| When Pedro asked me to play on this track, the only possible answer was "Of course!" There is a gorgeous trumpet solo (by Mel Davis) on the Billie Holiday recording, from her album "Lady In Satin," and Chet Baker also recorded it at least three times. So, in my mind, this song has a long tradition as a trumpeter's ballad. It was, therefore, an honor and privelege for me to be a part of this project. Pedro made an absolutely superb arrangement, and Mary also sings marvelously. Thanks to Pedro for the invitation to participate in this project. Thanks, as well, to all of you who have commented so far. I hope many more people get to hear enjoy this wonderful music. |

What I love about this piece/performance, is that it sounds like nothing else I've heard in this genre. Very soothing and meditative. I do detect a slight Indian flavor, due to your penchant for ornaments, the solo violin, and the improvisatory nature of the entire piece. Also, I think I heard some tabla in there. Yes? I wish I could play the piano as well as you! |
