This is one of those songs that was done so perfectly the first time it was recorded (which is ironic because Ian Anderson just glued it together overnight in the studio thinking it would just be a guitar-rock filler single, until he heard the piano intro...). It's really hard to make a good cover, almost everybody who has tried has failed, but you have succeeded. I love your voice as well, it's got this really versatile post-punk/early goth twinge to it that could be very profitable in today's market if you tweak it right.

Bleak- by BlingBeatz 2 years ago
Put some effects on those instruments and this would be a pretty tight track. It sounds kind of lifeless and flat at the moment, play with some phasers, delays and eq's to get the most out of your instruments.
Shine a Light by SteveScott 2 years ago
Nice one! Has a really cool 70's vibe. The lyrics match the music, which is the mark of a really good songwriter. This track is about a distortion pedal and a soulful scream away from being a huge hit for a band like Collective Soul or Altar Bridge.

Fun smiley I can def relate to fear of flying, it's something that's been a problem for me my entire life.
Prone To Disaster by RichardClairemont 2 years ago
^^^ Well Sisters, it's really a matter of EQ...a female vocal will occupy the mid-high range of a track (as will most male vocals come to think of it) so it's better to just produce around that mark and let the voice (whenever it comes lol) fill the space. If you listen to just about anything that's on the radio right now as an instrumental track, you'll notice that the space in the mix where the vocal frequency would be is generally left vacant, that way it doesn't sound like an instrumental with a vocal thrown on top of it, but it's more of a cohesive and full package, it sounds like all of the parts of the track are happening at the same time.

Great voice. You remind me of the singer from Live with a splash of pop RNB influence. Nice one all around.
HOW WOULD I KNOW by SISTERS 2 years ago
This is one of the very few tracks on here that use acoustic instruments and vocals and has a decent production quality. Even without that though, this would still be a stellar piece of music. Brilliant work!
welcome to the church organ by Lapskin 2 years ago
Nice one, but some EQ or compression on those high notes might help kill some of the modulation...Anyway, excellent feeling with this, I've always loved the sound of the church organ and you've used it very well and effectively.

Keep the wheels on turning by MacMaxDJ 2 years ago
Sounds very stock...as if it's almost like a template, "Trance Song #1"...The vocals don't match the track in the least bit...not sure if it's something you sang yourself or if it's a vocal loop or whatever, but something a bit more breathy and less "soul sister"ish would be an improvement. Throw some more personal touches on it and you'll probably surprise yourself with how much better the end product can be. Seems like you've got a knack for the genre, so don't be afraid to experiment and improve!

Nice work. Next week it will be required curriculum in pre-school music classes lol Aside from the incredibly cheesey factor, it is an excellent production, for that I give you much respect!
Dull reality by KitRumble 2 years ago
Has a cool 80's vibe to it...production quality is pretty low though, try some high-mid EQ or stick an exciter on it to give it some more life. Intersting lyrics too by the way.
love's by djericdesign 2 years ago
Nice work! Could use a little low-mid enhancement though. Very very catchy. Throw in a nice punchy kick drum and a sidechained bassline and this could really work on the dancefloor.
Love As Good As THIS by Naaji 2 years ago
Nice. Vocals have a vintage vinyl quality to them that really works well. Your singing style here pretty much hits the nail on the head...loungey, breathy, and precise. Well done.

feel the water by calebrity 2 years ago
Nice. Vocals are bit pitchy in places though and they don't really sound like they belong the track...it's like the track is in one zone and the vocals are in another...Maybe some compression will help paste them down a bit better. I really get the water idea though, it comes through very nicely in the music. Well done.
ElectroniKa (Revised) by damris 2 years ago

Pea Tea by Iconoclast 2 years ago
Very nice. The octavia you used in the middle for the melody has a great sound. That's a difficult instrument to use correctly but you've pulled it off. Good work!!

