all that much like Planet Caravan smiley Really, maybe only cause of the bass, but the acoustic chords are played totally different. I have to defend my stuff as original. The leads played over top I wrote before the acoustic and are actually what I wanted the vocal pattern to be in that part. I had a completely different progression in the demo, but when I placed the leads over top it didn't sound so great, so I tried to revise it, and ended up using just the first 2 chords from the old acoustic part.

The bass was a ***** if you read the descr. I might have to go back and re-record it sometime probably, because you can't really hear what it's doing and you probably should because it progresses underneath the verse.

Thanks again though man,

It feels good to hear a finished product like this one.

I absolutely love the intro the most. It's in the vein of what I've been into lately and it's refreshing smiley. Great arrangement on everything and the production sounds pretty damn good.

If you're looking for a little constructive criticism, I think towards the end, it sounds slightly (and I mean just slightly) over-compressed. smiley It doesn't really obstruct the melody at all, but you can hear the levels somewhat topping out and the sound breaking, but that's the ONLY thing I really heard from a mixing perspective.

I also like the rhythm at the end with the solo, which I was wondering if you ever wanted to mess around, I could contribute somewhat of a solo to the end of this as well. Message me elsewhere (you know where smiley) if you think that you wanna go on that! I'd love to try to lay something down.

Otherwise great work!!! I think you merged metal and rap perfectly without bringing attention to that whole nu-metal atrocity that occurred in the late 90s smiley Let's just forget about that whole scene and hail the new era of Rap/Metal fusion. m/

Thanks a ton guys! Appreciate the listen.

Eido, I've been wondering where you've been, smiley. Thanks for the listen really. Honestly with all my mastering problems and that whole situation, without your insight on the levels and mixing, I'd have never been able to produce something like that. So thank you. Now that I listen to it on here and with normal speakers, the bass may actually be a bit to up front in the overall mix. smiley I may have to knock that back some, because, even though I spent so much time trying to arrange the bassline and record it, I want to accentuate the guitar line and the harmony.

Speaking of which, the riff underneath the second solo is my favorite of the entire song and I really want it to stick out more, so I think when I get time to remaster the song again, I'll end the solo early and when vocals get added, they will be the ending sequence into the post-solo riff, rather than the run I have. Not positive on that yet, but I love that riff and want it to be heard more than that solo smiley

Yeah that's a huge problem for me, mastering and mixing and leveling everything, I just cannot stand it!! I originally used speakers to mix the song, and now that I listen with headphones to it, all the levels seems slightly out of place, especially over the fast solo, so I'll definitely raise that slightly. Thanks for all the great comments guys!

Hell yeah Zack! That harmonized part at the end of the solo was literally a last minute addition, I rendered the project about 4 times and felt something should go there, and since the main riff is harmonized, the palm-muted solo rhythm is harmonized, even the riff underneath the solo is harmonized, I figured, hell, why not add some more! smiley.

Drums are getting extremely better, which surprises me because putting it all together I feel like it sounds terrible, but this one turned out well, I think the Re-verb VST I used added to it.

Aside from the obvious Maiden influence, Mercyful Fate was the inspiration for the harmonized Intro/Chorus and Sweet Savage definitely for the verse and post-solo riff.

Yeah me too, Can't sing, won't sing. smiley. Someday I'll find someone with some good clean vocals for this and "Ragnarok," but this will have to do for now. smiley
Wine by Heartland 3 years ago
Yeah man, truly. Appreciate the comments everyone. I'd say the biggest influence for that main guitar part Zack was The Mission (UK), they do alot of that style. I'd recommend listening to "Deliverance" or "Blood Brother" on Youtube to really see how I got that influence on here. Actually that intro lick was kinda tough to play! It doesn't sound like it, because it's slightly pushed back but the note that I pull-off and hammer on switches contstantly. It was somewhat complicated to arrange, and it's played on the Acoustic so makes it even harder at times.

Check those songs out Zack! and thanks again to everyone!
The Ballad Of Budd Dwyer by Heartland 3 years ago
Thanks everyone for the comments! This was pretty tough to write considering the fact when trying to add parts I continuously had to re-listen to the audio, which wore on me quickly and helped contribute to the overall atmosphere of the song.

I may change the electric solo, do you think I should, or shall I leave it as it is? Thanks again everyone!
The Ballad Of Budd Dwyer by Heartland 3 years ago
Yeah no kidding. I wasn't born yet, but you heard so much about it living in Pennsylvania you had to watch it. Thanks for commenting too you made me realize a very important error in the title, haha. Thanks for the listen.

Real feedback time. smiley This is how the whole Nu-Metal thing should have gone off. As much as I'm a fan of most Nu-Metal bands, this is truly a Rap-Metal song, full-on. I love the chorus. Maybe because It's a bad*** riff and I'm a huge fan of those vocals.

You have a really great voice for rapping man, not gonna lie. When we used to hang out, I don't ever remember hearing you rap all that much, so it's a treat to hear something so refreshing. I can't believe how awesomely clear all the vocals are too. That's something I can never get, I have to put drive up on vocals and then they get distorted and all that B.S. So Well done there.

