Animus Intorqueo No. 1 (Solo Piano) by NickPerrin 2 years ago
Thanks for the awesome replies guys. I feel that this is the some of the truest music I have composed and I appreciate that you are listening to it.

There is actually a third piece in the series I uploaded alongside these - for some reason it didn't show up though, so I have deleted and reuploaded it, and it now appears properly if you're interested.

This would work great as one of the brief cinematic cues in Batman Begins or Dark Knight, well done! It's pretty cool what can be done working around a simple minor 3rd interval.

Thanks for the reviews guys.
Never heard any Numan or Ultravox before - at least, not directly/knowingly smiley
Their influence must stretch over a lot of other artists for me to have picked that up though. I'll check them out!

Yup as much as I love Logic, I may have to switch soon for upcoming projects. We'll see!
Nocturne Ab Min - No. 2 by NickPerrin 3 years ago
Hahah yes. That is the one thing everyone has been saying when they see the sheet music for this piece. "Ab minor?? 7 flats?" But the first idea of the piece came to me in Ab minor, and Ab minor it continued....

Thanks for the reviews!

The original, the great, From the Red Chair Volume 1.... I guess it can just be called From the Red Chair since there never will be a volume 2. OR WILL THERE?
Who knows, maybe the tracks this summer will be Volume 2 unofficially.

I really enjoyed this piece. When the beat first kicked in, I was like, oh no, he just ruined it. But it pulled it off. The ending is fantastic.

I was wondering - is there any possibility of turning this into a MIDI file? I know that GB is yet to implement an export as midi function and you can only import so far, but maybe you made this as midi first... I'm wondering because I'd like to take the MIDI and remake this with high-quality samplers (forget the gband instruments!) and make it sound twice as good. It deserves it, I think.

Although for garageband the strings are pretty good... is that jam pack 4 at work?

Rocking track man!!! Nice feel and I definitely like the choirs at the end. A few problems I had with it though - its a bit repetetive, the drums had barely any variation and the singing often sounded bad (sometimes sounded like really strained wailing with some out-of-tune parts).

Good job!
The Silent Struggle (Draft Version). by samboway 5 years ago
hey samboway, you can "outsource" (haha) the drums to me if you like. I just recently bought some great drums from www.sonicimplants.com, to hear an example of one of these kits in action, check out my latest offering: http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=33681.
There are several kits in the package I bought. It could really add some serious spice to the song! Just give me the song without a drum track, tell me the tempo etc. I might not be able to do it soon though as I am going away for a week this saturday. But afterwards, I'd be happy to!
Infernal (AWESOME REMAKE) by NickPerrin 5 years ago
Thanks bentenheimer! That's good to know that the drums are impressive, I just recently bought them (along with other drum kits that come in the set, and the electric and acoustic guitars, and the bass!)

Wow. Possibly the best metal offering I have heard on iComp (Just fix up the drum volume a little, but the drums are otherwise QUITE well done!).

Opeth is a fantastic band, and although this could pass off as an Opeth song, it still retains a good original style. Altogether a great song... though I think that some of the more repetetive sections could use a vocalist, that would just make this track unbelievable...

Keep it up!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I like those orchestral loops... jam pack 4 I presume? I think that they sound just a little out of place in this track though... but still great.

And one last thing: could you make this track available in mp3 for those of us who don't have ipods(but have other mp3 players), I'd like to have this one on mine. My mp3 player can't play m4a's.

Very nicely done! Great job. Opeth is quality stuff so I look forward to hearing the final inspired track.

Great work! I'm also glad to hear Jam Pack 4 in action. There are some instruments in it that don't sound great but still, good job!

Well hopefully its all just a big joke... you might find Luca's stuff ridiculous but don't take it any further than this song. I rated it well because I found a lot of it funny.

Black Blizzard by NickPerrin 6 years ago
It's okay, I realized I still have a midi version of it I made in Logic! Its a little bit outdated but I can update it to be the same as this mp3 version no problem.
So I can re-make this in GB again, and this time around I'll aim for better production too. And if anyone is willing to record guitar and/or bass parts...
Black Blizzard by NickPerrin 6 years ago
Hahaha "opeth meets nintendo"!! That's a good thing, I really like Opeth...and I guess by "nintendo" you mean the instruments that sound fake.

Yes I programmed the entire song, I might get this played with real guitar (by someone else) soon enough. When I do I'll repost it.

No reviews, but a bunch of plays... if you listen to the whole thing please post your thoughts! Don't be fooled by the intro, this is metal (well, progressive metal)!

