The Greatest Gift (If You Get My Drift) by Dyl 4 years ago
Bass2x, great idea! When and where are we gonna have the festival? Choir and I are definitely in.

Dylan and Lafayette, thanks for such a great tune and allowing me to be a part of it.

Everyone, that "six months later" that Dyl mentioned is completely on me. Thanks guys for your unbelievable patience with me, I'm sure it got frustrating. Your kindness and patience, undeserved as it is, is definitely appreciated.

I had a complete blast playing along with this one and am definitely proud to be a part of it.

Jay-
Awesome. After auditioning many a guitar player I have learned that skills on axe itself are only half the equation; knowing your equipment makes up the other half. You my friend have both in the bag. Hands down between skills and equipment/effects choices you have got to be one of the most skilled and versatile guitarists on the site. Great job, I love the ABA format, great pacing and structure. Bravo!!!

Hey babe, I had to comment. As I'm sure you have, I've been waiting literally years now for you to finish this song. I fell in love with it the day you wrote it and have often found myself singing and humming it. I have to say, it was well worth the wait. This is amazing. The composition is absolutely gorgeous and the execution is one of, of not your best; flute solo and all. Our kids will hear this often and look back on it with fond memories when they are old and gray.

Wow!!! It's not a cult anymore, it's a full fledged religion, Ha! I don't so much think that you've found the middle of the road but the carpool or high occupancy vehicle lane where the minivans and station wagons go, which we all need to utilize from time to time. I love the brash Harley but this is equally brilliant. You still got to cool chord prog and melody going though it sounds like you need a smoke (ha ha ha). All that said, I love it, great job!!! Now take them bananas and go make a banana split.

Wow, your first electronica track. What a collage of sounds going on here, sounds like I did when I got a hold of my first synth. Honestly, I'm not sure what you were going for but it sounds a bit chaotic and it's hard to tell what's going on. There are lots of way cool elements in here that could probably be broken of, expanded on, and made into 2 or 3 other tunes. Other than that, I applaud you breaking out of your comfort zone and trying new styles.

Very well written. I honestly don't pay too much attention to lyrics (which is my problem) but the songs was great and had a good sound. I'm glad you turned your emotions into music though, music is always the best outlet and cure. And remember, a cliche got to be that way for a reason, because it's something we all feel, so there's nothing wrong with that.

My first attempt by ranea75 5 years ago
Nice first tune. Ananga is correct, it is a bit repetitive, but you are off to a good start. If you have the capabilities I would try putting some vocals or a live solo instrument in. Other than that, you've got a nice "A" section going, now you need a "B" and perhaps a "C" section to give it a little diversity.

That being said, welcome to icomp, I hope to hear more from you!
