Glad I found your song, it is a rare gem upon this vast sea of noise. I also would agree with a previous reviewer about modifying the ending, it was too loud and out of place with your mood. Also the solo instrument, i think its meant to be a violin over the piano, it needs to sound more like a violin and less like the poor impression of one. That melody has a great layering effect but make it sound as pretty and sad as your song. good job, can't wait to hear the rest of your stuff.....
Sing Them Over Again to Me by David E. Fahnestock 6 years ago
The song doesn't really grab me but your voice does. Would love to experiment with the production and have you layer more vocal over the single track and harmony... not necessarily more harmony but another layer of your voice, like Brian Wilson does : ) anyway, why not upload the songs you wrote!

You gotta have guts to go acapella on here and you really make a sweet sound! very nice job. now if i could only figure out how to use the built-in mic myself i could add some lyrics and voice to my songs!! but i'll never sound as good as you. EXCELLENT JOB

This really a GREAT song!!!! Your production tho sounds muddled, and your singing is not what I think is needed for a song of this caliber, hire a pro, and make this song really rock. VERY NICE JOB!!! this should be on the radio
She's My New Girl Now by DAVEGEE 6 years ago
Why are there no comments here? this is a real solid effort. I just picked the song out randomly in the Auditorium but was very pleasantly surprised by what i found. Very pop sound, almost wants to be faster and brighter to go with the happy lyric. You wrote a good pop song here, maybe you already have written a great one, i will checkout your other stuff.

love this intro....wonderful transition to the main theme....percussion and bass fit beautifully .... this song is grooving right along.... WONDERFUL.....spacey but with a melody to hum along to..... very very nice.... i see i listened to this song back in february, and liked it just as much then ! : ) glad to see my tastes are consistant : ) ... the song STILL cuts off before the ending! can you fix that? then i will put in on my iPod!

frankie vallee meets frank zappa? great vocal, except for it being too muddy, the voice is superb jut wish i could hear it more clearly....
gotta scratch my head and ask what would motivate someone to write a song like this, but but its wacky and makes me smile. clean up the production and its really nice.

am loving the intro to this song!! just beginning a bit to wonder where the song is going tho.... now it is ending before it began... but it was very good while it lasted!!! why not take this song and develop it further?
XpressURself by themactech 7 years ago
song begins very nicely, nice melodic hook, drums fit the mood perfectly, nice vocal fill before kicking back to the main groove, love the break without the drums, this sounds like a very professional dance track that could be a hit (is it? was it? : ) i see i commented on this a while back, i am still inlove with it and even more now... great job.....
Paella Caluroso by Bernie 7 years ago

bernie, this is a very different production and i like it a lot, the crisp guitar is very clean and beautiful. The orchestration though in the previous version was much more evident (was it a synth? sounded like an orchestra behind the guitar as i recall) and it was those strings that brought out the tears. The introduction is a big improvement. I wish i had more time now to study this more and compare the two, because i think what you want ultimately is a song that is somewhere between these two versions. Don't lose that powerful orchestration, i think it is too far back now, and the guitar is great upfront, but can't stand on its own for full effect. WEll, those are my two cents for now, i hope i am not driving you nuts with my suggestions, and hope i am not giving conflicting suggestions.... but thanks for keeping me posted and i still think this is one of the best songs on here....
cheers!

great intro, GREAT INTRO, but the drums didn't kick in like i expected them to.... darn i think you missed a great opportunity there.... then the break hits..... the cymbals, nice, but then those weak drums, piddily rock beat, when it reallys wants a DANCEBEAT. anyway, love that robot vocal : ) those synths kick in and it ROCKS again!!! wooaaaah!!!! GREAT!!!!!!!! i love this part!!! keep on bringing on the sound.... whip it around left to right, just slightly there.. could have done that more... then the break very cool.. is this the end??? yep!!! very nice!!! with better drums and production this would be a total 5 .. as it stands it is really cool, .... didn't read anyone elses comments yet but i see you have a lot of feedback already!!!

love this introduction!! so clean and pretty.. now the vocal comes in.. but it is muddy and too far back... this song has a great feeling to it, but the vocal doesn't match up. i think the two styles are at odds with one another. maybe it is just a technical issue with production? or more fundamental stylistic incompatibility, either way, its a very nice effort and a solid piece of work. (by the way, i made my comments without reading the previous entry first).

