Smile again by CiaranPhillips 1 year ago
I'm with these two - I think the writing and vocal performance is spot-on. I think this song has a lot of potential. I think the production sounds very ... sweet (take it from Sweet T) and unless you're going to exploit that all the way, a bit of edge could help make the track marketable. If you got someone to lay in some guitar tracks in lieu of the strings - just an idea. I think it's great on several levels. The problems could be fixed in the mix. KEEP IT UP!
I Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans by VinceVance1 1 year ago
I think your track has great personality! I can't for a minute believe that this was created using "only loops" - seems maybe the other way around? Anyway, I dig it. This music should find a home in film. I felt like I was there. Good work. Ty
Re Sleep by cove 1 year ago
I have to say I like your song here, Cove. I can tell you're having fun. I've written a few that this reminds me of - years later I come across the recording and it brings me back to where I was when I wrote it. I thought the performance was really good. My only critique for you is perhaps some constraint in the arrangement could benefit the recording. A lot is happening, where I wished there was more 'air' to let things breathe. I think you might accomplish this by spreading things out - make the piece twice as long and let it build a bit... bring the piano in on the second time around and the clav to follow. Maybe lay off the snare on two for a while??? I struggle with this myself and have had some success by thinning things out and giving the instruments more room. I'm digging it, though. Nice guitar work. Keep it up!
I've Been Waiting For You by Sweet_T 1 year ago
Thanks feenixx - I struggled with the 'pop' label and edited it to 'jazz'. With some of the stuff I write I have a hard time categorizing it. I think that is actually one of my big problems - doesn't fit in any specific genre, especially collectively. Thanks again for the nice words. I'll let my sister know her voice is appreciated on iComp! Merry Christmas.

JD this is a really nice song. I think it was wonderfully written. I got the goose bumps on the chorus. Sometime let me know how you coordinated this collaboration. I'd really like to head one up or participate in one. Keep the songs coming. If your writer's block persists, send me a message and I'll talk to you about how I get over them...

I"m digging it! This is an impressive undertaking. Creative transitions - great drum programming, fine orchestral sequencing (proper use of instrumentation, nice score). You do a great job of changing the scenery between songs while keeping a common theme with the arrangement. Also the guitar track really rocks. I'm highly impressed.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm DEFINITELY looking for a singer that can carry this tune. Hint: Moses - when are you going to sing on one of these tracks??? Even if this one's not for you I've got several others that I'm trying to get to a point where I can post them. I also hear some gospel choir in the chorus. Like I said, I love this song - I think it's a big rock anthem and I'm excited to take it to the next level with the right vocalist.
Second-Guess Emotion by Sweet_T 1 year ago
Thanks again for the feedback. JD, I wrote the song (as I tend to do) with the bass part in mind. I always felt bad for the bassist that just had to hold the root - they get ripped off. But I can't deny that not many people want to listen to bass solos all the time. Somewhere there's a happy medium - I tried to find it with 2nd Guess. I have other songs that "feature" the bass. The tricky part is holding everybody else to the groove so the bassist can shine without everything getting too busy. I've had some success.

Moses I really appreciate you giving my music a listen. I personally think all my stuff is Criminally Overlooked! But I'm biased... and I also realize that I have to put more time into networking before anyone will pay any attention. I've got a few kids and a non-music career that I'm focused on, and I go to college full-time during the evenings. I'm a patient man though. There will come a day when I am networking my butt off here and trying to give words of encouragement to other artists. Someday Soon, I pray (another one of my tunes)...

What's the price of a human life today? This song speaks to the unraveling of the moral fabric of urban society. It's a shame and it makes me wonder what I could do; what we should do. Seems it's got to be one individual at a time that's got to be educated and given the proper guidance. I've focused on my own kids and wish that I could do more. If everybody focused on their own kids we'd be one step ahead or probably past this madness.

I appreciate you posting this song, T. Like others, I hear reality - truth in the lyric, and the music is, IMHO, masterfully crafted. You should re-work this and if you need help I will make myself available. You are the real deal.