Alright, just for the hell of it, I'm uploading the revised version. Find it under the same category if you want to hear it, the changes aren't huge mind you. The ending is different as well.
The Jury are Guilty by Lucazade22 6 years ago
How is this heavier? There are still no instruments. It's basically just as heavy as the others, but there are no clean vocals. Like I said I'll rate these when they have full arrangements. No offense, but a song with just growling/screaming vocals does not deserve the rating given by Jpedersen above.
Hero of War by Lucazade22 6 years ago
"and they aren't any more melodic (if less) than me."

They are, because they have full arrangements with guitars drums bass and sometimes keyboards. It could be good, but it needs more than just vocals. I'll rate it if you add more. At the very least - just drums, and guitar playing simple chord changes.

I'm 16 too! Nice to finally hear stuff from someone my age... and I'm damn impressed, mostly with the guitar playing. Great stuff... would you be interested in recording guitar parts for some progressive metal songs I have in the works?(right now I use software instruments for the guitar parts, as I don't play guitar).

Anyway, great stuff, keep it up.

Very nice. Great stuff. If they played this kind of thing with real strings at every church, I'd become religious!

I didn't enjoy the song a ton, but I must say it does rock, and is very well done! Possibly the best collabo I've heard on iComp yet!

OH MAN! You have to release a version with bank commercial narration. It's just TOO perfect. Try it yourself.

Good guitar work, great production... But those vocals.... really bad. I'm serious, you shouldn't put those effects on the vocals, it sounds really corny, and it otherwise sounded really amateurish and annoying, which is too bad as every other part of the song sounded pretty cool and professionally done!
red vibraphones (pour charlotte de versailles) by ponkey 6 years ago
Haha I was looking at archie7777's avatar pic while listening to this... makes it hilarious.

Cool piece, I guess that's a vibraphone software instrument? At first the notes and chord progression reminded me of that coldplay song...
God of Thunder by Mjothvitnir 6 years ago
Re-make this track with a bass shadowing the guitar, it will give it a much fuller sound. My comments on the song are above...
Do you have jam pack 4? If so, did you use it in this song?

Very good job with the 4 tracks! Stays true to the "simple but beautiful" approach. Good job. Very atmospheric and relaxed.
Is this one made with all software instruments?

Lounge music style! Good stuff for chilling to, not really for intense listening though.

Nice album cover!
Epic (the original!) by Ignoramus 6 years ago
I've now listened to it again, I think last time I was kind of biased negatively before I heard the song, expecting it not to be great. It's better, on second listen. You should have added reverb to the drums, they sound a bit frail for metal.
It's still not really great in my opinion, but now I find it good and worth hearing a few times. It is a bit repetetive though...
Good job!

Anyway, you know my opinion. No use ranting anymore.

Thanks for comment... They didn't really have a techno-rock category.
Revolution (The Resistance) by NickPerrin 6 years ago
Thanks for comment... this is an old track. It actually was made with video games in mind, inspired mainly by Half-Life 2(I had just recently been playing that game a lot when I made this track, which was about a years ago..).
The final version of this track is actually different, more polished in some parts, better overall. I might upload it.

GREAT. Finally, a GOOD metal song on iComp. They're hard to find here. That said, some parts repeated too long, and the drumming could use a lot more variation.
Memory (featuring Alimar) by SlimGirlFat 6 years ago

I'll just say I don't really like this style of music in the first place, and I found the song repetetive and simple, which makes it boring for me. Would be good for a movie soundtrack though. Nice production and singing... Are your songs even made in garageband anymore? I figure if you're moving up in the music business you might use something more powerful.

Anyway good luck in your future endeavours... but always take criticism to mind, helps to improve.

P.S. There needs to be an "Overall" rating box!!
Epic (the original!) by Ignoramus 6 years ago
All you guys here rock anyway, everyone's been reacting well to criticism, there's been no "DID YOU EVEN LISTEN TO THE SONG?" or "YOU SUCK AT REVIEWING SONGS". I just hope people will also take criticism to mind when making their next song. By the way... I listened to the 3rd remix, the one you said was favourite, because you said it was your favourite.
Epic (the original!) by Ignoramus 6 years ago

I'm sorry, but, I didn't really like it. Everyone here is raving about it but personally, I find it all too repetetive with not much real song development happening. It was just kind of boring. On the plus side production was good, and the playing was nothing special but sounded pretty much spot on.
