Cheers, I've been fooling around some with Final Cut to make moving pictures to My music. Now, being a total dumkopf when it comes to digital pictures, I need to know how to compress 1 GB of film into a format possible to post here. This far My own attempts have totally ruined the quality of the film. Any hints? Best regards from me to you!

45 rpm -> 33 rpm 10 years ago
Thanks for your offer alanatomic! However the re-sample trick does not really work in my case since I want to transpose a file at least 2 octaves and then have it stretched about 50%. I've found two apps that I can use to do this without totally destroying the sound though: Amazing Slow Downer & djay.

Thanks again everybody for suggestions!
Peace!

Thank you surak777! I have Vinyl and use it together with Pro Tools. It's a handy plug-in. Thanks for the tip.
45 rpm -> 33 rpm 10 years ago
Thanks for your suggestions! djay is very cool indeed but it is not possible to save your pitched files it seems?

Audacity did exactly what I wanted to do until it crashed. Now it is impossible to open it again. I will do a re-installation and a restart and all that.

I can't find Traktor. But I found Amazing Slow-downer which also is very usefull for what I want to do.

Thanks a lot for your tips!
45 rpm -> 33 rpm 10 years ago
I would like to transpose and slow down a digital recording in the same way one can do with a vinyl singel - to create the effect that comes when you play a 45 rpm record on 33 rpm.

Is there such an application? Glad for any hint!
Thanks!

The question is quite impossible to answer unless one can define music itself. But I would say: Yes, absolutely! Noice isn't just "bad" sounds, it's a genre. To me music is communication, regardless of what it's made of.

H7? Perhaps you mean G or B (both are next to H on the keyboard).

H can be used to refer to Bb, which fits fine -- his progression is a cycle of perfect 4th steps; excluding the tritone step to the dominant, which allows it to cycle repeatedly.

cheers.

Well, in Sweden we sometimes use the letter H for the B-note. Don't ask me why. So the scale sometimes reads A-B-H-C and sometimes A-Bb-B-C. I know it's bewildering, even to us/me. But it has in fact been used by composers such as J. S. Bach and D. Schostakovich to compose fuges and stuff with their names as musical themes. My chord progression should read (with a slight modification on the second to last chord):
am7 / D7 / Gmaj7 / Cmaj7 / Fmaj7 / B7 / em / E7

That's B7, not Bb7. Sorry for my looong explanation.

Yes, it really is a C-major chord that makes the bottle vibrate. It then turns into a c-minor 4 which turns into a g-minor 11. But the chord that made the bottle start to vibrate some decades ago was a plain C-major.

John wasn't there.

It was Paul and the chord was a C major.

An absolutely awful concept is the Gregorian munks who chants various Beatles tunes in something they would like to call Gregorian style. It's new age at its absolutely worst: http://www.emusic.com/album/10907/10907537.html

The VW plates on the cover of Abbey Road.

John, Ringo & George wears red roses in Magical Mystery Tour, while Paul wears a black one.

None of this makes any sense though. Which is fun. Strange but fun.

As far as I know, he used it initially as a back-up instrument on live shows. The first recording is according to GH "Think for yourself" (I suppose he should know). My guess is anyhow "Paperback writer".

In other words, I don't know but I'm eager to find out.

World choir wanted 12 years ago
I've composed a 2 minutes long (or short) piece for choir and had this crazy idea of forming a world choir. I'd love it if YOU want to participate by adding your voice. It's a fairly traditional piece for 6 parts; soprano, alto, tenor, bass and 2 soloists (sop & ten). This means that I need at least 4 singers (sop, alt, ten, bass). The maximum participants is sky high though...

Anyone interested? Or is the idea too corny? Those of you who are interested: send me a message and I'll send you the score (perhaps together with a midi file). Then you can decide...

iComp AWARDS: JUST AN IDEA OR A REAL CHANCE? 12 years ago
Well, lupiroz, that's just one of many things that is great with iComp: we all have something to gain from sharing, wether it's music or thoughts... And a total agreement is quite impossible I suppose.

I guess I'll never feel comfortably with music-competitions since it is something completely different from sharing. Where there is a winner, there is undoubtebly some losers. And that doesn't really fit into my world of dealing with music, as an input or output.

I think the whole idea of competing with music is impossible. To me there is no such thing as good or bad music (or production/mixing/guitar playing/singing/song writing/whatever) - it all comes down to the form and place where you present it. One of the things that I like about iComp is the fact that there is room for everyone - without judging.

If I wanna compete, I play soccer.
I don't even like the Weekly Top 10 list.
Just my humble opinion.

(Very sorry to hear about the remarks you recieved, Mr enicholsIC. Such things doesn't really fit into my world either.)
iComp AWARDS: JUST AN IDEA OR A REAL CHANCE? 12 years ago
Making music is not competetive! I mean, what makes one song better than another? And who is to determine? I know what I like, and I wouldn't want to be "proven" wrong by someone telling me that I dig a baaad tune...

This is tricky, I agree that Acoustic is not a genre. It's more a question of instrumentation. It is acoustic instrumentated music that I would like to see exposed. Folk however is undoubtedly a genre. I'm talking about instrumentation in a thread devoted to genres. Sorry, my mistake. It wont happen again...
Revising the Genre List 12 years ago
On second thought, Acoustic as a substyle is a very good idea!
Revising the Genre List 12 years ago
Well, I've never been very keen on categorizing music... But I find it more interesting to listen to an acoustic guitar/flute/piano or whatever than a synthetic version of the same. Regardless of musical style. A Capella pieces can also be a lot of different styles. But hey, Acoustic as a subgenre would be fine!
Revising the Genre List 12 years ago
Acoustic is a genre I'd like to include. Acoustic music is rather hard to find in our electronic world...
