Biography
David Outting is a self styled singer-songwriter whose musical technique spans several musical genres: From the soft spoken sounds of the alternative genre(Alt Rock, Country) to the 70's/80's incendiary sounds of guitar searing synth/funk rock. Outting was raised in Queens, New York, Born into dysfunctional yet musical family. His constant struggle with life, an absentee father, numerous failed relationships and an insatiable sexual lifestyle has inspired Outting's creativity.
His writing began at the tender age of 16. An under achiever in school, he found himself unchallenged. To satisfy his hunger for knowledge David would skip school and go to libraries, where he found solace in the writings of many famous authors such as Marcel Proust, Aldous Huxley, Earnest Hemingway and Jack Kerouac. Novelist whose prose writing was infected with such profound poetic tone, their influence have become so important to Outting's budding lyrical style. Additionally David began to idolize poets and songwriters. The likes of Sir Thomas Wyatt, John Keats, William Butler Yeats, T.S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Ryan Adams, Paul Simon and John Lennon.
Also at 16, Outting began to channel his growing musical talents. After 3 months of agonizing private piano lessons, Outting dropped his overpriced teacher and began teaching himself. Two years later at age 18 he taught himself Guitar, bass, and at 19 he began to aspire to sing. Taking influence from the likes of Prince, Ryan Adams, The Police, (Particularly Sting & Andy Summers), Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, John Lennon and Miles Davis. He is currently participating in City College's prestigious Sonic Arts program and finishing his first album, The Suicide Handbook, a title taken from the very popular underground demo by Ryan Adams.
