I wish I had a band--that would be sweet. I had a band for that CD, but they left to join more popular bands. It's just me and the pitch correction software now.

My favorite part is where the woman and undead are running in a circle, the undead pauses to catch his breath, then begins running in a circle again.

Do You Remember? A TRIBUTE TO BOBBY KENNEDY AND MARTIN LUTHER KING by SoulSurvivor
1 year ago |
I've always thought that was a moving speech of Kennedy's, quite eloquent and remarkable, considering that he delivered it off-the-cuff. But setting it to music didn't add any meaning for me. In fact, when I heard the first sad words and recognized what I was hearing, set against a more-or-less arbitrary backing track, I felt kind of sick. I guess the argument could be made that you're drawing attention to an old speech that people might otherwise overlook, but typically the reverse is true: most people quote and sample from others to draw attention to themselves, to associate themselves with ideas that they're incapable of generating from scratch. I guess what I'm looking for is something that conveys the substance of what he's saying here without borrowing his words. 'Borrowing' being a euphemism.

Didier, thanks for the heads up. Typical: I use a fancy term to display my erudition and get it wrong.
