Male Stripper (Man 2 Man cover) by robby_reverb 7 months ago
FYI I happen to love gay songs! hehe Actually, my current karaoke bar is our local gay bar, I love it there. The night I sent you this request I was listening to the original and realized how much you and the original vocalist sound alike and was like "hmmm... I wonder..." This was absolutely freakin awesome Rob! I have had a week from hell with the new job and this is just what I needed smiley HUGE HUGSSSSSS!! (oh and lawl about your voice changing techniques... you gotta love what toys can do nowadays smiley)
Mad World (Gary Jules version) by RadioSeanovan 7 months ago
I noticed this on the front page and had to have a listen (cause I love this song too... and do prefer the latter as well... though I don't prefer softer music, I just find this one more eerie and I've watched Donnie Darko countless times smiley) This was a seriously awesome listen... your vocals are absolutely perfect. Loved this!
STUCK by Barretok 2 years ago
This was really lovely, I love that acoustic guitar and the bongos ... and the vocals, as always were amazing. I love your style man. Sorry I've not been around, going through life "doo-doo"... hoping to get some new stuff done soon.

Okay, one word.... DAYUM! Guys... this is friggin amazing... THISSS is why I fell in love with hip-hop, tight rhymes, killer beats all wrapped up in a little kick@$$ package that knocks you out ya chair. LOVED this, in case you couldn't tell.
The Betrayer by RAVENS 2 years ago
I love the way this is layered... and yea if someone didn't use headphones they'd lose a lot of the dimension. Obviously the vocals are amazing... can I say something kind of blunt? I am glad to hear you singing in YOUR voice. Getting away from covers allows you to do that a lot more, doesn't it?

I think this is the fave I've heard of your stuff.

Hugs,
Lisa

I really really like this! I am getting a sort of Mad Child vibe off your vocals (your tone anyway). Both the beat and the rhymes were tight... really liked this, gonna nab a copy for my music collection smiley

Release Me by Naaji 2 years ago
I really really dig the beat on this! I am with Raven, it takes me forever to create too... sometimes going back to just the lyrics over and over... plus being a mom of a 13 and 15 year old makes it hard to find time to play around with music sometimes. Cool that you can pump them out so fast! This was a great track, really enjoyed my listen smiley

Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd cover) by PinkFreud 2 years ago
I love that you've made this your own. This remains one of my favorite Floyd songs and I love that you've changed things about it to make it more personal... the production on the vocals is just dreamy... I loved this smiley

Lisa
Sign of the Times by Litherman 2 years ago
This is wicked man... I love the vocals and I really love the lyrics- and the beat was tight. I always thought rap was a great way to express views of society, it's a way to squeeze a lot of thoughts into a song compared to singing. Really enjoyed this, looking forward to hearing the final mix cause this on its own had me listening all the way through. Cool beans.

Closer {NIN Cover} by RAVENS 2 years ago
Well, I am a huge NIN fan too... in fact I blame them for making my taste in music even more 'out there' than it was already smiley This was wicked Dani, I think it's awesome that you've reworked the song... cause every cover I've heard of it was pretty closely arranged to the original. Love the layered vocals too... Trent would be impressed methinks smiley

Cruel Hearted (A Disco Song!) by Naaji 2 years ago
The bassline actually reminds me a little of Filthy Gorgeous by the Scissor Sisters, which is a GOOD thing. I saw them live a couple years ago, they kicked butt.

Really love the simplicity of this, the way you've made it more about bass than leads, it leaves lots of room for your vocals to shine through... and as always they are gorgeous! smiley

I looooove Joy Division too... I suspected you may have this one tucked amongst your list smiley I love the synths on this and how you've stayed somewhat true to the original but still done your own thing. Really enjoyed this!

Damhnait Doyle has a semi-acoustic version of this one I absolutely love... I've been trying to convince my son to learn the guitar and help me out with it haha.
Cars - Gary Numan Cover Version by GaryHunter 3 years ago
Gary strikes me as the type of character to want to hear other people's interpretations of his music so I'm not shocked he gave you permission. When I saw Gary Numan on your influences I scoured your list to see if you'd covered this one hehe... this is my fave of his.

This rocked!

Dudes... this just cool. I love your sound, this beat is killer too, this has a cool alt-hip hop sound. I love hip hop when it has thought behind it... I grew up on Run DMC, KRS-One and Beastie Boys and now I barely listen to current hip hop cause most of it sucks lol. Loved this!

Lisa

Let It All Out by albumflaps 3 years ago
Okay, as someone who really sucks at guitar (I can play like a half dozen chords without muting the strings haha) I am awed by folks who can knock out a convincing song just using guitar as lead. I love that beat too... sort of Zeppelin-like. This was hot.

Lisa
St Augustine in Hell (Sting -Cover) by Tony2008 3 years ago
This was really soulful, I love the harmonies. It's always a *challenge* (duh, yeah might wanna remember to type the whole thought! haha) covering anything Sting wrote... the man is a musical genius. I have a lot of respect for you musically, this must have been some work to put together. Awesome mother's day gift, I bet she loved it!

Being a fan of Blue Rodeo I think you should do a full version.. you have a great voice for this song, and it's got some cool potential for harmonies. Maybe you could get someone else to do Jim Cuddy's part to add some extra dimension? Some potential in this one, good job smiley

My boyfriend was in an accident where his choice was to plow through a drunk driver or avert. He rolled his tractor trailer but managed to survive with very little injury... the lyrics really resonate with me because it's how he felt about his crash. Really cool tune... The melody on this is gorgeous... and I love how it starts with the street noises, it gives it an extra storytelling dimension. Petra's voice sort of reminds me of Cerys Matthews, but softer edged... it plays beautifully against your deep tone. Really loved this track, nothing short of amazing.

I could easily see someone flowing over this... not usually one to listen to naked hip-hop beats (mainly because I generally find them repetitive without the vox) but this has a nice thump to it. Figured since I listened to all your other stuff I couldn't leave this one out haha. Hope you find/found someone to collab on it with.

I definitely see what olympus is talking about with the Daft Punk reference (I think it's more the autotune than the music that causes that similarity though). Loved this beat, the synths work perfectly with it... it's a good thing you don't have a ton of tracks up cause I'd have to listen to them all.. I'd be here all day!

A poem, "The Step" by Poseidon 3 years ago
Your mother kind of reminds me of me as a kid in your description smiley You know something though? We all have our vulnerable sides, some of us just happen to be better at hiding it - especially from our kids.

This poem was probably more of your mother than you could ever have realized - because you were her son. My mom is now going on 61... as a kid I was terrified of her, and in my 20's I had a teetering relationship with her. A couple years ago it all came to a head after my dad passed away... and now I am starting to see the side of her she was desparately trying to hide with the tough exterior.

The reflection on your mom was actually just as touching as the poem... enjoyed listening smiley
