Biography
Sean Ryan graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.A. in Music Education having already gained a plethora of musical recognition one of which was becoming the founding grandmaster of the TCNJ Composers Guild. Sean has taught instrumental music in various school districts at multiple levels. As the conductor of the Glen Rock Pops, Sean is also a freelance music teacher and a composer of merit.
Although Sean’s main instrument is saxophone, he is widely versed in other families of instruments. With seven completed symphonies, he has also composed, transcribed, adapted, and arranged many other pieces for band, orchestra, and various types of chamber ensembles, and solo works. More than a dozen of these pieces have been performed, and several recorded by the Paramus High School Orchestra in New Jersey, various community bands in the Bergen County, New Jersey area and TCNJ Ensembles.
A distinguished member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers) Sean has written various scores for several independent films such as “Save”, and “Once in a Blue Moon"