great intro!!! what incredible guitar work, but vocals seem to be on a much lower energy level, doesn't match the energy of the song? (i wrote this comment before i saw Blacklily's comment above!) there is some real potential here in these songs, but not quite all coming together yet!!
Southern Nights by Bernie 7 years ago
I just listened again on my good speakers at home, and wow, what a great production and mixing is done so well, this is a wonderful piece of work!
Southern Nights by Bernie 7 years ago
oh now i remember... just went back to listen to your song "Paella" which is so wonderful! (and i want to relisten to the remix to see if it is even better)... in my opinion "Paella" is much finer than this new song, it has a musical theme that is a real melody that you can whistle to, whereas i found that lacking in "Southern Nites". Southern nites was soothing, but did not grab your attention like "Paella"... Paella has a hook that draws you in and makes you want to hear it over and over again.. its like it hits on some part of the brain.... just wonderful... i guess it can't be easy to make those kinds of songs, but keep trying : )

love that organ... this song is very relaxing : ) who is playing that guitar? excellent. everything sounds like it fits, just grooving along, nothing jumps out like a hook, then again nothing jumps out to annoy either, this is just a nice laid back lounge type song... i am looking back now at the previous notes on this song and see that you play all the instruments, which is amazing in itself, and the fact that you whipped this one up fast, i'm very impressed, i need to go back and re-listen to your other songs... its been a while since i have taken time to listen to songs on this site, and i am glad i am back and finding nice work like this...

i love the beat, and some sections are a lot of fun, even with the added sound effects dropping in and out, but sometimes the added effects fail, and detract from the song... esp the slow part, and then the southern guitar at the end.. .totally out of place, does that guitarist sit with the band only to play his one bar then goes home? just kidding.. i am guilty of the same thing, mixing instruments in unnatural ways, and its not always pretty.... but then again, with garageband wwe can experiment and see what works.. anyway, i liked this as a start and you can make it better with a little work!!!!

love the time signature, or is it syncopation? very creative chord changes makes this song really interesting to listen too despite the otherwise simple structure and production. voice works very well for being so up front and unaltered, would love to hear harmonies over it. this song gets better with reapeated listenings!! by the way is this james taylor playing with us? congrats on a real hit song (my only "4" is because i think you can still improve the vocal somehow)

wow great intro.. this just keeps getting better...love those effects : ) !!
great break ... seems like pink floyd a little there ..... there is the break again, now fading out to the end...nice... wow thats a suprise ending!
YIKES ... what a great song! keep at it , i can hardly believe you are not a pro for how good this song sounds,... especially the smoothness of the voice and the overall stunning mixing and production !!!
i'm a fan! good going.. i like this song much better than your second one (which I heard first).. but they are both very very promising

Got To Get Away by spinner 7 years ago
great voice and vocal production !! right up front and well mixed.
Loved the intro, was very captivated by the first verse, even the lyrics, very compelling.. then the song died for me at the chorus, ("if your only looking forwards..." smiley. still the song is very well crafted all around i can't fault the production one bit (except the "ah" harmonies at the end, seemed off somehow .. can't put my finger on it, but its a small criticism for a great effort, considering its only your second song, you have GREAT potential, maybe need to team up with another songwriter, cause you got all the rest!

Loved the excellent drums, and loved the jangly electric guitar and fuzz guitar with echo, nice voice, but didn't get into the melody so i didn't pay attention to the lyrics (well i did listen but didn't hear anything that hit me as interesting), nice clean mix but the acoustic guitar seemed so out of place, especially beginning this song with the acoustic guitar--just lead in with the drums would be fine. Song has hints of an edgy Patti Smith style, esp the vocals. i wouldn't normally review a song that i am not wild about but seems like this has a lot going for it, just doesn't have any hooks, would be interested to know how it was made, sounds like a band, is it just one person putting this together?

Immigration Land by cvJoint 7 years ago
wow, very overwhelming in a good way, loved the vocals and the whole overblown orchestration and great sounds.. only thing i can't get excited about is the lyrics, i understand its an emotional topic, but can't see the topic of immigration and this song together... but despite that personal preference the song is still a 5 in my book!!! (make it a love song and it will be a top 10 <G> smiley

some real cool loops and samples, way more than you need in a single song tho! it seemed too "busy" in certain sections for my simple tastes, but brilliant in other parts....i had to listen the whole way through... very fun overall.. good job

