| The only way I can upload is at the local library from a cd that I have burned, otherwise I have no internet these days....anyway I listened to the original tracks back on the mac laptop and did notice some glitchy bits on a couple of tracks, gonna try and fix and probably re-post in a day or two....also equipment challanged these days, no m-audio firwire, no preamps, in fact the bass is my strat guitar through the garage band vocal transformer! (I typically play my own bass parts on an old Fender Precision)Thanks to the listeners regardless.... | |

I was a big prog rock guy for a while and listened to Chis Squire.... the bass player for YES I saw Brand X, Phil's Fusion Band once,,,,,,,,,Hey do you remember Gentlle Giant? |

| Sometimes the Mighty will Fall by HooDooBlues | 5 years ago |
| Yeah it's the 'E minor' to 'A6th'. That's the sound of that Pink Floyd song. And it is the major part of Stevie's song 'Riviera Paradise'. I initially got the idea from listening to Johnny Winter's "Stranger" which is E Minor to A, but the 6th chord makes it more funky and jazzy. Here's a hint for you guitar types, there is a major 7th chord that is a direct replacement for a minor chord. For instance play a 'D' minor then move to an 'F major 7th' they will replace one another as often as you want. The beauty is sometimes you can play in D or you could play major scales in F! |

I'm trying to put a band together...tough work........otherwise paying down the morgage and raisin' my 13 year old daughter and dealing with the struggles of life and wife ya know? Yeah blues, that's all I generally listen too, although sometimes I fall into some 70's Deep Purple or Pink Floyd, Edgar Winter and the White Trash were a good band but more often than not you'll find me either playing or listening blues .....AJ |

| Sometimes the Mighty will Fall by HooDooBlues | 5 years ago |
| I debated long and hard about vocals. I came up with a few and asked my sister as well.. The more I listened to the song, I felt like, at least for me, that the verses were for introspection, if you know what I mean. For you to decide who meant something to you. sort of....anyway I'm not a poet. But it is for, but not limited to First my friends: David Poynton Bill Minifie Steve Burke Kenny and Bobby Rasmussen Then my influences: Little Walter Jimi Hendrix Duanne Allman Roy Buchanan Rory Gallagher Muddy Waters Albert King Albert Collins Richard Hughes Randy Jo Hobbs Stevie Ray Vaughn Alan Woody |

![]() True to the art with in...yeah that's the tough part alright...workin' for the man and payin' down morgage....that aside excellent bass line, good in tune vocals and intense too. Crying for a big epic guitar solo, but then again I most always think in guitar terms |

![]() Pretty Funky...and haunting too.....wasn't totally into the guitar sound though the licks where good, the horn bit over the funk groove is very cool...abrupt ending... |

![]() I don't know about the drums. The Gal sounds nice. I like it generally. You have the little guitar harmony happening. It's the snare fills. Is it a sampler playing a midi file? Alter the velocity levels on some of the hits for a smoother sound. It's loud, so you got that goin' on Did you know it's actually an Isley Brother's song....Regards HooDooBlues |

| Well I'm smiling at you smiling...there you go! I've been goofing with a little Hendrixy groove, so it's really not complete but I figured what the hey, it sounded rockin' to me and I have a total blast crankin' amplitube and blowing my ear drums out. I played through a Micro Vibe pedal that's a sort of a Univibe clone. Jimi used a Univibe quite often. I just wish when I plugged in I would have put the wah in line....Really I was just jammin' to get a feel for where I wanted to go with this deal.........anyway thanks all.... |

![]() Just need to trim off some of the lead in time i.e. the silence at the begining. I listened to the other version, I'll have to listen to it again, that was a week or so ago. Yeah nice job. Does the original have sax as the sort of melody that SRV and everybody plays octaves on? I haven't heard the Kenny Burrell version in years. Nice smooth tone yer gettin' there. Jeez now I want to cover it...as always nice job Blues69.... |

| Yeah that's right a '72 Fender P Bass through Amplitube, for my part, I believe Anders uses a device called Guitar Rig, correct me if I'm wrong Anders but I believe it is part hardware and part software, and I know he uses a PRS guitar. I thought it was pretty sharp, liked being able to play bass and not worry about licks and guitar tone....thanks Anders...we'll work on something else soon I hope. Unfortunate for me I have a new gig wher I travel all the time and have no guitar on the road, so I just goof with some loops etc, setting stuff up for when I get home...thanks for all the comments...much appreciated and heart felt |

| She Caught the K.T. by HooDooBlues | 5 years ago |
| Yeah Bob6Stringer...double duty amps...we all had nice amps back then, I had an Ampeg SVT bass amp, the guitar player, Dave, had a Twin, Brother Dave had a double kit of natural cherry Gretch ( I still have actually) but no PA...our bane.......Ricky was or is, a great harp player, I met through a guy named Kenny Neal, who I also played bass with for awhile, Ricky was from Oakland and we were in this little town outside of Toronto...anyway Kenny made a name for himself, you could google him....he's from a famous blues family from Baton Rouge....I first saw him before I met him playing bass at a Buddy Guy gig. I later met Buddy through Kenny. Kenny introduced me to Albert Collins and Junior Wells too... | |
| Jeff's Boogie (better version) by anders007 | 5 years ago |
![]() Definitely get the great sound! I love the Guitar Rig you have, Like I told you before you really get a SRV sound from a non SRV guitar, but then again you really get a Gary Moore thing going too! Oh Yeah! Two string bends and every thing. Ummm...let me know when you need a crash and burn ending...I have some ending drums....Fades are appropriate some times but this needs a done deal......... |

![]() Really good....Really well done and sung, real swingin'! I met Sonny at a recording studio in Toronto in...hmmm I think '92 he was brought to the studio by Corky Lang, who was the A&R guy for, I think it was Polygram, to play on a session I was an assistant engineer at. Anyway again super nice ..... |

| D 'n A (Black 'n White Stripes) by HooDooBlues | 5 years ago |
| Yeah, every thing I did back then had a Johnny vibe...Definitely the drums were influenced by (also the late) Richard Hughes, Johnny's drummer back in those days, that guy had a great power shuffle and that's where my brother got his great power shuffle......Bony's in for a re-tool. | |
| D 'n A (Black 'n White Stripes) by HooDooBlues | 5 years ago |
| Funny, getting 5 stars on production....I'm not really looking for ratings. I just wanted people to hear where I came from, it's a nostalgia trip for me. This recording is 26 years old! Last year marked the 23rd anniversary of my younger Brother's death, he's been gone as long as he lived. This year he'll have been gone longer. He was a monster drummer. Unfortunately there was no quick and easy recording situations back then, I mean cassette 4 tracks weren't even out yet. They came out shortly after but cost $1500.00..and we were poor musicians....thanks for listening though!Maybe I'll put up some more stuff if I get some intrest in it..... |

| Slide by Night II by HooDooBlues | 6 years ago |
| So this here thing was an acoustic number with a drum line, Dallas (the guy above Pete) put those tracks together. Dallas is a friend of mine. I added the rest of the instrumentation and had a brain storm...I had a sample of that blues guy talking, I only have him doing the one line, and I thought it might sound cool to throw it on to the intro as the acoustic slide comes in. Who it is? I don't know. Wish I did. BTW any other blues singers out there? Let me know.... | |