Overall I think this is a great introduction to the Master Farsheed project and I'm sure we all look forward to more tracks in the future, well done bro.
Ragnarök by Heartland 3 years ago
As always, thanks a ton Zack. I worked really hard on every aspect of this song. I always wanted to write a song like this, and I just would tend to fall into little phases here and there for say, acoustic covers, and other things. But finally, I organized all my riffs together and placed them respectively. The leads were what took me the most time on this one. I went to town on that whammy bar for pretty much everything outside the intro. I love it when bands have one guitar play a melody and have the rhythm progress underneath it. Much like the end of "Innocent Exile" from Iron Maiden, or "The War Drags Ever On" by Tank.

I would love for sometime to check out the vocals. I just know I cannot pull it off, this song requires someone with serious pipes and clean sounds. Something I don't have. So we can give that a go eventually. Thanks again bud.
Ragnarök by Heartland 3 years ago
I honestly agree with you. I am absolutely dreadful at singing, and would eliminate any sense of "achievement" from the song. So maybe one day someone could add some killer clean vocals, because I purposely left the verses in there for lyrics. I appreciate the comments, thanks for the listen!
Easy (Commodores Cover) by Heartland 3 years ago
Yeah Faith No More does cover it. That's basically what this one is based off of, but I like to think I kinda made it my own. The guitar solo I played is actually in the song itself, even the original so I didn't really change too much for that. I didn't feel like adding my own solo, other than the pinch in there. I also added the chorus effect, (of course!) and more distortion, but other than that, that's the same solo pretty much.

Yeah the ending is a little strange, but most my songs either fade out or end slowly and this one ends with piano playing that little fill so I had to do something to make it sound decent. I dunno if you mean that part or just the complete end of the song, but either way it's something IS odd about it.

I appreciate the listen tho man. I always look for your feedback on my stuff and was kind of missing it there. smiley!

Thanks for the awesome comments Eido. It took a while to get where I'm at so to hear compliments like that make it all worth while.

Glad to see it up man. I bet I'm the first to hear it, but it certainly does not bother me in the least to hear again and again and again. As stated before, I absolutely love these types of tracks and the sound you got out of the acoustic is perfect.

It's typically cliche to give people 5 out of 5 stars for everything and ramble on about how wonderful and fantastic the recording is, but I have to say man, that cliche applies to this track. I know how hard you worked on this and it definitely shows in the track. So in all honestly, I think this may be the most professionally produced and recorded song you've done.

Glad to see that everything turned out the way you'd like it to because it certainly turned out the way everyone should hear it, and that's simply outstanding.

Great work, looking forward to more tracks like this and more songs to come. P.S. thanks for the plug. smiley!

Dude I love this track! Haha awesome. I love the heavy choruses. Can't really say much more. You and Aara certainly do a great job here. The ending has to be my favorite when it goes from Rap to Metal for the solo and back to the chorus. Great job guys

Loved it. All I can say is you should be proud of what you've done with it. I wish I had your patience for mixing and mastering because I would love to create something like this! It's a great metal track and is VERY early 80's with a modern Power Metal twist. It reminds me of something you'd hear on the old Metal Massacre albums or even some of the LA Metal albums released.

The vocals sound really f'n good man. I love that Lizzy Borden-esque style that is being played here. I commend everything in this track. It's awesome to here a song that has lived up to the potential of its creator. I say that with all honesty too. It's great.
Goin' Home by Heartland 3 years ago
Yeah I usually tend to do that, but Audacity either moves the track slightly behind where I actually recorded it or I just f'ed up the performance...makes me so mad!!
The Prince (Acoustic) [Diamond Head Cover] by Heartland 3 years ago
Thanks for the nice comments everyone! Appreciate them as I did put my heart and soul into this performance! I'm using a Takamine EG340SC Acoustic/Electric for that particular performance, the electric is my Fender '78 Mustang, basic with ONE pick up and it just never fails me...haha. Thanks again man!

As you know I'm a sucker for acoustic covers of songs that seem impossible to do a cover and I believe I told you before, I love this performance. It's incredibly creative with the harmony on the vocals. Voice sounds really good. I wish I could pull that off. Again, great work and look forward to more acoustic covers.

Christ man. I never saw these on your list!?! What the hell, how do you do it? I have to say, I'm extremely proud of what you have done and am equally jealous of that writing capability and that playing ability...Great work. Very Maiden-esque, but it's also very Accept-esque!! Which I find to be so much beyond bad***...Keep up the great work and again, I'm jealous!!

My metal brother, I love this track!! Really great man! Insane work on the those solos and that playing is outrageousness!! I love the feel of this track so much, so much what I've tried to capture on some of mine. I wish I could get that timing as perfect as you have. Loved it man. Wish we could still play together, we could of written some killer stuff.

Awesome.
When Sin Reaches Maturity by Heartland 3 years ago
Yeah as you know I'm not the best with recording and mixing, I just like writing the material and all. I tend to run out of patience when it comes to that stuff and I hate it cause I ALWAYS here those mistakes and all. Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it.

Wow man, you have alot of great tips on recording errors that I have dealing with so much! Thanks for checking them both out and helping out, I really appreciate all the compliments on the playing!
