IT IS SPONSORED BY OXFAM (Oxford Committee for Famine Relief) Ponkey has asked artists to contrubute their time and talent to help those in need. ARTISTS ON THIS SITE (iCOMP) are assembling an album to sell (for a donation) or offer as a premium for a donation on OXFAM'S main site. However it works it is a way of giving back. This is Ponkeys 2nd year doing this and we hope that it will be a huge success. Here is a bit about the organization and links to the sites efforts. What does Oxfam do? Development programs: Oxfam and our partners are working toward long term development to eradicate poverty, focusing on issues such as education, gender, HIV/Aids and human rights. Emergency work: Oxfam has been working in humanitarian disaster or emergency situations for over 60 years and is internationally recognized for our expertise in water and sanitation. Research and lobbying: Oxfam's experience of the real issues confronting poor people is linked to high-level research and lobbying. We aim to change international policies and practices in ways to ensure that poor people have the rights and opportunities they need to improve and control their lives. Campaigning: Oxfam undertakes popular campaigning, alliance building and media work designed to raise awareness among the public of solutions to global poverty, to enable and motivate people to play an active part in the movement for change, and to foster a sense of global citizenship. Oxfam takes a rights-based approach, aiming to help people living in poverty to exercise five main rights: Right to a sustainable livelihood, Right to basic social services, Right to Life and security, Right to be heard, Right to an identity. Our annual program expenditure is around $528.03 million globally.* Oxfam works with approximately 3250 partner organizations in around 100 countries.