Lake Shore Drive (edit) by MajrGroov 7 years ago
dear dbw784, i couldn't agree with you more, all of my "songs" so far are just foundations without melody or lyrics, basically just playing with the loops and learning how to use the program. the few attempts i've made so far to finish off the songs have failed for technical reasons, for example my computer doesn't seem able to take the live keyboard track while the others are playing without a delay, and for some reason i can't get my MIDI interface to work with my microphone.... but thanks for listening to my stuff and commenting!
Storm's Eye by PsycoSemaj 7 years ago
i was gonna say it sounded like something Moby could have done, loved the piano melody and spacey feeling... it felt like the drums came in too abruptly and maybe too clunky in comparison to the piano, also the guitar is so nasty next to the beauty of the piano, but maybe you wanted that contrast. i think you wrote a nice "description" above and I think you have a lot of promise, keep the spirit and follow your dreams....
Funkee_Monkee by Bernie 7 years ago
YOU ARE GREAT! i dont' even have to qualify that with "for your first song on garage band". Keep going, make a CD, pitch it to a big record company and retire!! SERIOUSLY.
Need Vocal ideas by ttucker512 7 years ago
sounds pretty undeveloped to me, like it could go anywhere as far as a melody is concerned. i could not even follow the chord changes very easily, considering how good your other work is though, i would not be surprised if you could make this into a great song too... but you might be better off working with the other people on here that have great songs already that are crying out for vocals!
When Mermaids Cry by ttucker512 7 years ago
absolutely wonderful sound!!!!!!!!!!! you have a very distinctive and great sounding voice!! loved this song too! never heard of the band but will have to look into them. blown away! have to agree with the previous posts you are a STAR on here (Billboard is next : )
Down to the River to Pray by ttucker512 7 years ago
excellent production, has a lot of depth to the sound, and there is a subtle organ in there too isn't there? love the melody and the clarity of the vocals and harmonies... shows how great garage band can be for all kinds of music... great job!!
Mixed Emotions by themactech 7 years ago
u are a pro, the sound is awesome, spacey feel with the echo and reverb, instruments come in and fit together nicely, the song works without a vocal, and has a romantic feel.....
but what happened to the ending? it cuts off on my computer... surely you did not intend to do that
XpressURself by themactech 7 years ago
Infectious beat and hook, loved it. Smells like a hit to me if only the vocals and lyrics were expanded upon. Killer dance number.
3am Jam (hi-bitrate version) by themactech 7 years ago
Professional Studio sound and composition, technically and creatively fits the smooth jazz category to a "T". A product with a market. Who can argue with that?
Caterpillars & Alligators by vorr 7 years ago
Reminds me of Laurie Anderson--Sharkie's Day album, definitely has that kind of quirky avant-guard feel to it... Tom Waits Mule Variations also comes to mind...
Waiting for Someday by vorr 7 years ago
quirky and strange, but nice effort esp with the melody and lyrics, makes its more than just a collection of loops... was impressed by the vocal effects, for someone who doesn't know what they are doing, you are doing ok!

Moonlight by gost 7 years ago
awesome voice and guitar, and a great song too, its all great except the drums and bass, they don't do the song justice, not sure if its mixing or just not as "real" as the rest of the song or as interesting... but you can always tweak that stuff!! you got the hard part down cold!! great job.....
Constellation by inkubus4511 7 years ago
very nice the way it is, but could be a absolute knockout with the right vocal and lyrics
SoulSailSound by dodo1970 7 years ago
i liked the sound clip from "pulp fiction" harvey keitel... thought you may have incorporated bits of it throughout the song. i liked the mood of the song a lot, but maybe i was in a hurry and couldn't appreciate the slow movement of the song, so that it seemed monotonous after a while, but still a lot better than anything i have done, keep trying....

What Next? by Ringo 7 years ago
very professional and well composed and interesting and definitely A+ material, personally i liked the ending the best. i still can't believe you are putting this stuff together all from GB loops. you definitely know what you are doing!! u manage to layer a lot of sounds and they all work together like BUTTER : )
for an instrumental it really holds ones attention, would like to see what you can do with melody and lyrics!! great job, ... by the way, you sure musical style has sure evolved a lot from when your were with the fab four......

i have to agree with brownsugar, some nice moments in this piece, but it is obviously not a a finished product, even the end is cut off and not in a pleasing way! for a first go, you did put some nice sounds together though!!

