I'm just dabbling really...

Dabbling in trance, ambient, dance and soundtracks. I don't really think about "songs", so there's rarely any lyrical type structure in my work. I usually work from an idea, an image, emotion or place, so you will often find a little story with my pieces.

I started out by using 'music 1999' followed by 'music 2000' by Jester Interactive on my PSone and recording the results rather awkwardly onto my then shiny new iMac using RCA plugs and a mic in-jack.

Oh and a 30 metre power chord so I could carry the PSOne to the computer.

For a long time, I did no composing, and moved into 3D rendering, digital photography and film making.

I will be uploading a few of my early efforts so you can hear some old home made stuff, just for curiousity value. The software was cheap, contained a good selection of loops and instruments and the capacity to allow you to write your own riffs too. Best of all the loops were royalty free. The manufacturers modestly asked users to register and acknowledge the use of their software as their only recompense for some very good software (for its time) I'm pleased to see the same great features in Garageband, including an easy to use graphic interface.

Early musical influences: Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Human League, Kraftwerk, 80s punk. B-52s, Sparks, and so many more... its really hard to choose because there are so many talented composers and I like a lot of different styles. What I like in music: unusual and hypnotic rhythms, an ability to evoke a mood, time or place and unusual samples used in creative ways.

I have no musical training, I can't read music, I have no ambition to be a great artist, but I still like to dabble, and with Garageband, I can dabble to my heart's content... I hope you like my experiments.

Unfortunately I've been a victim of the persistent lower RAM slot failure that Apple refuse to acknowledge or fix (my second logic board failed after only 10 months) I ordered a new machine from Apple but TNT lost it. So... I wont be uploading any music for a while.
