| SoundCircusII Directives/Contest Rules by ShowGram | 4 years ago |
| The contest is re-opened. Let's collaborate. Hmm. BPM standard... A friend suggested 198 might be an interesting experiment, but let's go with 135. Other rules, well, this time it is going to be pretty wide open. If people want to establish rules along the way, go for it, and i'll moderate wether the ideas become official rules or not. Hope to have you all in! When you are ready to post contributions of loops or PARTS please use the pattern below; ONE: please let us know (of course), TWO: include SoundCircus as your collaborative partner, and THREE: please title your song as; "SC2P_nameofsong." This way if someone wants to listen to all the parts available for them to utilize, they should be able to go to SoundCircus and listen and download everything in one easy to find location. Thanks. |

![]() This is kind of thing i search for. Yes, no box... it might become slightly more friendly if you brought in some radio rythms or some blips and beats... something that would give a sense of build and/or tension. that might make it worthy of many repeatable experiences. But that probably was not your intent. But i'll be happy if this surfaces every once in awhile in party shuffle. |

![]() Did anyone mention anything about all the blokes in the background yet? What a fancy set of back up vocals you have going on there. I do believe they steal the show. Well what do you expect with such cheeky wit. And the organ, yes, that was a stroke of genious. Good thing for smart friends. Oh, well, ok yes, Ponkey did ok too. And what is this new method? You mean someone can write a song without suffering through the experience first? Wow, how much time and misery have i wasted? |

| The Moment you've all been waiting for ... The unveiling of the SoundCircus contest winners. We had a wonderful time, and appreciate everyones contributions and creativity involved. And without further ado ... The winners are: - - - - - - - - First Place: uTTer muTTer (Sound Circus) / By AspersionDetergent http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41675 With a total of 41 points. Prize: $20 iTunes gift certificate. Here are a few comments from the judges: I love that it's abstract, but it would be cool if it *did* settle into something like a 'home' at some point - a point of rest -- but it's still my favorite the technical stuff doesn't take away from the piece like some of the other entries uTTer muTTer was obviously more complex and I recognize the artistry ... - - - - - - - - Second Place (A very close second place): Cirque du elder / By Elder http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41203 With a total of 40 points. Prize: $10 iTunes gift certificate. A few comments from the judges: Cirque du elder captured my attention the most and fit my personal preferences better. I have to go with my gut and the Cirque is the one that I'd want to listen to over and over the most. - - - - - - - - Third Place: 3 Lili Circus / By Elder http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41266 With a total of 32 points. Prize: $10 iTunes gift certificate. A few comments from the judges: The hard panning and the beat seem a bit cliche I love the fuzzed out sample 3 Lili circus is impressive and it reminds me of something Peter Gabriel would use in the back of his vocals. - - - - - - - - There you have it. A lot of fun and work, and some of the most creative and progressive songs you can find. Once again, thanks for playing. AND NOW ... Why not start the next contest. SOUNDCIRCUS II. Following similar rules, with some drastic changes. The main goal is to still provide parts or loops that can be incorporated by other users, but there will be more lenience as to how much you create on your own. This time we will follow a theme. Similar to the GunDove contest, whose theme was war and peace, the THEME of SoundCircus 2 will be Heaven and Hell. The goal will be to create a song that communicates your vision of one or the other, without being too cliche. Wether the song represents a physical location, or a place in the mind, the secondary purpose is to engage others in the journey of creating, along the way. Look for official contest rules to be posted within a week. |

| on a lip you lick by vibegeist | 5 years ago |
![]() I think it works fantastic. Although, i agree, your true voice makes things so much better. Why not leave it as is, but just double track the vocals with your feminine side of things on top of it all. You can still do some vocoding in parts if you really desire, to make your voice blend at opportune times. That is my only suggestion. Love the vibegeist-sound. |

