Biography
My name is Mark. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I was born in 1982.
I began working with GarageBand in my spare time at work in July 2007. When I got my new iMac at home in November of that same year I was able to focus more time on my music.
I have no formal musical training of any sort. I have what I like to call a "Darwinian" approach to song writing. I usually start with a basic concept of what I want to do with a song. Then I try different things, different loops, different effects, different synth settings, etc. until I find something that works. Then the song 'evolves' from there.
I began teaching myself guitar in March 2008. Progress has been slow, but I hope it won't be too long before I can record some original riffs. So far it's just been some improvised slide guitar with plenty of spacy effects (inspired by early Pink Floyd songs like "A Saucerful of Secrets").
Major influences on my music are Vintage Psychedelic and Progressive Rock (Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, The Beatles, Tomorrow, The Pretty Things), Space Rock (Nektar, Hawkwind), Modern Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal (Porcupine Tree, Tool, Dream Theatre), Modern Psychedelic Rock and Post-Rock (Melting Euphoria, Grails, The Black Angels, The Future Kings Of England), and even some Krautrock and Canterbury Scene (Amon Düül 2, Soft Machine, Caravan) . I also listen to some Modern Alternative like The White Stripes, Beck, Radiohead, and Cake.

| iTunes 11 Review | December 3, 2012 |
FIrst off, if you haven't already upgraded to iTunes 11 - DON'T! IT IS AWFUL! This is another instance of a so called "upgrade" taking one step forward and two steps back. It seems for every minor improvement they made, they balance it out by ****ing up something that worked perfectly fine before. In the case of the new iTunes you gain a couple new ways to organize and sort your media, by giving up the best features of the user interface.
