It's all right with me by Mosaica 6 days ago
Thanks everyone, and especially @pharmakeus for repeated visits! It's also nice to read that for some people these old classics are in fact new. I find I'm also learning a lot about music & songs I didn't know about when I discover the cover versions here!
Sunken Eyes by RMulholland 6 days ago
I really like this one, it's melodic and metallic! Lots of interesting sounds, quite industrial too, but it sweeps along nicely.

I love Spanish music (I used to flamenco dance as a hobby) and Spain! This is gentle but rhythmic with that stateliness that Spanish music can have.
Hallelujah (Cover) by Deebeesea 6 days ago
This is very nice indeed. Delicate, lace-like music, and the vocal skims the notes beautifully and gracefully and has real emotion too.
Time To Come Home by Beatle128 6 days ago
The sound of the Mersey for sure! A really enjoyable and upbeat listen - authentic vocal and really nice percussion too.
Seeing Is Believing by artneuro 6 days ago
Powerful and intense, we can feel your frustration and anger, yet this is still catchy and melodic. Really like the guitar solo too.

Quintus Elementum (the fifth element) by A1K3M1 15 days ago
Definitely aetherial! I don't often listen to this sort of genre but this piece, for me, is a very engaging soundscape that completely held my attention from start to finish. A wide spectrum of pitch, rich textures, and with rhythmic changes that pull you up short.

Congratulations all - a fine & catchy song on a worthy topic. I see it was written in 1989 - has the destruction of the world's forests slowed down??

Warm and comforting, soothing and lilting with its texture of soft percussion and soulful voices. Lovely.
Tu Non Mi Conosci (You Don't Know Me) by carlajpatterson 29 days ago
Such good news!! This is a dramatic piece indeed - I like the lyrics too, and the instrumentation of the music track is lovely.

Some nice tone in your vocal notes, and I'm aware that you must still be making progress towards your former voice. If you can "open up" more for, and therefore relax into, the higher notes I'm sure the richness will come through that I hear in the lower register.

This is truly a breakthrough for you Carla, I'm delighted to hear this, and yes, our duet now seems within reach!
My Baby Baby by Beatle128 1 month ago
Sweet nostalgic sound! Is this an original composition? Fab if so! The girls' voices really blend well - it's collabs like this where it's hard to imagine that they weren't all together in the recording studio! Lovely sax soloing.
I'm Here in Paris by LaFayette 1 month ago
Warm and inviting. Clever use of the pan & echos on the vocals. Lovely piano riffs, cascading drums, and the vibraphone passages. Lovely work you two.

Wow, a real fusion sound of funky jazz and Eastern beats. I am sure the Buddha doth approve!
La Sagrada Familia (cover) by thsantac 1 month ago
I'm afraid I am ignorant of the original, and having visited La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona last November this was a "must hear" for me. I am not disappointed! This sounds like it was quite an undertaking and it's a real quality production - the intensity is really "prog rock". Congratulations all round.

For Milt J. by Telemetry 1 month ago
I love the vibraphone. As you say, this is very impressionistic but is kept together by that underpinning brass riff. I'd like to hear a longer resonance at the end though - it kinda gets chopped off!

A creative collaboration indeed - the bright edginess of the guitar contrasts with the silkiness of your vocals. Some of the harmonies create tension which reflects the feeling of the lyrics very well.

THE MONKEY KING by Lagusaya2 2 months ago
I enjoyed listening to this - I liked the kettle drums early on (a bit reminiscent of "Also sprach Zarathrusta" smiley and the change of pace and timbre 2/3 way through with the oriental part. Sorry to hear you have been unsuccesful but it's good to at least try.
I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You (cover) by thsantac 2 months ago
I don't know the original, but I sure like this. What a fabulous instrumental music base, love the guitar solo half way through. The vocal has just the right FX and sits well in the mix.

Oh Sinner Man - vocal version by ihussain 2 months ago
I'm only familiar with the Nina Simone version so this is refreshing - not to say educative - to hear a more authentic version. (I'm also gonna search out the "demented banjo" versions too though!!)
YOU TELL LIES by SISTERS 2 months ago

La vie en rose (Piaf version) by Mosaica 2 months ago
Thank you all for listening in and the positive reception and comments - it is always daunting covering a song by such a great singer and a classic song.

@LaFayette - Merci beaucoup for your compliment about my French! smiley
@sprkymrt - Edith Piaf did an English version as well, so it might have been that one you heard but Wikipedia shows many people have covered it over the years including Brenda Lee from that era.

What They Tell You by Beatle128 2 months ago
This indeed has the spirit. I like the buzzy sounds, and really love that intro (sounds a bit like a hurdy gurdy but I'm sure it's not?!)
Give Me Back My Shoes by mikebms 2 months ago
Raw, thrashing and vibrant. Would have liked a suitably-frenzied finish rather than a fade-out - perhaps signifying you'd got the shoes thrown at you from the window! LOL.
Midinettes by Rocambole 2 months ago
Mais oui, tres Francais! A bit of a "Hot Club" vibe too, but modernised with those zylophone/glock run. In fact this is quite a journey with all those different instruments soloing and coming to the fore! Gorgeous piano solo halfway through.
Soft Drink by archjerry 2 months ago
Definitely smooth and juicy! Love the piano rolls and tinkles and those drums... Lush.

Piano Scramble [piano, piano, trombone, tuba, congas] by davidsmith99 2 months ago
5

An artist only has to mention "congas" and I'm there! This is a great contemporary piece, but the piano also has an old-fashioned sound that I can hear this being accompanying music for a chase in an old silent b&w film - "The Artist" missed out on you!!
Beam of Light by Balok 2 months ago

What a lovely piece. Pretty piano line which adds graceful dynamics to the stately flow of the strings and wind instrument lines. Love that staccato rhythmic section in the first half too.

Grooved Lanes Ahead by brassgospelguy 2 months ago
Vibrant and energetic. Love that brass sound, feels kind of 1960's in feel but then contemporised with the 'clubby' electro-rhythms. Sort of 'electro-swing' genre maybe? Thanks for the dl.
Walk With Me by ihussain 2 months ago

Delightful. I love the staccato pulses, and the lovely melody on top. It does feel like it could be a filmscore to a dream sequence, perhaps those bells help give that feeling.

It's funny where the muse decides to take you..but..I adore thumping tabla percussion so looking forward to that one when it happens!!

How Blue Was My Valley by IantoFullpelt 2 months ago

Being of Welsh descent, and having read the original book (How Green Was My Valley) I had to come and listen to this!

I sympathise with the lyric, and enjoyed the tune and the guitar. You also have a good voice and the whole thing is well mixed (though I think you could have had a longer fade out). Well done.
Pieces Of My Mind by Mike_Lynn 2 months ago

I really like this song, and it's nice to hear another version. A good sound balance between the music and the vox, and I like the tinkling piano that comes through. The lightness of the tune is given an 'edge' by those heavy guitars - works well, and the improvisation from the keyboard at the end is really good.

This is a real high quality cover. Vicki - your voice is just superb on this one, really strong and expressive, reaching those low notes with perfect ease. The instrumentation sounds authentic to the genre and is layered to give depth. Bravo both.
Spiritual by AcetyleneJukebox 3 months ago
Goodness, this is quite a ride from mellow into contemporary jam, aided by the electro guitar. Some nice twisted cadences and fluid licks in there, and I love the jingly-jangy percussion at the end.
