Great lead guitar, although to my ears it would sound better with less distortion. You certainly got your chops down. Wish I could play lead as smooth as this! Nice one.

This is really very good. It's a song that soars.

I wish I had more time to spend on icomp, to be able to find more gems such as this.

Love the vibe with this. Some memorable guitar lines here.

Perhaps a little less reverb on the guitar, but this is just personal taste.

This is classic. Love the intro, and when the bass and drums come in you sit up and take notice.

Sends shivers down my spine.

Guitar sounds great on this pete, love the chord work and the initial lead riff.

Can I nab this as a loop? smiley

Great instrumentation, love the backing on this one. Seems quite different to your other work, your musical range is impressive.

Vocals reminiscent of Bauhaus/ Joy division (main chord progression and opening lines reminded me of Bela Lugosi's dead!)

Nice one.

It always amazes me how you get that big, punchy sound out of Garageband.

Great stuff!

Been a while since I checked out your stuff - I'm glad you're still uploading some great quality tracks. Really enjoyed this one. I like the way you used the applause as a sample that you mixed into the track.

Great guitar work and production. I think I might nick some of those chord progressions!

This is a good first track. There's nothing wrong with using loops - check out LWinston's music, he's probably this site's best example of what can be achieved with loops.

Love the orchestration. I like the discordant rumblings I can hear in the background that signals the dark side to this chap, before the dramatic transition.

Reminds me of Howard Shore - is he an influence?

Great work guys, the bass really adds to the track. And great guitar work there naz.

Unfortunately, I added my guitar parts to the wrong version! So now we have two very different versions of a great track! http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=59252

I actually think your version now doesn't need any more guitar, but would as nealbowen said be awesome with a bit of trumpet or another instrument.

Wow, this is nice. I discovered this by accident the other day, having not visited icomp for a while. Very creative use of the loops here, I really love the vocal.

In my view, it's a shame my latin guitar loops didn't scale that well to the slower tempo, sounding a bit 'warbly'! Pete, next time, if you need a version of any loop at a different tempo, just drop me a line and I'll record one for you.

Can't believe I've missed this one until now. Fantastic collab guys, sounds like you're all in the studio playing together, seamless. Love the horns. My only gripe would be that some of the guitar solo work feels a little over the top for this track, but that's just my 'less is more' tendency.

5

Love the piano, I'd like to hear the guitar ever so slightly a bit more though - they're just about there on headphones, but through my speakers you can't quite make them out as clearly. Backing vocals are spot on too. I would like to hear an acoustic bass gently bubbling along in the background too.
Hand in Hand by 4arms 5 years ago
5

Yes, I agree, the vocals probably need to sit back a bit in the mix, and the lead guitar sounds a bit thin. But the song is strong and with a bit more work on the production it's a winner!

I know I've already commented on this, but I just can't stop listening to this track. Sends a shiver down my spine every time. Driving my wife nuts air-guitaring along to it, pretending I'm Al Di Meola with his Ovation, riffing along to it ... I wish.

If Sting heard this he'd love it. As would Peter Gabriel I bet - the intro reminds me of the soundtrack he did to Last Temptation of Christ.

Ah, I'm glad I found this, I'm a big P. Furs fan. Nice, dark atmosphere, like the vocal effects and guitar work. I felt the vocals could be a bit stronger though, need a bit more 'oomph', to my ears at least.

Those Southern Guitar loops are beautiful aren't they. You've used them to great effect here.
Heading West by JD 5 years ago

Hi, this is down as a pure loop-based track, is this correct? If so, you seem to have a talent for creating great compositions purely from loops! Nice one.
I think the track could be improved with some use of the stereo field, to emulate the sound of two guitarists jamming off each other.
