Biography

Howdy y'all!

(I'm being optimistic that at least one person besides kassia might stumble upon my page...)

I love music and have enjoyed singing for as long as I can remember, but I grew up in a really rural area and didn't have much access to music teachers, theory, etc. My mom is a talented musician and did the best she could with me when I was young. We sang together all the time, in the car, around the house, and at little local events like weddings.

In high school, I started singing in choirs and got a little better with some self-taught theory, and started trying to teach myself how to play acoustic guitar. I also got the chance to perform on stage with an ad hoc bluegrass band at a local bluegrass festival when I was in high school. A community choir and a stint with the University Singers and a voice class while I in college, and that pretty much sums up any and all "training" I've ever had.

Choirs are fun, but I prefer singing American and celtic folk, bluegrass, country, rock, and maybe a little blues now and then.

My guitar skills have (sadly) remained pretty much at the same level since I was a teenager. I know only enough to give myself some basic accompaniment to sing to. My most likely venues are campfires and living rooms.

Did I mention that I don't write my own music...yet?

That's kinda why I'm here. My partner, Shay (kassia), has the real musical chops in the family, and I'm thrilled that we have found this community where both of us can throw some stuff against the wall and see what sticks.

I'll probably throw up one or two of my favorite covers, but someday soon, you'll start seeing some of my own tunes.