I like this song a lot, and your voice is great. I want you on one of my songs : )
Endless Night by Prongs 7 years ago
Hey great beginning, i was all set to be soothed into an ambient daze, then the glaring organ kicked in then some other obnoxious instrument kicked in then a few other machines, but you left out the kitchen sink which is something i always put in my lame compositions... but at least you have a good start and i bet it was fun to make : ) keep trying
Pedal 2 The Metal by Ringo 7 years ago
PS, are you THE Ringo?? <G> that would be cool : )
Pedal 2 The Metal by Ringo 7 years ago
Totally awesome! i thought it was a heavy metal cover of some famous song (btw i don't follow metal), just groovin to the chord changes and the total full sound.. the ONLY thing i was surprised by is how the guitar solo was not more up front and louder!! is that intentional? seems like it needs to be mixed forward more... just a suggestion, otherwise, you are a god! would be really interested to know if this is made entirely from the GB loops and virtual keyboard like your other songs.
Botticheli by Ringo 7 years ago
Groovy!! very cool
Play it Twice by Ringo 7 years ago
Very smooth, and well put together, a nice rambling jazz jam, pleasant to listen to, nothing seemed out of place or amateurish about this!! I just read your description now, and am AMAZED that you played the guitars on the virtual keyboard that comes with the GB software!! now i'm even more impressed!! GREAT JOB.
I'm Faling by Linz 7 years ago
I love how you made a great song out of those piano loops and added a very cool melody and the voice is just the right amount of reverb and echo and who knows what else, amazing how much of a song really revolves around the beauty of a naturally fine voice. the drums kicked in and blew the whole effect for me!! i lost the feeling through the rest of the song... i wonder if you brought in the bass first and saved the drums for later, or just kept a simpler drum loop in the song... for me i would have preferred a slower beat to keep up with the moody feeling of the song... keep at it ... i love your work
NYC(Manhattan-City I Love) by myridan 7 years ago
i like it, the beginning especially is VERY cool, the piano and chord changes are GREAT, and your voice sounds very nice here too... its a great song clip, i was just wanting it to develop into a great complete song!
Lawyers. Guns and Money(cover) by myridan 7 years ago
love the piano, strings (synth) drums, percussion flairs, and voice is stong too, just don't like the pulsing wind instrument (clarinet?), i don't think you need it. i also like the organ when it kicks in ... the original one of my favorite songs and you did a very good cover (i'd say you did a great cover considering i know how hard it is to make a song that even sounds decent on here!!). great job.
Keep Thinking Of You by Dali 7 years ago
You are right, this is a wonderful song, and I like it a lot. You sound like a professional--singer and songwriter--the bass drum tho, is off beat in a way that is not pleasing, its a minor problem, but nonetheless needs fixing! Can't wait to hear your next hit!!
Dark by georgeh 7 years ago
i really liked the beginning and ending which were clean and simple. when the drums kicked in near the middle it sounded out of place and overwhelming. i think you have a great song with some editing....i know i try to put to many sounds into my songs and people are telling me the same thing... must be because its so easy to ADD stuff with garageband, its hard to know when to leave things out and create space.... but i really had to listen to the whole song, it had held my interest, keep up the good work, i know i have liked your other songs too....
Red house (cover) by Sverker 7 years ago
totally awesome, my only critique is that the vocals sound to distant, which is too bad because they are also very good and would sound evern better if they were more up front....
You Will Hear My Lullaby by Keith 7 years ago
very nice job, i have to agree on the vocal critique (above), but then again, i hate think what my songs will sound like when i record my voice to them! I guess i will have to wait till they come up with computer generated voices that sound real.... by the way who's working on that??? in the meantime i can't wait to hear more of your work... congratulations on this one!
Dead Valentine by georgeh 7 years ago
i liked this song the first time, then even more the second time, its a song fragment but could really be made into something great with more work... i think it would benefit from a more traditional song structure AABA or ABA etc....
(Our Love's) Taking a Vacation by avuncularmom 7 years ago
loved the sound of the guitar and voice reminded me of Neil Young. I think you would be able to do a great cover of a Neil Young song. the lyrics were interesting, but need work : ) i gotta hand it to you for including the lyrics and melody with the song, which really makes a song complete and is missing from most garage band compositions (mine included) ... keep at it
Walking in the Footsteps Remix by LeaJones 7 years ago
Granted i haven't sampled much of iCompositions yet, but this is by far the best song i have heard on here! Listened from beginning to end in somewhat bewilderment, is this an amateur production? or someone playing a trick on here : ) vocals are great, i haven't even read the lyrics yet, but even without that the song holds up ... would be curious to know how much of garageband was used on here and how much was the musicians.. in any event CONGRATS on a fantastic SONG!!!!!
