| Great number, scotty! We're getting geared up for the 20th Annual Berks Jazz Fest in a couple of weeks... 10 days of jazz and blues by the best in the biz. This tune is getting me all fired up! Thanks for sharing. | |

![]() Sweet groove and GREAT vox, 48! I re-read your profile. Your parents definitely rubbed off. Your profile brings to mind acclaimed jazz guitarist, Steve Khan. He too, comes from musical pedigree. His father was Sammy Cahn, who wrote lyrics for Broadway musicals and Hollywood films... songs sung by Frank Sinatra like LOVE AND MARRIAGE, made famous by the show, MARRIED WITH CHILDREN. I exchange MySpace messages with Steve now and then. He is so down-to-earth, as I'm sure you are, too. Thanks for commenting on BudBug Boogie and bringing back to iComp. S ![]() |

| The panning keyboard really doesn't bother me. I actually found it intriguing. In fact, it forced to get creative with my submission to this tune. It's the reason why I split my guitar solo between the left and right channels. Thanks for your critique. Alway helpful. Glad you dug the tune! |
|
| KCSAITO's Blues by Scorp | 5 years ago |
| No control of the panning on Ef's guitar solo. This is the way he expressed himself in his playing and I respect that. This tune certainly shows a traditional approach and sound versus a more contemporary style of guitar playing. I'm glad you like the number, overall! Not bad for an open collab, eh? |

![]() Got 1/3 the way through this tune and hit the download button. Top-notch tune all around - lyrics - production - vocals - arrangement. Nice blend of strings, acoustic guitar and delicious electric guitar licks. This has all the right stuff. It's iPod-bound, G. I'm glad you clicked on my banner. I would've missed this one, as well. There's so much good music here at iComp tunes that its hard to keep up. Thanks for the kind words on Romanza-Danza. I added some horn section stabs to it. I'll have to upload it. |

![]() Nicely done, Robmo. Great choice of digital/synth instrumentation. I like the driving tempo. You create a really nice soundscape. Thanks for your kind words on September's Prayer. I served, as well...USAF. Post Vietnam 1975-80. Virginia and the UK, with stints in Italy and Germany. I crewed F-15s and A-10s. They literally rolled off the assembly line and into service. It's hard to see the younger ones go before us older vets. Thanks again. |

![]() Cool number. Very rich. iPod-worthy, for sure. I like the synth guitar or harp intro, the Beethoven's 5th-driven strings on the low end, fusion style drum work and the gentle strings and synth keys melodic work. Most diggable ambient orchestral arrangement. 5 tunes in 5 days?! Man o man! I hope you got to see a little of San Diego! hehehe! |

| THE BLUE NOTE CAFE by wal4u | 5 years ago |
![]() Wonderful vox, Wal. No doubt you're a seasoned performer. Glad to see your children are following in your footsteps. I (along with NYC resident brother) was at the Blue Note in NYC to see Dizzy's 75th Birthday show (early 1990s). My first taste of Paquito D'Rivera on sax. Whoa! He's amazing. I didn't realize that Paquito was part of the famed Cuban band 'Irakire' and that, along with Arturo Sandoval, was discovered by Dizzy. Bobby McFerrin sat in for a couple of tunes that memorable evening. Then we hung out on the sidewalk with Bobby after the show waiting to wave down a cab. We let Bobby go first, of course. Ah, the Blue Note. Thanks for bringing back those memories and tolerating my once-in-a-lifetime story. You could've opened for them that night with tunes like this, for sure. Consider me a new fan. ![]() Lush! Great rendition of a Dizzy Classic. You cats are for real. Thanks for posting! ---- Speaking of Dizzy, check out Dizzy's guitarist (for many years), Mark Elf. http://www.jenbayjazz.com/international.html If you enjoy vocalese, seek out Mark's tune DOT COM BLUES (on his CD Trickeynometry). It is an outstanding number, destined to be a classic if enough people (like yourselves) hear it. This tune is not to be confused with Jimmy Smith's CD, Dot Com Blues. Scorp ![]() You can listen to a sound clip of Mark's DOT COM BLUES @ cduniverse.com. Unfortunately its just the wonderful instrumental section with trumpet and sax solos - no vocals. Anyway, seek out TRICKEYNOMETRY and Mark's other CDs. Mark Elf is a monster player. |

![]() Nice Groove. Cool free form beginning between percussions and acoustic bass. Terrific melody. Nice spread of instrumentation across both channels. ![]() 16, huh? Well you're off to a good start, young man. ![]() Keep studying the works of your heroes. Glad you didn't cop all of EJ's licks note for note. While it's a good way to take apart and study his playing, there's no room for interpretation. Interpretation is where real growth takes place. It's the only way to find your own way -- your own 'voice' -- while emulating your heroes. Before you know it, you'll create and/or stumble across some of your own really cool licks -- different ways of expressing. Keep up the good work! |

![]() Techno Jazz Funk! Darn good use of looped instruments. Only suggestion I have is maybe add some reveb and/or slight echo to the horns. Give them some atmosphere/ambiance/a big room sound. Out of the box, so to speak, loop horns (and synth horns) tend to be a bit too up front. The only example I have to give you is my tune "Sun Worshippers." I use GB's synth horns with reverb and slight echo. Overall, well done! Nice groove! I dug it! A keeper. |

| Half Baked Blues by Scorp | 6 years ago |
| Neal, Bob and Scotty. Thanks for the thumbs up. Glad you liked it. Bob, that's an Ibanez electric bass with most of the treble pulled back. I originally tried to pound it out on my midi-keyboard and GB's digital bass, but I couldn't get the cadance and changes right. I just couldn't get that authentic bass feel. So, I ran out and bought the Ibanez and took about 3 weeks to familiarize myself with it before recording. I have even more respect for the instrument, now. There's a lot more subtle nuances to playing the bass then I ever expected. Any recommendations on the purchase of quality bass strings? Scorp ![]() |

| Thanks, Luiti. This was my first attempt at recording and composing when I first purchased Garageband. I agree about the loops and their unavoidable 'digital' sounds. | Nunca Más by luiti | 6 years ago |
![]() Nunca Mas – Never More. Tengo gusto! The melody is terrific. I like the acoustic guitar and excellent cello playing. I could easily see this under the pop/rock category even though the song is sung in Spanish. There is beauty in the sound of Spanish lyircs. A brief description in English would help give the English speaking members an idea of what you are communicating, or post the Spanish lyrics. We can always copy them and run them through translation software. Muy Bueno. Mas! |