The only criticism I would offer is a little high end EQ on the octavia and some EQ/effects on the drumloop at the end. Also, try to use an electronic drum kit, the studio sound of the drums kind of clashes with the electronic feel of the song.
ElectroniKa by damris 2 years ago
Apparently I'm going to have to "feel the beat" here because the track doesn't have one, which is a shame because some rhythm would really make this track sparkle!
OLD Fashion Strings by telo12 2 years ago
Nice work!! A couple of little notes though: Try bringing up the attack on the staccato notes, it will give them more punch. Also, the strings sound a bit flat, use some EQ to give them some personality. An excellent composition!!
Sajana by imadesentana 2 years ago
Unique sound but it's a bit out of tune don't you think, especially the bells at the end. Maybe it's the panning...good playing though, very creative.
Smooth El Ectro by Bapta 2 years ago
Not a bad idea, but try putting some effects and stuff on it. The track has a nice melody but it's really flat. Give it some texture and bring it to life.
Leather (Tori Amos cover) by Geechi3 2 years ago
Always been a fan of this track and almost all of the cover versions of I've heard of it go way overboard with its implied sexuality, but you kept the track simple and avoided the temptation to turn it into a softcore moan fest and it sounds great. Glad to see you're still in the game!
One breath by hugenot 2 years ago
Your playing is pretty good but I would recommend some voice lessons or something because your singing isn't exactly on key. There's an effect you can use for vocals in Logic that will kind of pitch it around to where it sounds better. Also the vocals sound a bit sloppily produced and don't really sound like they're part of the song...it sounds like you recorded the music then recorded the voice over it which is probably how you did it but it makes the production sound low quality. I'd recommend you play with some compression and try to make it sound more like one piece instead of the vocal track sore thumbing out loud over everything else.
Distance by judugrovee 3 years ago
Nice work! I can hear alot of good production in the drum patterns you selected and everything mixes down nicely. A big danger you've avoided is the temptation to work around a specific idea to the point that it's almost offensive to the listener because it removes the ability to make the song personally relevant. You've produced a very thoughtful and complete production that leaves many paths for exploration open to the listener. My only criticism would be to sidechain the pads and re-eq the leads, some of them are too loud and it makes the production really muddy. The drums kind of disappear underneath it all for a while. From a creative perspective though, this is a work of genius! Work out some of the technical bugs and it'll be amazing.
White Flag (cover) by Geechi3 3 years ago
So this is what you've been up to huh? Nice. You really brought out the lyrics without over-doing it, which is the curse of 99% of all cover songs. Brilliant.

Very good sound!

Great job of sampling and it sounds great when the beat comes full circle. This is probably the only time anyone will ever hear me say this, but I'm not sure the 4x4 beat works throughout the entire song. Maybe flip it up a bit with a dnb style loop or something and use the 4x4 kick as an accent, sparingly. Love the reversal at the end, by the way. smiley

This reminds me of that old Nike commercial where the players are making rhythm by dribbling the ball and their shoes are squeaking on the floor. I think the synth bit sounds a little flat, maybe tweak it up a little bit with some reverb and chorus.

As usual, you never cease to amaze me with how creative you can get and just seem to pull these really cool ideas right out of thin air. Let's have 500 more!

I think you got the right flavors of all the genres you referenced, but personally I think this track would be most at home as a Superman Lovers-style deep/spacey/dub kind of track. Maybe you'll grace with a remix? smiley

SEXY SONG FOR A SEXY GIRL (In rock & latin swing) by Barretok 5 years ago
This is a really good track, which is why I'm so iritated that the production quality is so low...will someone please explain to me why most of the rock/blues/alternative/blahwhateverthehellitis songs on here sound like they were recorded by an 80's boom box on the other side of a huge room?

As far as the song itself goes, I think it's really cool. Has a nice swing to it, had me moving in a way I'm not used to. Kudos for making a song in this genre that feels fun and new instead of played out and yawnful. smiley Nice work man.
Can't Handle It by Geechi3 5 years ago
I'm into the atomosphere this track presents right from the start. It really puts you into a different time...in my limited years I'm not quite sure exactly what time that is, but the vibe is very nice, hits it right on the head.
Linda, you got your mojo back. Your voice floats over the track like smoke through a dimly lit jazz joint. Your vocal adds alot to the overall atomosphere of the song and the introspective lyrics feel right in place with the tone of the music.
The pair of you have done an excellent job! You guys should collaborate on a more regular basis, seems you understand each other very well musically and it comes off crystal clear in the songs.

Nice to see you're on Ableton. Sounds very professional. Did you do the singing yourself? If so, good on ya!

Nice and dreamy...excellent work. I'm not sure I'd classify this as "vintage" electronica, feels like alot of the newer prog/disco/house songs that were floating around Ibiza last summer. I think you nailed the dynamic right at the intersection of those 3 genres. Love it, keep up the good work!

LOVE BOMB!!! by itiswotitis 5 years ago
Ok, this one goes just a little further to the psychadelic side than I think I'm allowed to go. Listened with headphones...spooky!! Vocals are certainly something interesting...a bit more screamy than usual. What happened to that nice 'scarlifting' quality it used to have? Sounds like you were really pulling your throat muscles, but the melodies are nice.
As far as the production goes, I think this is one of your best, Orange. I was pulled into this strange hazy place from the start of the song and it kept me there all throughout. There's alot of excellent atomosphere that is too often overlooked in collaborations, as there's usually a rush to get things done, the small stuff gets thrown under the bus, but not this time. Everything about the instruments is wonderful.
Good to see the pair of you working together again, looking forward to next time. smiley

I very vaguely remember a track very similar to this one by a member of the Kosmic Free Music Foundation from way back when. It was called "Hypnotizer" and it had alot of elements of this gabber type of stuff. Has kind of a middle eastern flare to it.
