| I love this type of arrangement. Keeping an underlying riff going whilst building up and stripping away various layers. It's not the sort of thing you find in the charts. | |
| Empty Bottles and Oval-Shaped Dreams by PinkFreud | 1 day ago |
| There is something deliciously retro about this one. It starts off like Hellacopters and Offspring but finishes with a touch of Zombies. Did I mention I love retro? | |
| Abstract # 2 by ShadowofNine | 7 days ago |
| It's like a metamorphosis. Vangelis turning into Wakeman and then Jarre, alternating. All with an ample dose of Dave. My cup of tea. | |
| JUST LIKE CATS by Barretok | 24 days ago |
| Nice one B. I've said it before. Your knack of using delay effects is second to none. I don't know how you do it. It always sounds so clean and so right. It's as much your trade mark as your unique voice. |

![]() Another classic Surak to add to my collection. It's such a catchy riff. |
|
| California Dreamin' by borris | 27 days ago |
![]() This has got Borris written all over it. I've always said that there is no point in doing a cover if it adds nothing to the original. This doesn't just add, it multiplies. |

![]() As always superb tune, virtuoso playing. The Gibson sounds awesome. I always think strings sound better once they've settled in and lost some of their harsher harmonics, but hey, that's just me. |
|
| Between You and Me (w/ ochrestomanci) by PinkFreud | 1 month ago |
![]() I like the original but the additions elevate it to a new level. Nice work Kevin. There seems to be a little bit of background hissing or white noise in places. Have you run it through a noise filter? Perhaps its just me and my equipment. No one else seems to have noticed. |

![]() If you want a number one hit, you have to follow the formula. You know, verse, chorus, hook, key change etc. Of course, if you just want to make wonderful music you can do whatever you want. That's what I love about this site. I enjoyed listening to this and I will make sure I listen to all your music in the future. |

| The Groove (Revisited) by PinkFreud | 1 month ago |
![]() You were one of the first artists I listened to when I joined icomps. I was immediately struck by the way you structure your music, the way you use layers to keep the song developing. Not the usual formulaic verse, chorus middle eight, fade out. You have inspired me to experiment, to break out of the mold. For that, big thanks. As for the mix. The best way to bring those vocals forward is to turn everything else down. |
|
| Empty Promises by merlino | 1 month ago |
| When I read that this was your first crack at home recording, I prepared myself to offer some constructive advice. Fact is this is a pretty good mix. I'm guessing you know your way around a mixing desk. I think this song is "popular music". Some might suggest that the bass is too far forward. Personally, that's where I like it. Nice Work. |

| Just Passing Through by Smileygeezer | 1 month ago |
| Hi Bob I used a whole bunch of effects on this one. They hide my mediocre guitar playing talents. Your right about the phasing. Its one of my favourit 70's effects. I use a Zoom 505 II by the way. |

| When I Look At You by guitar55 | 1 month ago |
![]() This ticks all the boxes. There is nothing like the sound of a quality acoustic guitar in the hands of someone who knows how to play it. The backing synth is all it needed to make this track complete. Nice one guys. |

| Diminished Returns by Eidolonia | 2 months ago |
| All I can say is, I love it. The structure, the composition, etc. This is as good if not better than a lot of the main stream artists that charge good money for a listen. Hats off to to both of you. | |

| Remembering Richard Wright by ShadowofNine | 3 months ago |
| OMG. I didn't know he was dead. Pink Floyd was the band that changed forever the way I listen to music. One of my older brothers bought "Piper at Gates of Dawn". It was so revolutionary. This is a nice tribute Dave. I can hear riffs that, if you told me they were written by Rick, I would believe you. |

| Bye,Bye by ShadowofNine | 4 months ago |
| It's funny how sometimes a riff just will not let you break out of it. So you add layers, let different lead parts float around. It's happened to me and I liked it. Nicely done Dave. | |

| I Just Want Your Soul by Smileygeezer | 4 months ago |
| Thanks Eido. I really do appreciate your honest reviews. I play my Aria TS400 through a cheap little Zoom 505II effects box. I am saving up for something a bit more versatile. Any recommendations? It needs to go between guitar and sound card and cost less than $400. | |