| Well, Howdy friends. As of this weekend, the SoundCircus contest has come to an end. I show a total of 4 eligible entries, one of which was mine, so with three entries, we have three winners! Stay tuned for official placement, and prizes. The songs are: Cirque du elder / By Elder http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41203 CircusFavors_SoundCircusContest / By ShowGram http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41209 3 Lili Circus / By Elder http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41266 uTTer muTTer (Sound Circus) / By AspersionDetergent http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=41675 As for me, there are still some things i would love to try with the fantastic assortment of contributions that came in. So, if you too, have a work in progress, let me know, and you may still recieve some prize money or critical acclaim. Huge Thanks to everyone who contributed. Your personalities are a delight, and i feel honored greatly by your involvement. Continue to create your own entertainment. The SoundCircus will continue ... If you have ideas for how future contests should be structured, please let me know. FEEDBack: Did you enjoy this contest? What didn't you like? Was it too limited? Was it difficult to understand the objectives? What might have made it better? Etc. Your creative guru -- Show |

| OH, Ffu--ar out. This is a masterpiece of processing and arranging if i must say so, which i must. I am blow over. You put so much time and work and play into this. I like the small additions you made as well. I may make some people mad, but this kicks NIN butt -- and the likes. (for what ever reason, it made me think it had some Trent Reznor creative processing powers at work in it, but like i said much better, hee). | |

| SoundCircus Directives/Contest rules by SoundCircus | 5 years ago |
| Just to clearify. One objetive of the contest is to generate as many original various sounds as possible. almost like creating our own loop library or sound effects CD. June 26th is the date for all those sound entries or PARTs to come in. Then the contest objective is to figure out, (by utilizing only those sounds submitted for the contest) how to combine them together. This is where you personality can shine through. (I will make allowance for one additional music track and one vocal track to be added if so desired, but keep in mind the contest objective.) Hopefully we will see how massively creative you all are. I am sure that even having the same limited number of sounds to choose from no two songs will sound even close to being the same. happy creating. |
|
| SoundCircus Directives/Contest rules by SoundCircus | 5 years ago |
| Hey All. Pushing the Deadlines back 2 weeks from what was originally posted. You still have time to join! New submit date: Monday, June 26. So you actually only have ONE week. Final contest composition deadline: Saturday, July 15th. So you still have over 3 weeks. (thumbs up) Thanks elder for your interest. I would request that if you use PARTs other than for the contest, just ask for permission. Although, I have no problem with it. I will get some spoken word/random thoughts up (especially because they were requested), any other takers? |
|
| SoundCircus Directives/Contest rules by SoundCircus | 5 years ago |
| New Challenge. OK, let me give some new directives, to open the contest up a bit. It looks like only 6 song parts are in, so here is the new challenge. Anyone who would like to join the contest, may enter. You may utilize other original music and intruments in your final composition, however, you must use something from atleast 4 of the submitted PARTS. Other than that it is open game. That's all for now. Good luck, hope i am not the only one who submits something. Oh, and stay tuned for other SoundCircus contests (we welcome any suggestions on how you would like a contest to be structured.) |

| Well, you can actually see the video under music videos, but it is not as beautiful as you suggest. Maybe that is the down fall of videos. | When uploading your song, simply select user SoundCircus as your collaborative partner. Crap mike or not, ... i use the built-in pin mic ... hey. no excuses, hee hee. It is not about quality per-say. This contest is about the process as much as the final product. The contest is underway, with 6 PARTs posted so far. You still have two weeks to get your contributions in. And for those who don't do vocals, or make weird sounds with their mouths, you can still take the PARTs and figure out how to utilize them, and show us how creative you really are. Enter the SoundCircus/Throat Fair vocal collaboration! |

| Hey Ponk — just listening through the Capitalist Ruse album, and discovered this one again... i think if you trash nearly all the vocals — they just don't fit with the music mood, and start over. However the music is quite good, kind of Christmassy-holidaiseyish. For what it is worth, and for all the work involved... it may be worth another try from a different angle. | |

![]() I have no idea what was intended, but i see a sushi rotary, going back and forth, like the film is being scratched like a record, interpersed with claymated dancing sushi. Must just be inspired by your moniker. Otherwise, a fantastic little sketch. Great combi of sounds. |
