Biography
I started with piano lessons as a kid like many...
...classical, ragtime and blues were favorites...
Scott Joplin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Andrew Sisters
As a teen I picked up an electric guitar...
...hard rock, metal, psychedelic...
Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, Doors, Beatles, Black Sabbath / Ozzy, Alice Cooper
Threw a sampler and keyboard into the mix a bit later...
...industrial, synth pop, dark wave, gothic, post punk...
Art of Noise, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Oingo Boingo, Ministry, Violent Femmes, Cure
It all makes for a bit of a bipolar form of expression I suppose.
From two tape decks as a kid, to a four track in my twenties and then the PC.
I use FL Studio for rhythm, and some instrumentation. I then transfer the files to Sonar for all the live stuff (guitar, keys, vocals).
I play a Strat (not American
), an old bass that was found in a dumpster, a pawn shop acoustic and a Yamaha S03 keyboard. Vocs are through a Shure (57). Fairly bare bones rig I suppose.
The arrangement/recording/production aspect has become as fun for me as the original creative process these days. It's its own strange art.
The PC has opened up the means for video production to support the tunes as well. I'll link where appropriate. I use Adobe Premiere Elements for that work.
Guess that's about it, accept to say that all the production one can muster doesn't amount to much if it isn't shared. That gives me great satisfaction.
