Fun song, and a very intimate recording. I especially like the brass-y MIDI lead part in the beginning, and the arrangement of the multi-layered vocals in the end. Great job!

more sad songs for first life. f****** awesome though

fantastic harmonies. cool breakdown and ending, as always. love the piano part although the instrument could use some EQ perhaps, esp cutting out some high end. my favorite part, obviously, is the chord progression at 0:35...

what is it--- like B minor 7 with a major 7th also, Eb min/Bb, Eb min, Gb maj??!!! so like {Bb:} bII, {Eb:} i/V, i, III ??! i'm probably way off but whatever it is it's f****** crazy

absolutely cataclysmic.

Newton's Laws by KeithPetrower 1 year ago
Unreasoning,

When Newton was alive, his laws of physics were better than the rest, and that is the point of view taken in this song. You're right in your point that Einstein corrected Newtonian principles in many regards. If you're interested, check out Relativity Theory or Quantum Mechanics for more information.

I think your ratings got pushed over because you typed so much text in your comment box. I appreciate the detailed thoughts, and thanks for listening!

Best,
Keith

Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis cover) take 2 by KeithPetrower 1 year ago
I kind of agree with you Henno. I thought they sounded more punk in this version. But my professor told me to "try to tie it back to elvis by treating your vocal in a similar style that elvis would have used on a faster number. Try a slap echo on the voice (a delay with no feedback at about 125ms) with just a taste of a medium plate at about 1.5s. You can listen to heartbreak hotel to hear that type of effect..."

Sounds great. A wide, interesting mix that shows off a lot of stellar arrangement work on the engineer's part! Even better, it really DOES have a very prehistoric feel to it! I could totally see this being used as the soundtrack for a film about ancient homo sapiens in Ethiopia.

hahah so bizarre and brilliantly creative. the monologue at the end is fascinating. knowing your MIDI method makes this piece all the more enjoyable. i have a theory about what band the song's title might be an homage too, as well.

Futz, I can't believe you made this on PT. It sounds phenomenal. Some of the best, most realistic MIDI stuff I've come across on iComp. You clearly know how to get the most out of your equipment. I'm loving it and looking forward to hearing more. And after hearing this, I might have to spurn my professor's advice and start experimenting with MIDI on ProTools myself!

LOL great collab. Songs like this on iComp redefine the word "creativity." I'd comment more but this song reminded me I have to go home right away to destroy MY violin.

Temper, Temper (demo) by KeithPetrower 1 year ago
TEMPER, TEMPER

Brushing up on my reminiscence
Looking back, only reds of crimson

Lights are turning dim
Since when did you
Brush up on your dirty dirty knees

I won't make an objection
Instead I offer these

Songs of my affection
A valentine collection
The closest to perfection
I could ever aspire
I admire you...

My first love song for you
It isn't much, but it is true
When you look, you look through
When you take, won't you take a clue

On the subject of your creation
I am used to your adoration
But I won't make an objection
Instead I offer these

Songs of my affection
A valentine collection
The closest to perfection
I could ever aspire
I admire you...

When you sleep
When you bleed
When you need me
More than you ever can afford to breathe
To breathe...
Minneapolis (demo) by KeithPetrower 1 year ago
MINNEAPOLIS

Needle points to the E
Need more gasomoline
I'm a well-oiled machine
If ya know what I mean

Into your arms
Into our scars
Into the stars
Anywhere you wanna be

It's over his head
It's under her bed
Until you know
Until you tell me where you wanna go

You don't have to believe
You don't have to like me
I've got a fake ID
I'm Michael Angelo Lee

Still running on empty
But I still got it in me
I'm hooked on the vaccine
Patient eternally

Open your arms
Enter our scars
Into the stars
Anywhere you wanna be

Under my head
Over your bed
Until you know
Until you tell me where you wanna go

I ****ed it up
Again
Mmhmm yea
That'll do

Come back to Minneapolis
I mean to me

Thanks for sharing, Jeff. Always enjoy hearing your new tunes. I can definitely hear the David Gray, but I don't think your voice sounds like his. I think your singing style is a lot like Michael Stipe in this recording (which really works!) The hook is very catchy, and uses some unusual and interesting harmonies. Right up my alley. Nice start and I'm looking forward to hearing the final version.
